Prince William was asked about Kate and he said ‘she’s getting better, yeah’

Prince William joined King Charles and Queen Camilla in Portsmouth on June 5th for the pre-D-Day anniversary events. British WWII veterans came out and William, Charles and Camilla spent some brief one-on-one time with some of those men, most of whom are either close to 100 years old or past the century-mark. One of the older gentlemen decided to do some investigating while he was in Portsmouth. As soon as William leaned over to talk, the older man said: “I was going to ask you if your wife is getting any better?” William quickly answered: “Yes, she’s getting better, yeah.” Then William added: “She’d love to be here today.”

I think the Telegraph misquotes William – he didn’t say “she would’ve loved to be here today,” he said she’d love to be here today.” A distinction without a difference really, but I find it odd that so many people are misquoting it. So, there you go, an update on Kate’s condition. Kate is present tense. Kate IS getting better. Kate WOULD love to be in Portsmouth. Things might be going t-ts up behind the scenes, but they gave William some lines and he happily recited them. I’m a little bit surprised that any of the veterans asked about Kate. Although… I always said, Kate is good with older folks. Seniors find her cute, and she’s more natural with seniors than she is with kids.

In the video, you can also see Camilla greeting a veteran with a lot of warmth, to her credit. You can also see that British paratroopers staged a recreation of “jumping on Normandy.” Hilariously, because of Brexit, French customs officers were waiting on the ground to check the Brits’ papers.

That’s what he has been saying for the last few weeks, nothing new to see here. Though I bet he gets annoyed and gets anxiety of such impending questions.

    • Nubia says:

No one can blame you, something is definitely up. I thought that he may have wanted a divorce and she probably didnt take it to well and made threats. He probably lashed out and they are silencing her.

    • It sounds like even he doesn’t believe what he is say. “She is getting better yeah”? Come on Peg way to sell it.

    • Joyful Liluri says:

      @mila

That is a deeply scary possibility that many of us have considered. If only due to the four lane highway of bread crumbs the UK media has paved regarding his temper over the past decade plus. William is well known for having a terrible temper.

Although part of me does wonder since we know that the media cannot be trusted. They do protect the heir at all costs.

But then why have they been posting about his extreme temper ? Assuming they were setting the stage for something. But at who’s request?

The truth that we know is that he physically attacked Harry. And that the media, at times, acknowledges yet downplays Williams temper. Throwing pillows etc.

    • Julianna says:

@Mila. It’s absolutely possible. One only has to look at his actions, the lies, this craziness, fake photos/videossŵ and the timeline to see that it certainly can be them covering up something nefarious. Something more nefarious than Kate “self harming”.

    • SamuelWhiskers says:

I think at this point anything other than her already actually being dead is absolutely a possibility.

  2. Giddy says:

William is the master of the sincerely insincere statement.

    • Seraphina says:

I try to not make too much out of what I read unless I see the body language and hear the voice infliction, but I agree with your statement. For some reason it strikes me odd that he can’t at least put an effort into some sincerity in his answer to his wife’s health. Especially when there is great probability someone will ask. It’s almost like he’s thinking, why bother???

    • Harper says:

William is a smooth and practiced liar. Anyone who can charter a Flybe jet and then get the tabloids to lie about the entire Wales family flying to Balmoral commercial will have no problem saying whatever is most convenient to make the How Is Kate? questions go away. Plus he would never give a rundown of her stats on an engagement.

      • Jais says:

Practiced liar is a good description. Just thinking about flybe makes me annoyed. What a complete d*ck. Was that done while Meghan was pregnant? I can’t remember.

      • Harper says:

@Jais it was a few months after Archie was born. So H&M flew private with a newborn and Willy decided to publicly skewer them in cooperation with the tabloids.

      • Jais says:

Thanks @harper. Such a blatant backstab jeez. William has no honor, my god.

      • First comment says:

Thanks @Harper, for reminding us what kind of liar William is…he also lied about the wedding proposal he made to Kate and he lied about the way he took care of Harry.. there is a video circulating with William and Harry just before Harry left for Afghanistan, I think…William played the role of the big brother who constantly picks up his brother’s mess and things in the house…he made the whole interview about that…Harry seemed uncomfortable
and was silenced during his rant… now, after Spare, we know that their closed relationship was far from the truth

      • Becks1 says:

@FirstComment I think Harry talks about that interview in Spare and how uncomfortable he was because William was lying so much and he knew he couldn’t correct him.

      • First comment says:

@Becks1, I didn’t know it was the same interview! Harry definitely doesn’t have a poker face 😆. It’s obvious that he is uncomfortable with the tales William says!

      • SamuelWhiskers says:

Don’t forget when he had secret political meetings in Scotland and threatened Krishnan Guru-Murthy (who is a beloved and hugely well-respected TV newsreader and journalist) with false arrest by lying that he was trespassing on royal grounds to try to get the news story suppressed.

I started publicly referring to him as Kim Jong William after that.

        Disgraceful and corrupt.

