The last time the Duchess of Sussex and the Princess of Wales were in the same general area was one year ago, during the ten-day hostage situation around QEII’s funeral. The Windsors imposed themselves on Harry and Meghan and they wanted the world to see them treat Harry and Meghan like sh-t. At various points during the funeral events, Meghan genuinely looked frightened and traumatized, especially on that walkabout with William and Kate. I’m so pleased that Meghan has completely avoided the UK for a full year, and I hope that she manages to ignore and avoid her husband’s family for as long as possible. Instead of focusing on what Meghan has said on the record about what those awful people did to her, Andrew Morton is now saying that Meghan has been avoiding the UK because… she doesn’t want to curtsey to Kate.
The Duchess of Sussex will not want to return to the UK in the future and face curtseying to the Princess of Wales, a royal biographer has suggested. Andrew Morton, who collaborated with Diana, Princess of Wales on his 1992 book Diana: Her True Story, ruled out a move back from the US for Meghan and the Duke of Sussex.
Mr Morton, asked whether he thought the Sussexes would ever come back to Britain, told Sky News’ Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips: ‘What, and have Meghan Markle curtseying to Kate Middleton? I don’t think so. I don’t see that as a runner. They’ve got their own lives in California.’
Royal Highnesses bow and curtsey only to majesties, so Meghan would only have to do so to Kate once the princess becomes Queen.

Because titles, curtseying, buttons, royal styles and royal patronages are so important to William and Kate, they assume it must be eating up Harry and Meghan that they are “lower” than W&K. Question for British Celebitches: for argument’s sake, let’s just say that for some reason, the Sussexes do go back and Meghan is in Kate’s presence. What would happen if she just…didn’t curtsy to Kate? She’s an American citizen; she’s not required to.
I know that obviously KP would be on the phone immediately to some tabloid to trash M over the non-curtsy, but whatever— they find *something* to trash her over every day anyway, even when she hasn’t been seen in months. It’s not like they can haul her off to the Tower of London.
IMO she should maybe (MAYBE) curtsy to Charles if they’re ever around the family again, or else just not curtsy to any of them. It’s just customary; it’s not like it’s a crime or something. I highly doubt Eugenie ever expected M to curtsy to her (before the wedding).
I think Meghan always curtsied to the Queen out of respect, but the rest of them? She should never bother, ever again.
As Morton explains it would never arise until (or if) Kate becomes Queen when William is King. In theory she would then have the style of Majesty and all the HRH”s and below would be expected to bow or curtsey. However, they can simply choose not to.
Camilla is now a Majesty but I doubt if every royal curtseys or bows to her. Kate will, at least on public occasions, because Camilla is effectively her boss. Others in the royal family who do not have any official duties, probably don’t.
There is no longer any obligation to curtsey… I would never curtsey to Charlie, Cam, Willi or Kate were I ever to meet them. And I am British… but frankly I don’t like singing our national anthem anymore either. I want to be proud to be British (which I am ) without having to sing about God … any God… saving Charlie boy.

Unfortunately I think that’s a myth. Harry didn’t get any money from the Queen Mother and I doubt he inherited anything from the Queen and her husband. To avoid inheritance tax, the monarch leaves everything to the heir.

Harry has something in the region of £30 million inherited money. This may have come entirely from Diana’s legacy, which was invested and managed for him. This is his basic security and he will want to pass it on to his children rather than spend it. This is why he was anxious to find ways of earning a substantial income. Without the support from his father he needed to fund security and provide for his family.

Curtsying is important not just to will and Kate but the entire aristo/ upper & middle classes in Britain. It’s why they project so much on to Meghan. They just can’t fathom someone who doesn’t care about curtsies or hierarchy cuz that’s ALL they care about. That was Carole and Kates dream. So it MUST be Meghan’s dream. The second she chose to leave is the moment the British royals and media ceased to understand anything about Meghan and her motivations cuz they would never ever think to make the same choice.
It also shows that while they never understood Meghan, she understands them perfectly. She knows exactly what they want from her and she won’t give them a single crumb. Kick ’em in the balls Meghan!
I promise you, curtsying is not important to the vast majority of Brits, including the middle classes. Carole and Kate are outliers and delusional. I dare say most people would have curtsied to the late Queen out of respect, but it is really not at all important.
Meghan WILL go back to the UK, just not to that den of vipers/cujos (my new descriptor for them). (I dont know what they will do about funerals (Edward does not look well), I guess they will go but now they know the drill of how they will be treated, they can make a plan to avoid that.

