Carole & Michael Middleton came out for Wimbledon on Thursday

Two weeks ago, something very notable happened at Royal Ascot: Carole and Michael Middleton made their grand reentry into British high society after Party Pieces collapsed into insolvency. Last year, the Middletons were exposed as con artists and habitual liars – Party Pieces’ collapse left a trail of financial destruction – they screwed over local Bucklebury businesses and British vendors, they defaulted on pandemic loans, and they basically went into hiding for months. After last year’s coronation, the Middletons only came out for one public event in the past year: Kate’s stupid Christmas carol thing in December. It was genuinely surprising and notable to see Carole and Michael Middleton at Royal Ascot, rubbing elbows with royals and society people and trying to act like their whole house of cards didn’t collapse.

Well, funny story. Carole and Michael went to Wimbledon on Thursday. Not only did they go to Wimbledon, they were seated in the Royal Box. This a big deal – even when the Middletons were in good standing and their house of cards was pre-collapse, they were rarely welcomed into the Royal Box. I remember one year, Carole begged Roger Federer’s wife Mirka for extra tickets in the players’ box area on Center Court. Speaking of, Roger was in town and I would guess that was the reason why the Middletons popped up. Carole has a thing for Roger and Roger sucks up to the British royals and royal-adjacents.

You know what we need to bring back as a society? Shame. How are the Middletons not ashamed to show their faces? How can they afford to keep up appearances at Wimbledon after screwing over so many people? Why were they even invited to sit in the Royal Box? Their appearance at Ascot sort of proved that whatever went down in the first six months of the year, the Middletons successfully negotiated whatever this is – a reentry into society, with the British media refusing to point out the Middletons’ grift and financial catastrophe.

  1. Lady Digby says:

The Midds are back, bigger and better than ever and all is forgiven because PoW needs Kate back at his side. They both are planning to reduce their workload so Kate’s poor health is that justification. Staus quo re established for all the Midds!

    • Digital Unicorn says:

I’m of the opinion that this is only temporary – at some point the tide will turn against them and we will get stories about how they used William etc.. They’ve played on Kate’s illness but when she’s been given the all clear by Drs am sure the gloves will come off again – Cams is waiting in the wings with her knives. She did not look pleased with the Wails at Trooping.

Carole should enjoy it while she can – when Peggy wants to roll out the divorce/separation she’ll be back to being blacklisted.

      • Nic919 says:

I agree with you. Kate and the Middletons won the battle, but they won’t win the war. William still couldn’t interact with Kate without showing his disdain of her and outside of a brief photo op with Carole at ascot, he stayed away from her.

    • Dilettante says:

They are back for the same reason that Huevo was persona non grata with his family from the beginning of the year. Their silence is required, this is the quid pro quo.

    • Megan says:

The royal box is controlled by Wimbledon, not the royals. The Midds invite may have been at the behest of the Federers.

      • Nic919 says:

Anyone who is persona non grata to the royals is not going to be asked by Wimbledon to attend. And George and Charlotte are younger than the age limit but yet they have attended without issue.

    • holly says:

“con artists and habitual liars” applies equally to the Royal Family leftovers

  2. Carol looks rode hard and put away wet. Those negotiations must have been something. She knows no shame.

    • AMTC says:

Knows no Shame sums it up @ Susan Collins

    • Anita says:

I’m not a fan, but to me Carole looks better than in the photos from the garden party.

      It’s all just weird.

      • Aurora says:

Her outfit is more streamlined and it doesn’t look as if she borrowed it straight from Kate’s closet last minute. But whatever went down during the last 6 months, it added a good 10 yrs to her face.

      • Kittenmom says:

Agree with Aurora – I think her face looks terrible. IDK if she’s had work done?

      • Nic919 says:

She didn’t look great during the coronation so whatever is going on isn’t directly linked to the last six months. Likely fillers that hadn’t settled yet.

      • Ginger says:

Carole definitely looks more haggard than usual.

    • Josephine says:

someone needs to start a “pay it back” chant whenever these grifters are seen in public. carol is definitely showing the stress from being a loathesome person, so there’s that.

    • NotSoSocialB says:

She looks like her aging has accelerated pretty dramatically in the last six months.

