Adam Lambert is allowed to do pre-taped segment on “The View,” live “SYTYCD”

The fallout from “CrotchGate 09” doesn’t seem to be harming American Idol alum Adam Lambert’s career as much as previously expected. After grabbing his crotch, shoving his guitarist’s face in said crotch, fondling a female back-up dancer’s crotch, and an impromptu tonsil-hockey session with a male keyboardist in a nationally-televised performance on the American Music Awards, Adam Lambert was quickly banned from any further live performances on the ABC network, including an appearance on “Good Morning America” and Jimmy Kimmel’s New Year’s Eve show. But despite the controversy, there are other shows who are welcoming Lambert – including ABC’s “The View.” But don’t expect anymore crotch follies – The View is pre-taped, for your viewing pleasure.

‘American Idol’ runner-up Adam Lambert landed in trouble for locking lips on ABC, with his controversial same-sex kiss on the recent AMA broadcast. This time he’s smooching the network itself, as ABC plays a little kiss-and-make-up with Lambert following the singer’s dismissal from multiple ABC appearances. PEOPLE is reporting that Lambert will appear on ‘The View’ Thursday.

Lambert’s provocative performance on the American Music Awards – in which he thrust his crotch into a dancer’s face, dragged two male dancers around on a leash and engaged in a makeout session with his male keyboardist – preceded the singer’s dismissal from ‘Good Morning America’ and the New Year’s Eve episode of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live.’

In a Twitter post last week, Lambert told his fans “Yes, sadly friends, ABC has cancelled my appearances on Kimmel and NYE. 🙁 don’t blame them. It’s the FCC heat.” As PopEater pointed out in an earlier post, the FCC does not regulate programming after 10 o’clock, meaning the ‘Kimmel’ performance would not have faced any scrutiny from the government regulatory office.

Lambert’s visit to the ladies of ‘The View’ will be pre-taped – ABC can rest assured there will be no on-air shocks from the edgy performer. The appearance airs a day after he is honored by ‘View’ panelist Barbara Walters on her ’10 Most Fascinating People of 2009′ special, also on ABC.

Meanwhile, Fox, the network whose “American Idol” discovered the singer, has booked Lambert on its other talent show, “So You Think You Can Dance. Lambert is slated for a live performance on the two-night season finale next week.

While ABC can’t seem to make up its mind on Adam Lambert, Fox has no problem bringing the scandalous, smooch-happy Idol runner-up back to the network that launched him.

The glam rocker is set to take the stage for the two-night season finale of So You Think You Can Dance, airing Dec. 15-16. He’ll sing “Whataya Want From Me,” the latest track off his debut album, For Your Entertainment.

Fox announced the performance this morning, days after ABC struggled over what to do with Lambert following his racy American Music Awards antics.

At first, ABC issued a full-on Lambert ban, pulling the plug on a scheduled appearance on Good Morning America and a New Year’s Eve gig on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Glambert and GLAAD called the move evidence of a “double standard,” and ABC backtracked a bit. Lambert has since been booked to perform this Thursday on The View and will also be featured on Barbara Walters’ 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009 special.

Meanwhile, his upcoming SYTYCD slot will be the envelope-pushing showman’s first time on Fox since he placed second on American Idol’s finale last May.

It’s interesting that Fox has brought Adam over to “SYTYCD,” especially after the flack that show’s producer and judge, Nigel Lythgoe, got for some seemingly homophobic comments he made about two gay male contestants. I wonder what he will have to say about Adam’s performance?

Is anybody else just over this dude already?

  2. Beth says:

Absolutely over him. It really isn’t necessary to make a headline everytime he’s booked or dropped from a show.

  3. Judy says:

@Wow and Beth: Was just going to post the exact same thing the two of you did. I was once an avid fan, and I am SO over him. He totally disgusts me, and I don’t care if he’s heterosexual, gay, or an alien, he is REPULSIVE.

  4. Sister Mary Francis says:

No dont go and fuss up your chances again little Lambie. He is just a kid he is still learning. He will figure out the right temp to serve his dish. Good luck.

  5. sarina says:

Adam’s performance was vulgar, tasteless, and provocative. He should be cancelled from all shows…his publicity tactics are nauseating.

  6. 2drunk2drive says:

I only saw bits and pieces of his performance and it was shocking, but Madonna has done plenty of tasteless things and has always come out on top. So why is everybody coming down so hard on him?

  7. Judy says:

2drunk2drive–now, there’s a name to be proud of. hope you kill yourself instead of an innocent victim the next time you drive drunk.

  8. snowball says:

Judy, you missed the point. Too drunk to drive means he/she is NOT driving. Did you forget the little part that says this is not the place to wish death on someone?

Aaaaanyway. Lambert strikes me as sort of dim. If Baba Wawa thinks he’s one of the most fascinating people of the year, then the apocalypse is upon us.

  9. Tess says:

    Lambert’s Career Trajectory:

    Talented.

    Decadent.

    Neutered.

  10. Judy says:

@Snowball–thanks for correcting me. And I did not wish death upon him–you missed my point. Although I misunderstood his post, in most cases, drunk drivers come out just fine–it’s innocent victims that they kill. And, by the way, I have never wished death upon anyone. I was admonishing him for driving drunk, but, as you said, I misinterpreted his/her screenname.

  11. EMV says:

Nigel Lythgoe is not homophobic. The 2 gay contestants who came together could not dance with the female partners without messing up during the choreography section.

  12. Twisted Sister says:

Did he kill somebody on stage? Because the way you haters are treating the guy is like he’s committed a crime. Get over it, move on. Real fans got him and love him. So that “I used to be an avid fan” up there was not a real fan after all.
