Last month, Prince Harry settled the rest of his hacking claims with the Mirror Group, after he won a major hacking victory late last year. The settlement was, I believe, the completion of Harry’s case against the Mirror specifically for their years of hacking and blagging about him. Harry still has several outstanding cases against other outlets, including News UK’s The Sun and the now-shuttered News of the World. News Group Newspapers is Rupert Murdoch’s British media arm, and as many know, the Murdoch-owned media was up to their eyeballs in criminality, hacking and more. Well, Harry’s lawyer David Sherbourne just made some “explosive new allegations.”
Prince Harry’s lawyer leveled explosive new allegations Wednesday that Rupert Murdoch was aware of cover-ups at his British tabloids that used unlawful techniques to spy on the Duke of Sussex and others. Attorney David Sherborne said Murdoch was among the executives who were aware that public statements made about phone hacking and other unlawful information gathering at News Group Newspapers were untrue.
Harry and other claimants, including actor Hugh Grant, sought during the first of a three-day hearing in the High Court to amend their lawsuit against the publisher to include allegations that executives were part of an effort to conceal and destroy evidence of wrongdoing.
“It is inferred that they would not have been carrying out this extensive concealment and destruction strategy without the knowledge and approval of Rupert Murdoch,” Sherborne said in a court filing. Defense lawyer Anthony Hudson said the proposed changes to the case were unnecessary and seemed aimed at “campaigning against the tabloid press” and as a “substitute for a public inquiry.”
“They appear to be designed to grab headlines,” Hudson said.
Harry’s lawsuit against News Group Newspapers is one of three he’s brought against Britain’s biggest tabloids over alleged unlawful activity carried out by journalists and private investigators they hired that came to light after a phone hacking scandal erupted at Murdoch’s News of the World in 2011. The case is tentatively scheduled to go to trial in January.
In the News Group case, Harry and other claimants allege that between 1994 and 2016, journalists at The News of the World and The Sun violated their privacy through widespread unlawful activity that included intercepting voicemails, tapping phones, bugging cars and using deception to access confidential information. It also alleges that executives lied and concealed and destroyed records.
Sherborne said Murdoch was among the executives who either made, endorsed or had someone else make statements — including at public inquiries — to promote the false narrative that there was only “one rogue reporter” at News of the World. “Those individuals, and NGN and News International corporately, were dishonest in making these statements since they knew them to be false at the time they were made,” Sherborne said.
NGN, a subsidiary of News International, said it has settled 1,300 claims for its newspapers, though The Sun has never accepted liability. “Today the claimants have sought to introduce accusations to the civil court against many current and former journalists, staff and senior executives of News International with misleading pleadings and unjustified inferences in a scurrilous and cynical attack on their integrity,” NGN said in a statement.
It’s beyond hilarious to me the lawyers representing the Murdoch-owned newspapers are crying about HARRY seeking headlines and Harry attacking their credibility! It’s important to remember that Harry has apparently been talking to James Murdoch (who is somewhat estranged from his father’s businesses) for years. It’s also important to remember that the Windsors and the British media seemed especially freaked out last year when Harry revealed how much he knew about William’s quiet settlement from NGN and the extent of the Windsors’ knowledge about NGN’s hacking.

Harry’s going after the nasty doer of evil personally. I fear for Harry but Harry usually his ducks in a row when he does stuff.
They can’t say now he is making it up or just being paranoid thanks to the successful case against Mirror. Can’t wait all sh*t they have hidden successfully coming into light. Bunch of cockroaches hiding behind hit pieces. An executive in Washing Post is also implicated. We are gonna get some new hit pieces about Harry & Meghan soon, no doubt.
David Folkenflik of NPR has done some stellar investigative (i.e. ‘journalism’) work for them on new Washington Post CEO, Will Lewis. Specifically, NPR stories of 12/5/23 and 12/20/23 interview are about Lewis’s involvement in coverup of phone hacking scandals including massive deletion of company emails. The 12/20/23 story has audio 🎧. His latest 3/21/24 story builds on prior reporting:

This is the case I’m most interested in and I’m crossing my fingers for Harry’s success. Murdoch has spent a lifetime damaging the press and democracy itself all over the world. I think the interest level in this trial will be very high and the UK media will not be able to control the narrative here. I do think the fact that Harry dropped the tea that he had met James Murdoch and james wanted to talk to Harry was to me very interesting.
Tina, What you said.👍👍
We just refer to him as the “Antichrist” in my home. He has made it his mission and destroyed democracy wherever he goes, he is the immigrant that should have been denied entry imo.
Tina, I totally agree. This is the one to watch on so many different levels.
I am wondering if there is more to come out about Willi’s settlement with the Sun. If there is any sniff of collusion between Willi and The Sun this will spell trouble for Willi. There are also some politicians involved in the case against the Sun. Chris Huhne, former LD MP, settled his case with the Sun before Christmas. The Sun offered him so much money that he could nbot refuse. It would have been to risky for Chris Huhne to go to court. However in a statement afterwards he alleged that his case was no only about gathering gossip but trying to gain political influence. If this can be proven then we go into a different ball game.
This is partly why any talk of Harry wanting to return to the royal fold is nonsense. He would not be able to bring these cases if he’s was still in the UK and a working royal.
It’s beyond time for Murdoch to face some sort of justice. I truly hope Prince Harry wins this, but if nothing else it will all be in court documents now. I do wonder now if they knew this was coming and the great disappearing princess was a hoax to deflect attention. As theories go it might be the most believable.
I read this in some articles (from credible media sources) and was interested to see the man at the Washington Post was named. I bet that those on the Board are going to be asking some questions. We don’t need that crap here in any form.
We knew that Harry wasn’t going to rest until he brought it all out into the light. All I have to say is, buckle up Murdoch.
Will Lewis is the guy. He is the new publisher/CEO at WaPo. I hope they wash their hands of him…. This NPR story has all the gory details: https://www.npr.org/2024/03/21/1239682458/prince-harry-hacking-murdoch-tabloids-will-lewis-washington-post#:~:text=Accusations%20against%20The%20Washington%20Post's%20CEO&text=Lewis%20stands%20accused%20of%20helping,computers%20was%20later%20reported%20missing.
blueberry, thanks for the link. Very interesting.
“Explosive allegations” is funny. More like obvious allegations🙄. Murdoch knows and has always known. Ditto to Rebecca Brooks. And apparently the new ceo of the WP. Which is fascinating. Isn’t this the case that Harry refused to drop? The one that was stressing out Christian Jones. The one in which the family told him to drop or there would be consequences. And when he didn’t, his security was removed abruptly and before the grace period that was agreed upon at the sanfringham summit. May Justice come for them all.
Prince Hot Ginge (RIP D-Listed), showing Angry Huevo how it’s done. Again.
@Water Lilly
OMG I FORGOT ABOUT PRINCE HOT GINGE!!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3
@CESSILY. you make an excellent point about Kate disappearance and Murdoch’s attempt to cover this upcoming trial. Murdoch is truly a questionable being and there is nothing I would put past him. Looking at his picture, I’m reminded of formaldehyde in the blood. Something has to keep him alive. I’m joking , of course, so don’t lecture me on formaldehyde’s properties.
I have so much admiration for Harry and his bravery.
What a way to spend your final years: having your name finally linked to the crime your newspapers and their pet executives dragged though the courts.