  3. MissF says:

Well, the odious Daily Mail readers have nothing pleasant to say about these two ghastly freeloaders, or Waity. General consensus was that poor Khate will be miraculously well by the men’s quarter finals, and she looks far too refreshed for an “ominous” diagnosis

    • Izzy says:

Really? Even the Fail readers are turning on them.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

My money is on Keen, looking even fresher, turning up for the men’s final’s and giving out the trophy, with her whole family in the royal box for support.

Am beginning to think that part of the recent ‘negotiations’ has been around how little Kate will do going forward – meaning she gets to pick and choose which events she will deign to turn up for. She was never going to miss Trooping and it might be the case that she sends her parents (or siblings) to events in her stead (read: Ascot). I have always thought that Carole wanted a ‘lady in waiting’ role and this could be part of that roll out.

      • Nic919 says:

The elaborate photoshoot and backgrounder provided to the press confirms that she was always going to attend Trooping. None of that was done last minute. Lainey made reference to the background info given to the press, which can’t be published, being similar to what BP provided for Charles months ago, which means either BP prepared it or KP was significantly guided by BP.

  4. Eurydice says:

I think by know we should know that shame isn’t in the royal vocabulary. Whatever royals want, royals get.

    • Proud Mary says:

I posted a similar comment earlier, but for some reason it was removed. It’s not that we don’t have shame, these folks were being shamed by the media before William used his influence to stop it, which to me is proof of what Harry said, about William and Charles having the power to do something about the tabloid abuse of his then pregnant wife, but choosing to do nothing; and even participating in the abuse, by “feeding [her] to the wolves.”

      • jemmy says:

@Proud Mary ” To me is proof of what Harry said, about William and Charles having the power to do something about the tabloid abuse of his then pregnant wife, but choosing to do nothing; and even participating in the abuse, by feeding [her] to the wolves.”

They did nothing because they wanted to get rid of Meghan and send her packing whilst at the same time use the negative to get good PR & hide William’s indiscretions.

    • ML says:

The Middletons are an interesting part of the RF in that they have somewhat low social status as well as an incomplete upgrade due to K and bankrupt-rich-person privilege.

In essence, it should be very easy to “put them in their place.” The fact that they were at Ascot and interacted with W and are now enjoying tennis from the royal box means that they enjoy royal protection.
Bankruptcy isn’t a moral failing for rich people—they did everything legally, which is infuriating. For normal citizens, this is truly abhorrent, but for rich people and upper social classes, it’s the price of doing business.

That said, there was a cooling off between W and the Middletons years ago. What happened to K and what was the Middleton’s role that these people are being trotted out in royal society?

      • Proud Mary says:

“Bankruptcy isn’t a moral failing for rich people.” I’m sorry, but I beg to differ. We are not talking about any run-of-the-mill richees, here. These are the parents of the future Queen. Aren’t they supposed to be on higher moral grounds than the plebs? Further more, need I remind you that both William and Kate are living of the public dole? Not only that, but the Midds creditors includes the British public — remember the unpaid covid loans?

      • Becks1 says:

@ProudMary I think @ML meant more that in the upper classes among the wealthy, bankruptcy isn’t viewed the same was as more “normal” people might see it. Like, we think its abhorrent that the Middletons just screwed over all these small businesses that thought doing business with Party Pieces was safe because their daughter is the future queen. But among the uber rich? They probably just viewed declaring bankruptcy as a smart business move.

If upper society is shunning them over this, its probably because its just a convenient excuse to shun someone they probably didn’t like all that much anyway.

But for the rest of us not in those upper echelons – its pretty appalling to see the complete re-emergence of the Middletons. I’m one of those who thinks that some sort of deal has been struck and the Midds appearances at Ascot and Wimbledon are part of that.

      • Nic919 says:

The Middletons will never be accepted regardless of what deal William made with them. The general tackiness, especially of Carole, is what turns them off. Some of it is just snobbery, but really is it a good look for the parents of a woman claimed to be massively ill from cancer to show up to a tennis match with so much joy and glee? It’s a bad look across the social spectrum.

      • ML says:

Proud Mary, Becks1 translated what I tried to say much better. Personally, the Middletons should have paid everyone they owed back, especially since they owed mostly small, vulnerable businesses money. They were shamed by somebody slathering posters to that effect around Bucklebury. Normal people would never have been allowed to stiff people without at least social consequences.

The Middletons, as Nic919 stated, are never going to be accepted.

The royals are the reason why the Midds are back. So, it’s gross that the Midds are parading themselves about AND it’s gross that the RF is making it possible.

