I have no idea if this month’s polling numbers genuinely reflect the mood of the country, but I genuinely believe two things with all my heart: one, that a lot of stupid people conveniently forget just how evil Donald Trump is and the media should be doing more to remind them; and two, that there a huge swath of American voters who are underrepresented in current polling methodology and that swath of voters f–king hates Donald Trump. Call it a “silent majority” of Americans who despise all things Trump. They are rarely shown in media coverage because Trump and his people carefully stage his rallies and his events so that he’s always kept in a bubble with his unhinged supporters. Bad things happen when he leaves that bubble. Speaking of…
On Saturday, Trump appeared at the Libertarian National Convention and those libertarians were not having any part of his bullsh-t. They greeted him with extreme hostility, and they spent a huge chunk of his speech booing him and heckling him. I was reading Reuters’ coverage and it turns out that libertarians will never support him because they blame HIM for the public health restrictions during the pandemic and for rushing the creation of the Covid vaccine. Which is kind of funny, considering that man was literally telling Americans to inject bleach into their veins to kill the virus. Anyway, this was funny as hell.

No, Donnie, we saw and heard you getting booed BIGLY, and we fucking LOVED it! “The enthusiasm of the crowd” my ass! And saying Kennedy “destroys everything he touches”? That’s YOUR tag! #RickWilson even wrote a book, “Everything Trump Touches Dies”! LOSER! pic.twitter.com/SlSL5w0z2Q

Donald Trump is going to lose in November. He lost in 2020 and he is going to lose this election cycle as well.
Don’t underestimate the stupidity of people. I’m scared that people don’t like Biden enough to even vote. Please encourage everyone you know to vote for Biden even if they don’t like him. We need to squash Drumpf.
YES. THIS. VOTE! Get your friends to vote!
Our lives actually do depend on it.
Reminder – you do not have to LIKE Joe Biden to vote against Trump, but I am begging you to vote.
@Lucille: yes! So many people think they’re ‘exercising their social conscience’ by not voting, but holy hell, that’s the equivalent to voting for trump. VOTE!! And vote for Biden-Harris!!
sadly, I expect a repeat of 2016. Trump. for all intents and purposes, has the support of the far left and a very large proportion of Zoomers who want to punish Biden & the democrats for Israel (and, yes, they are fully aware how much worse Trump will be for the Palestinian people as well as how bad Trump will be for POC, LGTBQ, women, immigrants and Muslims).
Not voting for Biden because of Gaza is cutting off your nose to spite your face. Trump and the Republicans absolutely adore Netanyahu and will greenlight everything he does there. They want to invite him to address congress!
Yes, Netanyahu wants Trump back in the White House.
I do not think they realize it. It’s one thing to be young and idealistic, but be practical!
There are other ways to show your frustration with the current administration. Ways that don’t lead to the further disenfranchisement of US citizens. Protest, write your Congress people. Anything but refuse to vote. It also helps to realize that what is happening overseas is a long term high stakes chess game. No one wants to see innocent people dying. Bad decisions were made in the past though and this is the consequence of that. Don’t blame Biden. The man knows what it’s like to lose family members in a tragic way. This stuff has to be difficult for him.
The best way to circumvent your prediction is to educate people. I just saw a poll that over 50% of Americans believe that we are in a recession and that the stock market is low. Two false pieces of information. We need to have conversations with everyone so they understand what is really going on.
PottyMouth,
Trump has the support of the far left???? And when did this happen???
Has hell frozen over??
Also, Biden and the democrats SHOULD be punished for Gaza, but not by electing Trump, which I seriously doubt any significant number of liberals would ever do, anyway. That is a fantasy
The only person who I think needs to be punished is whoever applied Trumps fake tan recently. I mean geez, did they even TRY not to leave a white line around his face???
“Trump. for all intents and purposes, has the support of the far left …”
🙄 🙄 🙄
We can hope he will lose but there are some out there that don’t like Biden. All we can do is get out there and vote. I am happy about some of Nikki Haley’s voters are not happy with her backing trump and went to Washington to see Biden. She has a big voter base so that is great that they are going to see Biden. I love seeing trump get booed outside his maga bubble.
Susan Collins,
I think Biden could win back a lot of voters if he would become ALOT LOT LOT more proactive about helping the innocents Gazans and HALTING aid to Netanyahu
As someone said in the post above not voting for Biden because of Gaza is cutting your nose off to spite your face. You have to pick your poison and what poison will harm you least. Biden will harm you least and will let democracy continue. Vote like you won’t be able to vote again.
