This is Robert Downey Jr. entering the Ed Sullivan Theatre, about to appear on The Late Show last night. This purple scarf is doing something to my brain. RDJ looks really, really f-cking hot here. Not only that, but on the show I’m pleased to say that Downey was the most subdued he’s been in months. Of course, Downey’s “most subdued” is still pretty manic compared to most people, but RDJ seems like a really cool guy once he’s not chattering like a monkey. Anyway, it seemed like David Letterman really likes RDJ, and they talked in a very easy, breezy way the whole interview. Here’s part of the interview, with HuffPo’s transcript of part of the conversation:
Robert Downey Jr.’s troubled past came back to bite him on a recent trip to Japan, where he was promoting ‘Iron Man 2.’
He told David Letterman Wednesday night that he was hassled at the airport for years-old felony convictions, “not recent stuff like you or Tiger.”
“I probably should have seen there was a sign that said ‘No Felons Allowed’ in English and Japanese and I haven’t had that expunged yet,” he said. “You can actually get things expunged but I’ve been pretty busy. So I was detained, I was interrogated. It was a blast.”
“Haven’t you settled up? Haven’t you paid your debts?” Letterman asked.
“Clearly I haven’t paid my debts to Japan,” said Downey.

In other RDJ news, the Iron Man 2 full theatrical trailer was just released, and it pretty much rocks. Yes, RDJ is pretty cool in it, but Mickey Rourke (as “Whiplash”) looks absolutely amazing, and his Russian accent sounds very authentic too! Of course, Scarlett Johansson and Gwyneth Paltrow look like the weakest damn parts of the movie. ScarJo does this weird kind of flip and she ends up on all fours, of course. Boring. ScarJo, not the trailer – the trailer is awesome!

Smokin’ hot. Can’t wait for IM2!
Mmmmmm Mmmm MMMH!
He’s some gooood eyecandy!
Can’t wait for this sequel, looks like a great one!
My inner Marvel Comics geek squeed like a 12 year-old fangirl after watching the trailer; I can’t wait to see this!
@LolaBella — Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! My mom threw out my Marvels when I went to college. I collected them ALL, including Iron Man. BTW, that was in the late 1970s and the comic books went back to 1966. $$$ down the drain.
Love love love the guy.
Am looking forward to Sherlock and IM2.
never had strong feelings either way until I saw RDJ on The Graham Norton show this week on BBC and he was THE most charming guest EVER! Looked fab in Sherlock trailer and actually thanked and named checked the stunt man performing with him in clip. Sometimes actors thank the crew but never by name so that was really a lovely gesture. He was also very gracious to the host and other guests. I am won over. Liked Iron Man a bit but now I really want to see IM 2 and Sherlock as he is a good actor and comes over as a very sweet bloke.
Everyone looks great in the trailer Kaiser. I guess it is expected to have a woman put down another woman or women in this case.
@yeah – I thought that too and their screen time is really short. Not particularly a huge fan of either of them but there really isn’t enough or a reason to call them the weak link. Other than strong feelings against the Goop here.
such beautiful eyes……
The things I would do to that man… 🙂
freckleshoes, I don’t know if you have, but if not watch Chaplin, that is the performance he should have won an Oscar for and the one he won me over with too. I have loved him since and cant tell you how happy I’m that his talent has not been wasted by his addictions and that he is back and better than ever, plus if I could have any man in this world it would be him no doubt, perfect!!
He is pretty amazing and everyone seems to love him. I just worry that he is going to relapse again. I’d love to be wrong on that.
RDJ is really hot! I’ve seen the movie and he’s stil sexy as ever 😀