      • Proud Mary says:

I’m sorry, Becks1, seems you agree with me. That woman wants to be admitted into British aristocracy. She was already being sidelined, and I think the bankruptcy put a further dent in her plans. She was being shamed by the tabloids and whoever was posting that stuff in her hood. Once again, we are not talking about the average rich people, we are talking about British aristocracy, helmed by the Windsors. William’s seal of approval at least has kept the tabloids at bay.

  5. Interested Gawker says:

MaMidds’ kompromat on William must be astonishing. For her to stay on mute all through last winter’s bad press and Kategate, save for the five wheeled car photo, must have been excruciating for her but she played this game with some Cam-like moves.

    “She knows no shame.”

    Quoted for truth!

  6. Amy Bee says:

How dare Carole and her husband go to Ascot and Wimbledon when Kate has cancer? Am I doing it right?

  7. Reign says:

I agree with what is well said without words here. As it unfolds and the knives are out for Sussexes who are minding their business it’s an easy progression to make. The ambulance in December mentioned and never mentioned again, the photoshopped photos the complete disappearance but the emergence of the Middletons in society.
What a fascinating time in 2024 to see the court working like 1924 or earlier.

  8. MY3CENTS says:

Just imagining the negotiations- so one show at Ascot, plus two royal box tickets for Wimbledon, throw in a pint and a bag of chips and you have a deal?

    • Libra says:

      Summed up nicely, my3cents

    • Flower says:

That is literally the Midds ever wanted – protection and relevance.

They will still be part of Society and they got what they wanted.

      William must be so fucked.

      • s808 says:

Whatever he did must be bad enough to ruin him if it ever became public. With C throwing his support behind K, he had no choice but to renegotiate, probably at a disadvantage.

      • Anna says:

Oh they have sth good on Wills.. but again, in their stupidity they haven’t considered slow roll out to look less obvious that negotiations were finalized – Kate suddenly shows up and then Midds are “warmly” welcomed back…

  9. PC says:

To use an X account saying: Liza Minnelli has outlived any shame the shameless Middletons should have for ripping off small businesses and the UK government, and the reward includes seats in the royal box at Wimbledon. SMH!

  10. Nic919 says:

The glee from Carole at being at a tennis match really shows how much she wants to be part of that world. Shameless is an understatement with that family.

  11. Laura says:

maybe this was their reward pkg for keeping solent this past year.
They had to be the very few to know everything.

Wonder if Will will pay off their debt too..

  12. Laura says:

maybe this was their reward pkg for keeping silent this past year.
They had to be the very few to know everything.

Wonder if Will will pay off their debt too..

  13. JJP says:

Carol looks slimmer and younger than the last time she was out. Couple that with the terrible job matching her dress to her jacket and my money is on it being Kate under all that makeup. Lol. J/k- but seriously- have they settled their debts yet?

    • kelleybelle says:

Funny, I thought she looks 10 years older, and haggard.

    • Cali says:

I actually liked the jacket with the dress and thought it looked quite stylish. It’s the warm toned accessories that I questioned especially the scuffed suede tobacco colored shoes.

      • BeanieBean says:

The jacket, the shoes, the purse–in combination they’re all just very weird with that dress. She accessorizes just like her daughter.

  14. Flower says:

Kate and the Midds have played a blinder as we Brits would say.

William must truly be up fuckety-tree avenue without a paddle for this Horse and Pony show to be going on.

Keep grifting Ma Midds (insert Leonardo Di Caprio champagne gif)

*Pours a little liquor out for the divorce that William will never get before his father passes*

  15. Emme says:

So, Royal Box = separate entrance to the grounds, specialist car park directly under said box, lift going straight up to deposit one in the Royal Box, drinks/fancy lunch/more drinks/ Royal Box chocolates, watch a game or two, then Afternoon Tea/drinks, meet and greet others in Royal Box before and after various refreshments, photographs, etc ALL FREE.

No wonder the Midds hustle so much to be included….

  16. RRN says:

Like others have mentioned here, I agree that some sort of deal has been made prior to trooping. I’m curious if W has paid off their debts tho.

I don’t think the press revealing the Middletons’ fraud meant that the tide was turning on K. She will always be protected because of who she’s married to. The fraud was revealed as an exchange to hide/ protect some other matter.