And don’t forget: the overwhelming majority of Americans didn’t vote for him in 2016 either. If Trump wins (shudder), it will be because of the electoral college system.
No, if Trump wins it will be because Biden is making the same mistake Hillary did, pompously assuming that voters in swing states have already anointed him, when, in fact, we are sick of his administration’s empty promises that have done nothing for us. Try being somewhere that abortion rights were overturned after Biden had two years to codify Roe v. Wade. He didn’t because he is personally anti-choice and doesn’t actually care about women’s reproductive rights. They were and are just a tool for him to wield to scare voters into electing him. Those of us who are already where his failure of leadership took us know he won’t help.
The president is not a dictator (yet). Biden can’t codify Roe vs Wade on his own. Congress has to do it, and they had the same two years and wouldn’t touch it. Biden would have signed it.
You can blame anti-abortion Democrats like Joe Manchin, and the unwillingness/cowardice of too many moderates to be strong advocates. OR you can blame the Grand Old Fascist Party and Trump for stacking the Court with right-wing nut jobs who want to drag us back a couple centuries. He’s already told us what he’ll do if he gets in office again, and this time we need to believe him.
Maybe people actually voting would help too.
That was up to Congress to do something. They put something together but couldn’t get traction and it sounds like it was crummy anyway. https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2022/8/22/23306142/kaine-collins-codify-roe-abortion-congress
Chaine, well, you do know that the legislation has to pass through the House and Senate before Biden can sign a bill, right? Go back and look at the makeup of both of those houses before you blame it on one man. If you think Manchin was going to roll over for the Dems, think again.
Frankly, with the House we have now, I’m amazed anything has gotten done–the Republicans have tried really hard to make sure nothing was.
I live in a blood red state. Like, we are never going to get within miles of becoming the slightest shade of purple. IN THEORY, my vote doesn’t mean jack in my state. The Cheeto will win my state by a landslide.
But did I know who I was voting for in 2024, on January 8, 2021? You betcha (well, technically the day it was declared for Biden but I can’t remember that exact day
I do know i did a happy dance). Will I line my ass up with all the crazy MAGAts for early voting so that I can cry, once again, to vote for Kamala Harris? You betcha. Will I declare, in a slightly too loud for polite society voice that I am voting DEMOCRAT? ohhhhh yes.
Meghan, do I love your comment? You betcha!
❤️❤️❤️
Meghan, I am with you. I went from a purple state, to 98% red. But I still vote and it will be Biden. The electoral system is sooooo frustrating.
Be careful with false bravado. Trump ALWAYS under polls. Always. That’s why it was such a shock in 2016. In 2020, it was a landslide, yes, but closer in certain places than expected.
His makeup, or fake tan line, is especially apparent in that top picture. Without it he must be incredibly pale, and without his makeup and pompadour he must be unrecognizable. And the MAGA cultists think he represents a strong image? Fools.
All. They. Care. About. Is. Money.
Yeah, the die-hard libertarians want nothing to do with Trump and may vote 3rd party, but I am afraid that given a choice between a democrat and a republican wingnut, they’re more likely to vote against the democrat.
Kaiser’s picture choice is always ACES. The trick is to not take a mouthful of tea before opening the site.
He has more makeup than a drag king/queen. Ironic, but that’s modern GOP
I live in a world in which a man who looks like that spends copious amounts of his time belittle others for their appearance. And his supports love it. And he’s running for president. There is no god.
💯
I don’t believe the polling indicating a tRump landslide is accurate. I live in a rural area near several major (for the state) metro areas that overwhelmingly supported the tangerine criminal in 2016 and 2020. The tRump merchandise isn’t as prominent as it has been since his emergence in 2015. Only a couple houses have the Magat signs. I haven’t seen any of the gas guzzlers waving the flags. Some of the local news outlets are broadcasting more balanced and less wingnut coverage. Vote and vote blue, but hope isn’t lost if support for the clown is decreasing here. People are at least becoming aware enough not to flaunt it, which seems like the sway he had over certain people may be decreasing.
Same here in my Red state. I am not seeing the yard signs, and flag flying truck brigades. While I am not thinking that the state will turn blue, my hope is that his hold over the common man is dwindling.
100%
I read that before his speech in front of the Libertarians, Secret Service people with confiscating the noisy rubber chickens that were distributed by RFK, JR. I don’t understand how the Secret Service could limit someone’s right to free speech like that. I would have loved to hear the rubber squawking while the orange mass tried to speak.