@Jan, FYI– Harry & Meghan had asked Archbishop Welby to marry them and to give the wedding address. It was actually Welby’s idea to ask Bishop Curry to give the address (not supposed to have been a sermon) because of Curry’s position as head of the Episcopalian Church of America (Episcopal religion in America is kindred to Anglican religion in UK). Welby also said he’d heard that Curry was “a dynamic speaker.” 😉 Neither Welby nor M&H had ever met Curry in person prior to the day of the royal wedding.
Apparently, Welby may have figured since Bad Dad was raised Episcopalian, that some kind of connection was being made in that aspect. NOT! Meghan was raised Protestant. Her maternal grandfather was a Baptist minister. And, in any case, Bad Dad obviously has not been a practicing Episcopalian since childhood.
We Americans don’t “have” to curtsey to anyone, and certainly not to a woman who has done nothing to earn anyone’s respect.
After watching the feast of all Meghan and Harry feasts delivered over the last week I am completely shut down about the RF. They just look so old and sad and miserably out of date. I would love to stop hearing about them at all and that includes all the desperate media that are sounding more and more foolishly out of step.
They’ll try to denigrate her by using Hollywood and celebrity but the thing is they can’t bring up anything legitimate in comparison. The only reason they’re even going to the rugby thing is because Harry attending the football match with Messi seemed to have given them a bit of motivation.
This is such a juvenile and frankly disturbing take. Once again trying to shift blame onto Meghan. Why should she curtsey to this woman? She hasn’t earned respect. Those people, Kate included, caused serious harm to Meghan, had a very deliberate role in the breakdown of her relationship with her father, continue to smear her and treat her and her kids like sh*t, and revoked their security and residence. Kate has done nothing to earn any respect as far as I’m concerned. If Kate expects curtseys.it makes her look bad.

They do absolutely care for titles.
They care for the titles because the BRF try so wrongly to deny what is rightfully theirs. This isn’t about status or marketing, but the fact that as soon as Meghan became pregnant, suddenly Prince Harry’s children were no longer worthy of being recognized as Royals because their mother is Black/biracial. I am a Brit and would never curtsey, not that I will ever meet any of them, so why should Meghan? I am guessing she found all that crap ridiculous and she’s not wrong.
I’m American and I honestly can’t see myself curtsying to anyone in that family (or anyone at all, really). Maybe a little half bow or something, but that would be my limit. So I can’t say I blame Meghan for not wanting to (if this story is even true), especially given how they put her through the wringer. But somehow I suspect that’s not the only reason M wouldn’t want to come back, like…. aren’t their UK security arrangements still somewhat up in the air and unresolved???? That seems to me to be THE big reason. I’d bet if they are able to get a satisfactory security arrangement in place Meghan and the kids would accompany Harry to the UK periodically, for charity events or to visit his friends (or maybe to go to a concert and get loved up and spontaneously dance, that would be hilarious).

PS: You don’t have to be American to not curtsey to the royals! Like regular British citizens can also skip it, and many do when meeting the royals.
Hello all, long time reader, rare comentor 😊 I saw what he said as a dig to Kkkhate… as in, he uses her commoner name and therefore implies why would MM bow to a commoner? As in Meghan bowing is beneath her. Which it is. Maybe I’m wrong but for me this is another one of those subtle shades we’ve see RR/ experts throw at the RF lately. And I’m all for it!
Andrew Morton is the Royal biographer equivalent of the football player who caught a great pass once and still gets his drinks bought for him in his hometown bar. I met him on his tour around his newest round of drinks, The Queen. First, he does not like Harry – he said hot head who can get in a fight even if he is the only person in the room (this was before Spare) Secondly his anecdotes are all third party at this point including the one about the Queen meeting a tourist and taking a picture for them. He just rehashes stuff that others have written.
Anyone who wonders about bowing to Kate only needs to find the pic of Sir David Attenborough attempting to bow to Kate. He’s old, not in great shape, and struggling to bow. But the kicker is the expression on Kate’s face. She has a superior smirk while he struggles, as if this is her due, and she’s enjoying watching his discomfort. Kate just can’t hide what a bitch she is.
Personally, I am thrilled that Archie & Lili will be raised without that crap being bred into them as children.
