I haven’t seen people pull out so many receipts so fast since Zoe Kravitz criticized Will Smith and the Oscar Slap. It was amazing, actually. They brought up everything – Mia’s children accusing her of abuse and neglect, her friendship with rapist Roman Polanski, her overwhelming need to protect whiteness and a lot more. Good. Disappointing to see this. Her autobiography was one of the few that I’ve kept long on my bookshelf to reread because it was such a well written book. I’m well aware of her shortcomings but still had some respect for her. She burned it with this. While the mother of children of color she still could not suppress her inner Karen.
I didn’t read it but her autobiography is written in her perspective alone. I believe the accounts of her adopted POC children and their allegations of abuse. The tragedy of early deaths and suicides of her children of color, combined with the alleged abuse, is not something to be ignored.
I believe the adopted children as well. Their stories have been very compelling.
Her son Moses wrote an article which I read. He seemed quite compelling (and sympathetic) to me. @juli8574 – I don’t think it’s age-related (at least, not in the US). If all you hear from “news” sources every single day is “H&M bad/RF good,” it’s hard for this not to be imprinted in your brain. The positive articles about H&M come only every few months when they have something to announce. Only die-hard H&M watchers remember those moments.
Mia didn’t say she was tired of the Harry and Meghan coverage. She said she was tired of them. That is either a choice to hate them based on willingness to believe what she is fed through the media (which isn’t their fault) or her knowing their positive accomplishments in addition to the few times they have personally spoken out and still believing they are bad people who are attention seekers (which with the limited public engagement isn’t a fair assessment and again isn’t their fault). I would hear something about the others but ignore it and go about my life because they simply didn’t interest me. I heard Will was getting married, I kept it moving. Wedding day came, by chance I turned on the TV unaware it was their wedding day, I hear talks about some nonexistent bum and turned the TV off because I simply didn’t care. I’d hear about a new baby, kept it moving. My point is that those who claim to be tired of Harry and Meghan, who have only done impactful work and spoken their truth to counter the onslaught of daily hate for years, are choosing to seek out these two people they hate or are too clueless to understand that Harry and Meghan aren’t writing these daily articles or having these daily talks about themselves, so the people they should really be mad at are the RF, media and themselves for not being smart enough to realize that.

I actually believe soon-yi on this. Soon-yi grew up with artist and knows tons of people. Went to nice schools. Yet she clung on to woody allen. She did that for security. Mia even said she understood why soon-yi did it and referenced her background. Why didnt soon-yi feel comfortable. Why did she cling to allen and not another older man with money. Allen didnt groom her. All of that in a short time.

Seeing as how it’s unlikely that their inappropriate relationship began with pornographic pics, Soon Yi was most likely underage when she and Allen began their sexuel relationship, not to mention had been her father figure since she was 11.

By all accounts Soon-Yi was an unhappy child who didn’t have many friends, which would have not only made it easy for Allen to swoop in and begin grooming her under the guise of “supporting” her, but also makes it seem that it would not have been any easy task for Soon-Yi to just “find another rich guy”. By the time Soon Yi was even of legal age, she was already heavily involved with Allen, and certainly gave no indication of being interested in other men. Even a rich one.

She emphasizes with those who care more about their public image over whistleblowers who expose what happens behind closed doors. It’s incredibly jarring because I have a tremendous amount of respect for Roman Farrow, who does expose the truth.
In all fairness, some of her adopted kids do support her. And Ronan has written with fondness about their blended family. That said, I believe there were family scapegoats and I believe their stories. Moses. Soon Yi
Ronan is her biological son. Sure, Dylan, Quincy, Isaiah etc. have been publicly supportive of Mia—I didn’t say all her adopted children accused her of abuse. However, if you say you believe Moses’ account, then you believe that she did not treat everyone fairly and equally. Therefore, those who were favored are naturally more inclined to be supportive of their mother. We’ll never hear from the children who passed away, but for me, Moses and Soon Yi’s stories are more than enough.
I know Ronan is her natural son. I said I believed I believed Moses and Soon Yi, so obviously I do believe there was unfairness.