  3. Brassy Rebel says:

Wait …what? Customs was there to check British paratroopers’ passports? It’s a very good thing that they didn’t do that in 1944. The French would be speaking German today. Also, I wonder what the paratroopers thought when instructed to pack their passports. 🤔

    • Amy Bee says:

I don’t think soldiers are asked to see their passports when they’re storming a country during a state of war.

      • Brassy Rebel says:

Joking, Amy Bee! The Germans were already there and they didn’t have passports either.

    • SarahCS says:

Enough British people voted for Brexit that we have to live with ALL the consequences. They wanted to stop the free flow of people between the UK and the rest of Europe and they did just that.

      • ML says:

SarahCS, Many other countries in Europe were dying to be next (in fact some people in the NLs were screaming for a Nexit), until they were forced to see what the consequences were. Talk of the EU splitting up has sort of stopped, thanks to having the reality of Brexit there. I’m so sorry that you’re suffering because of it and hope that down the line you may return.

      • FlamingHotCheetos2021 says:

@ML Well, I guess there’s some good come of it, then. If the UK cannot lead by example they can still be an example…of what not to do.

    • ML says:

Technically, Normandie was occupied by the Nazis in 1944. The parachutists weren’t being asked for their passports so much as being shot.

This consequence of Brexit is somewhat amusing though. These guys had to jump with their passports to be able to go through customs upon landing. Wild!

    • Lemons says:

I mean, it makes sense. They probably will spend at least a couple of days on French soil, so the administrative stuff needs to be done. And it does make for a good story!

      • ML says:

And let’s face it, the French are heading to the polls on 9 June for the EU election: They want the anti-EU voters to get visuals of what happens.

    • Lau says:

It was a very funny situation and the DM had a fit so that made it hilarious.

  4. Seraphina says:

How insulting to see those medals pinned to Willaims chest for these men honored there today. Chuck too – a life of entitlement is what they are for.
Lastly, those poor elderly out in the sun – they could not put them in the shade?????
As far as Kate, until proof – real proof is shown or Ma Middleton comes out of hiding – I don’t believe a word from the House of Windsor.

    • Tessa says:

Charles and William should not be wearing medals. Insulting to real heroes.

    • Miranda says:

This. It’s always offensive to see the unearned medals, but today of all days, they should have left them at home. They should be ashamed to wear them in front of men who played a part in LITERALLY SAVING THE WORLD 80 years ago.

    • ncboudicca says:

Amen. They always look silly, but on an occasion like this they look utterly disgraceful. This is not a place or occasion for this stupidity.

    • QuiteContrary says:

I could not agree more, Seraphina. It’s a travesty.

Charles and William have been pampered their whole lives — they wouldn’t know the first thing about courage and selflessness.

It’s galling to see them wearing fake medals in the presence of real heroes.

  5. Amy Bee says:

Well I guess we got an update. I don’t understand how the British press is satisfied with that and not asking for an official update. Anybody who says that Meghan was protected is deluded.

  6. SussexWatcher says:

Can’t keep their stories straight for even 24 hours. Yesterday it was, she’s so ill she’ll never be back in the same role. But today it’s, she’s getting better and would have loved being here (AKA her same role).

I’m really hoping the truth comes out after Trooping. Enough is enough with the daily telling of lies.

    • SamuelWhiskers says:

The different stories contradict so much I do wonder whose team is responsible for which, and what their agendas are.

Is William’s camp pushing the “won’t be seen again” narrative (which certainly feels like someone is setting the stage for her to exit public life forever), or the “swimming! Baking! School run!” narrative (which feels like someone putting heavy pressure on Kate to get back to work, because people are increasingly asking why elderly active-cancer sufferer Charles is working, but Kate had successful cancer surgery six months ago, is supposedly only having preventative chemo, can run around all day shopping and doing sports, yet apparently won’t be able to do so much as a Zoom or a quick balcony wave until 2025??).

I would assume the former, but then KP arranged the AI mother’s day photo (where the agenda was clearly to try to portray Kate as the figure of health) and I believe the farm shop pap stroll was William with a lookalike (which seemed to have the same intention). So I can’t figure it out at all.

      • blueberry says:

I think Will’s agenda is that she’s fine. She has to be “fine” so that he doesn’t look callous for leaving a sick wife. Perhaps things have changed now and circumstances are such that she can’t come back at all so they are switching to a retirement due to health reasons. But I don’t know if KP would be talking to American media or not? Could they be talking to the Americans since they’ve told the British to shut up about it?

      • Andrea says:

It’s what Omid Scobie told us..,that Rota will go to American tabloids to get real story out.

  7. Becks1 says:

Well of course she’s getting better, we knew that from the errand running and early morning swimming in Norfolk!! /sarcasm

I mean at least he recited his line, but I do think there is increasing pressure on KP at this point to issue an official update, especially if she misses Trooping and Wimbledon.

    • Seraphina says:

Don’t forget eating crabs in downtown Baltimore. But if she were truly better, would she not hop down to DC to meet with FL Jill to talk about early development????

  8. Agnes says:

Baldy looks less drawn and more moisturized than he did a few months ago. Rehab’s been good for him. Where is Kate, though?