No there is no God. I’ m scared and I’m not even American. I’ m not looking forward to November and X’mas is looking very bleak indeed.
Lock him up! Enough!
The Libertarians want some awful black market drug dealer who got life in prison released. Right before this convention desperate Don promised to pardon him. Kinda funny it didn’t work. Everyone is on the bad side here.
Bumblebee— Are you talking about the guy who ran The Silk Road (online “marketplace” on the dark web where you could buy drugs and other illegal shit)? He got life in prison for trying to have someone killed. I think his name is Ross, he was highly-educated, really smart, and seemed like a decent guy who got involved in some bad stuff and took a dark turn. I remember reading he was a Libertarian. Interesting case.
K-Peace, well, if he got caught up in some bad stuff, he wasn’t smart enough. He had choices, and he’s responsible for the choices he made.
Yes, Ross. He didn’t get life for trying to get someone killed. According to a statement from the prosecution, his ‘silk road’ was used by drug runners/cartels/mobs worldwide and it got multiple people killed. And he was well aware of this. Don’t help other people commit murder, even over the internet. The feds don’t like that.
You love to see it. The Orange 🤡 getting heckled and booed is priceless. I don’t believe the fake polls showing Trump beating Biden. It’s going to be a race to the finish but I do think Biden will win once everyone starts truly paying attention. The majority of people don’t really tune in to the elections until the National conventions are held. And Trump isn’t as popular as the mainstream media wants him to be.
BTW, did any see the Ken Burns video making the rounds on social media? He was awesome.
https://x.com/D_jeneration/status/1794502739088544062
The Biden campaign should make an ad of that Ken Burns video, then put it on blast.
Now that’s a proper historian, not those poseurs the Daily Fail chooses to feature.
He bungled up his math metaphor, should probably stay in his lane. But, yeah, someone should make an ad.
What this man has done to this country and what the GOP is still pushing for is unforgivable they all need to go imo. I will be Voting straight democrat forever..
Thank you. Wishing the majority of voters do the same. Extremely scared for the country right now.
I think the polls show that women are underrepresented in the polls. The polls have been wrong for every election since 2020.
But didn’t most white women vote FOR Trump the last two times, despite keeping quiet about it, or saying the “right” thing to pollsters? Not holding out much hope. I still remember those hags (forgive me) proudly holding up signs saying “Trump can grab my _ ” as though he would give them a second glance, despite looking just like them.
Magdalena, I believe that the women and the men who support women’s rights will be sending a VERY strong message in November. Getting out to vote is the major issue. I have a feeling women are quite motivated and will be heard.
Ewww, how classy his supporters are!
Yes. In fact, MORE WW voted for him in 2020 than 2016. Trump had 47% of this demographic in 2016 vs 53% in 2020 per PEW.
We need people to vote the way Black women vote!
Eh, I think the media is overhyping this one, and I think it’s dangerous to do so given the polling numbers we are seeing. He’s not wrong that many would prefer to win than prefer to stick to their principles. I’m personally approaching 2024 with the grim expectation that a lot of so-called “progressives” will screw over women and minorities in this country so they can pretend to be principled about things going on overseas (as a convenient cover for their moral and political apathy, of course).
Veronica, don’t put a lot of emotion into polls. Polls are only about the people they poll, and the number of people polled is not just limited, but the pollsters can call the demographic to give them the numbers they want. I hope that having these polls show Trump doing well will just motivate more people to get out and vote blue.
The Libertarians hate him, and apparently his makeup artist does, too 👀
I’d like to know who told him that this was a good look! Jeeez!
I read an article that a day before (I think) Trump’s speech there was a meeting of the Libertarians where it was announced that he would be there. Evidently, the crowd shouted F**k Trump over and over.
@ Chaine Biden was unable to codify Roe v Wade because the Republicans control the House. You don’t have to like Biden but you should vote for him because the issues the democrats are fighting for. Your life and all of our lives will definitely be worse off if that Orange pig is elected. This session of Congress is the worst ever. A relatively small group of Republicans don’t care about doing their jobs and the result is nothing is getting done.
As an American living in a country that overwhelmingly (for the Netherlands) voted in a far right politician, I am going to be voting for Biden (or whoever the Democrat is) come Election Day. For me, there is a distinct difference between Biden and Trump (or whoever is repping the republicans in November). I am not excited to be voting for Joe, but I am highly motivated to block what I see as a huge danger to democracy.