    • Libra says:

I think the deal made prior to Trooping was no divorce, William gets to do whatever William wants as long as the facade of a marriage is kept, Kate stays at Adelaide with shared custody of children and the Muddletons are back in the fold. Deal.

      • Tessa says:

        Diana wanted no divorce
Turns out that if Charles wanted one it would happen. Same with Kate and william

      • Pinniped and Poodle says:

Yeah the cards are in the hand of the egg

  17. Over it says:

The middleclimbers have no f-ing shame whatsoever

  18. Jaded says:

This gradual reentry into the upper echelons of royal events is completely transactional. The Midds will keep quiet about the William issue in return for access. William will stay married to Kate until she’s QC or they’ll spill. Don’t forget, the heir must be protected at all costs, no matter what he did, and Kate’s and Ma Midd’s eyes are strictly focused on the crown. I’m 100% positive he and Kate are separated and not living together, but I now think divorce is not on the cards, and anything that taints the curated image of a dutiful husband and father looking after his sick wife or reveals it as a sham will be avoided at all costs.

    • Nic919 says:

I think there will some friction and this is a temporary truce. First because Camilla is around and she can’t like Kate avoiding all work. The treatment can’t last forever and while things may be quiet over the summer, I suspect by September or october Camilla will be deploying something to comment on how lazy Kate is. Already the comments on DM about her and the Middletons are left open for massive criticism.

And secondly William will not tolerate her around for long. He will tire of this and we will start to see attacks on Kate. William is not Philip, who treated Elizabeth with respect in public at all times. He is like his father and he will freeze Kate out as much as possible. His own actions delayed his plans, but not forever.

    • Flower says:

I think the deal was laid down by Chuckles – i.e. no divorce on my watch and I am King and potentially dying.

Basically William gets to make a mess of his own Kingship and divorce Kate when Chuckles leaves this mortal plane. Charles knows what a sh!t show that will be, but William can clean up his own mess.

      • Lynwall says:

Whatever deal was made, one thing is clear, the BRF controls the media.
Everything they did to their creditors, etc ….not being mentioned.
I am sure that the media knows what is going on too.
But they are now protected, and the media is going along with it.
It becomes clearer every day that they had no intention of protecting Meghan. They deliberately left her at the mercy of the press. More likely they encouraged the press to go after her.

  19. Lili says:

Kate’s “Cancer” must be weighting heavily on them, they seem to have lost their Joy especially her dad. Does William have them over a barrel forcing them to attend these things or is it vice versa ?

    • ML says:

This: “ Does William have them over a barrel forcing them to attend these things or is it vice versa ?” is a good question.
A couple of days before the 5-wheeled car pic, there was a report in a Birmingham paper/ website saying that Carole had been in a nasty car accident and was on life support. Two days later, there was a pic in TMZ of Carole looking grim in that odd car with K. That rumor was a really nasty one, and I still have no idea why it was published. At the time it was picked up by the Daily Express, but has since disappeared from the internet. So either the RF or the Middletons wanted false info out there to catch a leak, some mafioso sent a message, or someone had an inappropriate article published.
I think the Middletons don’t look happy or relaxed, but that could be because of K, whatever W’s role was, facing the public, something unknown,… however, what you wrote, Lili, is a good point. They might be back willingly, or they might need to come back unwillingly to help W out.

  20. San Diego says:

I’ll keep repeating myself until kingdom come but there will never be a divorce between W&K. They are the future of the Monarchy. Whatever is happening or has happened behind the scenes, k always knew her position was secured hence her treatment of H&M in private and in public. She’s been there for 20 yrs and they trust her. She knows her role and position is to maintain the status quo. There is a reason she’s survived being in the system the past twenty years. She is all in on whatever they want and need from her. We on the outside need to understand that.

    • Nic919 says:

She’s not the one who is the issue. It has always been William. If Charles can cheat and divorce on Diana, one of the most popular royal brides ever, and still become king, then why a generation later would there be an issue with another divorced king?

      • San Diego says:

The difference between K and D is W dated K for 10yrs before marriage. It wasn’t arranged and they both wanted to get married. K has the support of her family and the institution and most importantly she wants to be there. She is actively choosing to be there that is the difference between K and D.