FTR- Harry and Meghan DON’T actually complain. It’s the BRF and the BM complaining about H&M. Not vice versa.
Two things can be true at once: Mia Farrow might have tweeted something dumb and misguided but that doesn’t make it proof that she abused her children. This is some Swifty-level reaching–and I say that as someone who supports and mostly likes H&M.
No one is making any leaps. Either you believe her estranged children or you don’t. She hasn’t sued Soon Yi or Moses for defamation, but conveniently suggests that they’ve been tainted by Allen, which is a flawed argument that Allen has used in turn, for Dylan’s accusations. The information is out there and people are allowed to believe the victims and give them support and credibility.
It absolutely is not reaching. Read the words of these kids.
I have read their words, and Mia’s, and those of her other children who have not leveled these accusations against her. A terrible, tangled situation. But perhaps I should clarify my underlying point: the Sussex Squad (of which I consider myself to be a casual member) tends to whip itself into a frenzy any time someone (no matter how irrelevant and problematic!) says something mildly rude about H&M (to the extend that one commenter actually said she understands now why Frank Sinatra left Mia Farrow in the 60s…really??). At the same time, they conveniently don blinders when H&M willingly and happily associate themselves with known a-holes like Ellen and James Cordon.
Also, it’s worth noting that Mia Farrow has tweeted extremely supportive things about Meghan in the past. I highly doubt this crew here would have rejected her support by bringing up “receipts.” Cherry-picking, etc.
LTAVLAS Meghan hasn’t been seen since December. Harry has been seen a handful of times, a few days in January and a few days last week. A four or five month period and we have seen minimal of him and his wife in comparison to the daily articles and panel discussions that are nonstop regardless of whether they are seen or heard from in days, weeks or months. That isn’t their fault, yet Mia randomly decided to take time out of her day to say something mean and uncalled for against two people who have said and done absolutely nothing to her for them to be in her topic of mean spirited conversation. She like others are contributing to the abuse of this couple by attacking them for simply existing. She didn’t attack the media who have flooded their pages with assumptions, lies and accusations. No, she decided to attack two people who have likely never uttered her name or attacked her for the things she’s accused of or the questionable people she seems to surround herself with who have a proclivity for young girls. This woman who wants to claim that she is tired of Harry and Meghan managed to not be tired of the stories where Harry, Meghan and their children have been threatened with physical harm and racist rhetoric but sure let’s give her a pass because she’s supposedly this nice old lady who travels across an ocean to defend a pedo while being silent about actual attacks against two people and their children because she’s “tired of them”. So to you it is whipping oneself into a frenzy when someone is mildly rude, while others see it as an unwarranted attack on a couple that has done nothing wrong but is being blamed for the abhorrent attacks that they themselves are victims of. Attacks that to you are mild, but in their entirety contributed to the suicidal ideations of a pregnant woman during her first pregnancy and a subsequent miscarriage of that same woman’s second pregnancy. Let’s not forget the sea of online threats of physical violence against all of them, including their children, as an added measure of why this isn’t just mildly rude. Let us not ignore the online haters making threats of stabbing a pregnant Meghan in her belly only to later post photos bragging about being close enough to touch her. A probability that would have happened if it weren’t for online trolls being whipped into a frenzy and the media feeding them information of where she was at.
So that’s what you’re upset about, Meghan fans pointing out the foibles of other people (which is more or less, in this instance, was people saying “oh, ok, you’re feeling unkind and tired of them because of media coverage – would you like it to be re-oriented to you?”)
I don’t care for Ellen although I would not put her on the level of problematic as Mia Farrow. But Meghan and Harry put their heads down and mind their own business. Farrow could have as well, but she didn’t.
Try not to assign H&M responsibility for comments from their supporters that you don’t like, either. That’s what tabloids do.
They have the right to point out that Harry and Meghan haven’t been seen much this year. If she follows tabloids then she can stop. Mostly likes? If you don’t like them you don’t have to no one cares. They don’t care.
Tangled situation? I wouldn’t call her son accusing her of abuse after her daughter did and making accusations that turned out to be true about a suicide after another one committed suicide and was left out of the documentary. All three of her deceased children were left out of the doc. I would have included them they were her children. She cheated with exes, had threesomes with very young women, and allegedly treated some of her staff horribly. I never liked Ellen and was disappointed with James Corden who I did like. You want to talk cherry-picking. Pot. Kettle. You.
How close are Mia and Ronan? I ask because my dream scenario is that Ronan steps up as the brave investigative journalist who does a deep dive on the Windsors.

You know, I have to say, what she said is EXACTLY what some of my older relatives have said as well. They don’t follow the royals or Harry and Meghan, but the have said similar things. Often it’s, “I’ve had enough of the Harry and Meghan drama.” At first I was pissed off, because Harry and Meghan are obvious victims to me, but then it dawned on me that maybe I would feel the same if I were in their shoes. And it’s not the result of anything Harry and Meghan did at all. It’s purely the relentless and vicious media. To people (especially elderly people) who don’t follow any of this, it just looks like a steady stream of chaos and headlines. I think this speaks to the reality that on some level, the press is achieving their goal of making Harry and Meghan unpopular by pumping out story after negative story. Over time it DOES begin to grate on people who aren’t really paying attention. And that is what makes the British media and this strategy so dangerous. There is nothing Harry and Meghan can really do about it because no matter what, the negativity and articles are always constant – basically daily. It’s scary. I think people like my relatives and Mia (perhaps – who knows what she knows) misdirect their annoyance out of ignorance more than anything. I think a lot of people STILL, unfortunately, do not know the whole story – and the British media loves that.
Ronan Farrow should offer his mom a little media literacy training. Or take away her phone.
