I will start watching Heart of Invictus later on today, because I have a car appointment and I’ll probably be there for hours. I’ve been slightly surprised by the lack of promotion for the docuseries this week, but maybe Harry will do a bigger push next week ahead of the Invictus Games. I’m just saying, we’re due for some disruptor interviews from Harry. Harry saying ANYTHING in print or on TV always causes a full meltdown on Salt Island. I’m ready for it.
In the meantime, it turns out that Harry visited San Diego on Monday, all to attend a screening of Heart of Invictus. He spoke to the theatergoers and posed for selfies! He really flew under the radar too. No one had any idea that he traveled down to San Diego – Chula Vista, to be exact – until he appeared at this theater. Kind of wonder if Harry has some good friends in San Diego. Back in June, he also turned up in the city for the Warrior Games. He also spent time in Southern California in 2011, back when he was based at the Naval Air Facility in El Centro, California and training to fly Apache helicopters.

@couchpotato, Harry IS a sweet heart, and I deliberately left the space between the two words! It describes him to a tea, along with the words, Gentleman, warrior and honest. Tell me (other than Megan) what other member of his dogsht family have those attributes!. I watched the walking with the wounded programme and like everything Harry touches, it was filled with effort and fun. No boundaries between him and the others, just a group of men all there for each other and it was glorious

Harry is doing his thing. What a nice surprise for the people who went to watch it. Must have been such a shock to see Harry in front of the screen and he took selfies with the people. He is a good person.

Kaiser – I thought it was known (or assumed) that he would show up since the screening was for a military audience and San Diego is where he first watched the Warrior Games, which were the inspiration for the Invictus Games. I actually assumed both he and Meghan were going to pop into the screening.
But anyway, it was great to see the pics of him and love the mutual appreciation and love between him and the audience. I can’t wait to watch it…have to wait until I have some time when I can have a good cry as I watch.
Chula Vista is not downtown San Diego, or Coronado. Its not a rich town. Its a middle class area. I lived there when I was a Navy wife. I think its awesome Harry went to a place where so many ordinary military families live,
I bet Meghan was prohibited from attending the screening because of the SAG-AFTRA strike, which doesn’t apply to Harry.
@SussexWatcher, the inspiration for the Invictus Games came from Harry watching the Warrior Games in 2013 near Colorado Springs, CO. He was in San Diego in this past June for the Warrior Games

Okay, I’ve watched one and half episodes so far. The emotions. GAH It’s compelling, interesting, heartbreaking, heartwarming, funny and makes you think about your own determination to get things done when you don’t have a disability. Very inspirational and educational.
You would have to be a complete nutjob to complain about this series from what I’ve seen. Real life. ‘Taira’ and the things she says. Love her. paraphrasing, “You can hold it, it’s not my boob.”. howling They all have such amazing stories and experiences so far. I cried, laughed and felt uplifted from the 1.5 episodes I’ve watched.
This is great. Just a heads up the British press are already melting down about the docuseries because Harry said he had no support structure around him to help with his PTSD after returning from Afghanistan.
Oh, yes, the meltdown has started. And there was some venom late yesterday about how Harry is disrespecting the veterans by making Invictus all about him. Like they ever cared about the veterans before.

Even when he was still working for the “The Firm” Harry knew how to dip in on the DL…I remember in 2017 he & Michelle Obama made a surprise visit to Hyde Park High School (my alma mater ❤️) on the Southside of Chicago & that news didn’t come out for several days…just spent the time hanging with the kids…I DO ADORE ME SOME HARRY❣️❣️❣️

Harry has put a face on the invictus games which I’d imagine helps in funding. So yeah veterans are likely grateful he’s out there doing that so the games can continue. Love seeing him out and about in his community, having a good time. So the sources “close to Harry and Meghan” always have the “scoop” on their marriage and business dealings, but not on the simple things like him surprising guests at a screening and having a great time. We see them 😂😏
San Diego makes sense. It’s close(ish) to Santa Barbara, and it has both a Navy and Marine Corps base.
It’s almost a 4 hour drive.
San Diego is on the border of Mexico. Its as close to Santa Barbara as Miami is to Savannah. And there are many military bases in the San Diego area, so, yes, it was a great choice.

Just for the record, Prince Andrew was a helicopter pilot in the Falklands War, Prince Philip served in the Navy in the Med during WWII and was mentioned in despatches. George VI served in the Navy aged 21 at the Battle of Jutland in WWI.
And, Elizabeth was a truck mechanic for the army in WWII
Jazzy, there have been statements from those serving with him that make it clear that PA was an entitled idiot. He may have been a helicopter pilot, but I would be AMAZED if he was ever in any danger. Prove me wrong. I’m willing to change my mind.
Any veteran who actually faced combat ends up needing some kind of assistance. Watching people get killed or maimed is not a normal thing. Andrew didn’t see any of that. Plus the falklands “war” was maggie thatcher being xenophobic and proving conservative women are just as bad as conservative men. It lasted a week.
It’s slightly more risk than Charles or William faced, but not by much.
Philip was the only other recent royal outside of Harry who was in a war zone where there was risk.
I remember Prince Andrew served, because he used that on his interview as a reason for how he couldn’t be dancing with the trafficked girl in the club. He couldn’t sweat because of his service, remember? That’s what he did most with his service, used it as a some sort of alibi.
Wouldn’t surprise me at all if he knew people there. Large US military presence and also a very popular place for former military folks to retire to.
Just watched the Heart of Invictus. It is extremely inspiring and eye opening. I don’t have the issues that the individuals spot lighted do, but listening to their stories understanding their limitations made me realize that I have imposed limitations on myself unnecessarily stemmed out of fear and childhood trauma.

Came here to say the same! Just watched the whole thing and It was inspiring! I can see why his family is so jealous of Prince Harry. He is everything they can never be because he healed his childhood trauma. And hurt people hurt… it’s sad. All that wealth. All of those resources and yet…they are stuck living in their hurt.
Harry is JUST like his mom. Im watching now on Netflix and it is so good. Harry has a heart of gold and is so passionate about it. That’s why it has become so successful.