What I’m going to say next may be controversial: Please stop attacking people who post, who clearly normally vote Democrat and do not agree with us! Yelling at someone who is upset and trying to say why they feel that way doesn’t change minds or hearts. They may have a very good reason why they feel alienated. Respectfully, say how not voting for Biden makes you feel, say why you think voting for Biden is better than helping Trump out, but don’t attack someone and make them feel small or stupid because they disagree. Biden is not the strongest candidate and lots of people are not enthusiastic. However, he is not stopping people from voting, he’s the pro-choice candidate, he’s not changing the constitution in favor of a dictatorship!
And if you haven’t already, please sign up to vote!
ML, I have no idea if you include me in that statement or not, but I think it’s important to remind people that the house and senate must each pass the same legislation before it gets to the President to sign. Why people blame the President for the House’s and Senate’s inability to pass legislation is illogical. Opine about what Biden is responsible for himself and we can all debate, but don’t blame him for something that’s outside of his control.
Democracy is on the ballot. It will be for a number of years to come. It doesn’t matter whether you agree with everything someone has done. Instead, let’s get a blue House and blue Senate and a blue President. That’s when we’ll get all kinds of things accomplished. Vote.
Saucy&Sassy, I am deeply worried. In the past decade the far right has raised its ugly head around the world and sucked in some people who I love. Facts and logic and truth do not seem to matter or change people’s minds.
I live in a community that overwhelmingly voted for the far right and a wacky right-populist farmer’s party. My kid who came out of the closet is being bullied. I’ve been asked by regular people to prove that I, an expat, am legally in the country. The public news is scared of being defunded and has stopped reporting the news the way they used to in order to appease those in power. This is in the Netherlands, and in my own country, I have a visceral memory of the Trump years.
I know people who are (of) West Asian (descent) who are traumatized by Biden’s reaction to the Israeli war and how they are treated in the States. I understand why they are upset with and not voting for Biden even though Trump is 20 million times worse. If you speak to people who don’t want to vote for him, and you approach it from your perspective as opposed to why they’re wrong, they might listen. If they feel that “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” you might drive them over to the other side. Most people vote emotionally and dislike being told that they’re idiots and unfortunately we only have two parties to choose between.
A couple of people in the US that I know are truly positive about Biden. Many are less enthusiastic (including in my expat community here), but are afraid of the consequences of not voting. Generally it’s more motivating to vote for someone than against the other side: This is, in my opinion, on the Democrats for choosing Biden. I think it’s fair to say that.
I also think it’s fair to say what happens when a fascist attains power. In the NLs, books, theater, cultural events are going to get a high tax. Environmental laws are being broken. They’re out to change the constitution. We’re getting a bunch of creepy new allies. The press is being silenced. Schools are being accused of training kids to think too democratically and are going to be punished. Immigrants like myself are being targeted. This is why I’m motivated to vote for democracy.
I think support for Trump has softened. I’m cautiously optimistic, despite polls, that the vote in November will not go Trump’s way.
Let’s vote and hand the orange human 💩stain his a—.
I am trying to remain optimistic despite the polls and the fact that Trump still has so many diehard supporters. But he lost in 2020, and despite gerrymandering, etc., the only way he can win in 2024 is if his supporters grew in number since then. They have not. Everyone was predicting a “red wave” (or “red tsunami” as Ted Cruz said) at the last round of elections, and it obviously didn’t happen. In 2016, Trump was a new face on the political scene, slammed Washington, said the country needed a businessman to drain the swamp, etc. He could be funny and personable and even though I couldn’t stand him, I understood to some extent why people voted for him. He had a lot of energy, talked a lot about all the amazing things he was going to do if elected, etc. Now he seems like a bitter lunatic. Obviously he still appeals to racists, the uneducated and the rich people who think he’ll make them richer. But I know plenty of people who voted for him in 2016 who would never vote for him now. Again, I am trying to remain optimistic because if he wins, this country is finished.
After the horrible Memorial Day message that he posted that was all about him and everyone who is “against” him, I’m surprised if he doesn’t lose more support.
If you are still with him at this point you are seriously missing something in your head and soul. You are an awful person just like him.
I can’t believe that he is a former president.
In contrast Joe and Kamala at the dignified ceremony at Arlington to honor our military who gave their lives. Not making it about THEM. That is a how a president acts.