      • Tessa says:

Diana never got the memo it was arranged
She thought Charles proposed because he loved her. William settled for Kate after keeping her waiting for years

      • Pinniped and Poodle says:

Yes, that is the difference, Kate sat on that memo for 10 years

      • Nic919 says:

Again the issue isn’t that kate waited a decade. That only makes her less sympathetic because she didn’t walk in without knowing William would cheat. It is that William does not want to even pretend he can tolerate her any more. And knowing that she wasn’t a naive child bride like Diana was makes it even easier for William to end it when he wants to.

    • sevenblue says:

I agree with @Nic919. Kate will be there as long as Will wants her there. I would never believe Kate wants a divorce, but last few years, Will showed incredible disrespect to her especially in public. Whatever he did during Christmas gave something to use to Middletons. That is why they all appeared again in these circles, after Kate went outside to wave. I don’t doubt Kate’s illness, but something else must have happened at the same time. That is why KP handled it so badly, while BP was dealing with the same situation very professionally.

      • San Diego says:

K is there because she has the support of her family, the Windsors and the institution. They all backed her because they trust her. She is not going anywhere. William can disrespect all he wants she will be Queen consort during his reign.

      • sevenblue says:

@San Diego, it doesn’t matter if the firm supports her. If Will wants her gone, she is gone. He is gonna be the king. The firm is gonna choose Kate instead of Will? That is not how it works. Now, with cancer, I don’t think Will would dare to do that though. The single dad Will promo also stopped in british media after Christmas.

      • Tessa says:

The married ins are dispensable. Kate will never really have the upper hand

      • Tessa says:

San Diego despite the letters of support diana got from philip. The queen and philip would put Charles first and they rallied around Camilla. Charles would throw his support to William and the woman he might choose over Kate

    • ohwell says:

There was never a divorce in play. Since all this separation/divorce speculation started, I said that it would never happen. Kate and her family are DESPERATE to be part of the upper class.
I agree with San Diego, the institution supports Kate because she wants to maintain their status quo.

      • Nic919 says:

I think there is a generational thing going on here because people around in the 90s would never have believed that Charles and Diana would divorce and yet they did. The Queen did not want them to divorce hence the lengthy separation. But they did divorce because Charles did not want to stay married to Diana.

When we speak of the institution, it is not a group of people. It is the monarch. William will soon be the institution and he’s not going to stay married to someone he openly disdains in public.

The recent situation only delayed this.

At the very least these two have been separated for years, which explains the chaos since January. Without extensive coverup from the British media, this would have been exposed years ago. Instead they create Harry and Meghan stories, but that isn’t working much now either.

      • Tessa says:

Charles had outed Camilla as his mistress forcing Camilla and Andrew Parker Bowles to divorce. Later a divorce was announced for Charles and Diana

      • Unblinkered says:

@Nic919 that has to be pretty much how things stand. Whatever is actually wrong with KM has only delayed the separation becoming public.

I’ve always felt too that W has had chief custody of the children for some time, for reasons that can only be guessed. More obviously, something has been brokered for the Middletons to be back in the Royal Enclosure at Ascot and in the Royal Box at Wimbledon, and Sophie’s commiserating hand on W’s shoulder as they exited BP’s balcony after Trooping can only be explained by his having had to grin and bear appearing with KM that day.

So, all this in return for what from KM?

  21. QuiteContrary says:

Yeah, the fix is in. I agree with everyone here who remarked that whatever William has done, it must have been terrible.

  22. Anonymous says:

Well she looks like she probably is ~ hard and mean. Kate in years to come.

  23. Unblinkered says:

Wonder what Carol’s creditors thought of seeing her, in all her glory, first at Ascot and now Wimbledon?

  24. Mightymolly says:

Every time I see Rhaenys, I’m reminded she played Carole in the Crown. And every time I see Carole, I think of how Rhaenys needed more moisturizer in that role. (No disrespect to badass Rhaenys who is fully team Black despite being wronged by them many times.)

  25. Truthsyrup says:

Carole’s outfit is spot on. Wonder if her and Mike are still together? Rumor was they had separated.

  26. TN Democrat says:

Well. They may be back “in” with the royals, but will be tossed under the bus as soon as it suits the Windsors. Charles, Camilla AND Will-not will sell anyone out to benefit their own PR. Ma Middleton has aged 10 years in the last year. Something nautical has went on behind the scenes for her appearance to change so much in a year.

  27. Callum says:

They probably have the balls to think if their ever challenged they’ll just pull “our poor daughter has cancer” card to shut people down and then go back to their cavier