  9. Tessa says:

William is very cold hearted. I think he likes her not being there so he can play statesman. What is with his hair seems to be some more strands on top of his head

    • Pinkosaurus says:

Those hairs at the top are very Homer Simpson so if he’s doing anything to grow back hair, it’s actually just emphasizing his baldness. He really should just trim all of it close and embrace the huevo. It would make him seem more confident.

  10. Jay says:

How funny would it be if William had been like “Kate Who? Oh, how would I know?”

In all seriousness, he’s finally been coached on a response and manages to mostly contain his irritation about being asked, so kudos to whoever did that thankless job. It still sounds as though he’s talking about a distant work acquaintance though. Next time, maybe sound as though you have seen her recently? “I just looked in on Kate before I headed out this morning and she hopes she will be well enough to visit soon” or something like that. My feeling is that this will be a prolonged absence, so he’ll have time to get better at it.

    • Jais says:

I didn’t listen to the video but I can believe he’s managed to mostly contain his irritation at being asked. It’s just funny how they’re always surprised and somewhat irritated when they’re publicly asked something unscripted. Of course people are asking about Kate and he shouldn’t be surprised. So he’s ready to give a quick and vague response now. He should get used it. It reminds of the look on Kate’s face when Andrea Mitchell dared to ask her about meeting lilibet. William has at least managed to keep that look of slow horror off his face.

    • Feeshalori says:

She’s still your wife, no matter how you feel about her, so you shouldn’t be shocked or irritated that people are naturally asking for her. Get with the program, William! And I can’t watch any of these videos where he appears, he aggravates me too much. And his behavior is too off in public for a man with a cancer-stricken wife.

  11. Lady Digby says:

A senior MET officer officer is currently facing a misconduct hearing for wearing a medal he is NOT entitled to wear re serving in the Falklands war when he was only 15! He also appears to have extended his military career, claiming attendance at a prestigious college and various high level postings which he APPLIED FOR but did not get. I shook my head when I read the charges he faces because if found guilty of lying on his application form, aggrandizing his military service record and achievements he will be disgraced and sacked.

I was very humbled and moved by the grace and courage of the veterans who were speaking yesterday and today. I don’t know how Chuck and Will can flaunt a chest of medals in the company of such gallant men and women. The Met officer is being held accountable if he is falsely claiming service and yet the Royals are lorded for military cosplay and bottle top medals: it does not seem right or fair.

  12. Simba's Mom says:

Passports!!! 😂😂😂. Brexit and Megxit! Passports checks/tarriffs No H and M access or photos = Starving Tabloid Reporters!!!😂😂😂

  13. Mimi says:

Part of the reason the conspiracy theories persist is because of Willie’s behavior. He has never behaved like a man whose young wife has been stricken with an illness that requires months of recovery time. Like someone on another board said, he seems bored/annoyed/unconcerned with the topic of Kate’s health. Whenever he does answer a question about her, it’s like he’s talking about a 3rd cousin or something. I’m starting to think he doesn’t know how she’s doing because he hasn’t bothered to check on her in probably God knows when. She’s with her “birth family” so it’s not his problem.

    • Lady Digby says:

@Mimi agreed dude sounds so detached , doesn’t he? Many of us here believe that they have been separated for a while and even if they are legally separated and a divorce is pending but even so, they have a long relationship and three young children who love and need her. After losing his own mother so young, he would not want his own children to experience such a grief and surely if she were very unwell he should be worried sick about her and the kids? But he really does seem to be a “me first kind of person.” I hope his “nonchalence” indicates that she is indeed on the mend? What is going on ?

    • Mel says:

I’m holding to my theory that he asked for a divorce, and she announced her illness to halt him in his tracks (what kind of jerk leaves their sick wife?). She is either holding out for reconciliation or a much better deal than Diana got. She’s digging in and that’s why her thirsty Mother has been so quiet, and he’s detached because he honestly does not know or care what’s going on with her, he just wants her gone. The slimy court folks are scrambling because Kate is usually a docile team player and now not only is she NOT a team player, she’s looking to sink the entire ship if she doesn’t get her way. She is not going to let her chance to be queen slip through her fingers.

      • Unblinkered says:

This has always been my belief too, Mel.

There’s illness, she wouldn’t dare lie as too many would know the truth, but her absence is only partially explained by medical recovery. She and her debtor mother will be holding out – and will get – retention of the HRH, some continuation of royal duties ie no loss of face, and a massive payout. The latter to keep all the Middleton scroungers in clover for life.
Historically, it’ll be an Anne of Cleves type arrangement.

  14. JFerber says:

The “yeah” at the end of Wily’s statement seems dismissive like he doesn’t give a f-ck how she’s doing, even if she’s no longer alive (which he would certainly know). Just a man utterly bereft of honor, respect, humility and compassion. He is a man with no there there. He is a base man and it is a disgrace he represents England. And the added strands of hair are ridiculous. I believe his hair will all be back once he’s a bachelor again (or that the world knows that he is).
