Walden: The Sussexes need to make peace with the Windsors to ‘win back’ America

Piers Morgan’s wife Celia Walden has a new Telegraph column this week. Surprise, it’s about Prince Harry and Meghan. It’s a real shame that the Telegraph’s columnists can’t focus on their own left-behind Windsors and summon the courage to perhaps ask why no one in the royal family has condemned the white nationalist violence and rioting in England. Instead, Walden has decided to mock the Sussexes, bash America and offer Harry and Meghan a “five point plan” to win back their popularity in America. These pathetic people are so obsessed with America, you’d think they would bother to learn something, anything about American culture or how Americans actually view the left-behinds versus how we view the Sussexes. Walden’s piece is long and stupid but here are some lowlights:

Americans hated the Sussexes’ wildly successful projects: Then began the couple’s Tour of Discontent. Although the Oprah interview was received more favourably in the US than it was in the UK, stepping down as working royals ultimately chipped away at their popularity, as did the repeated attacks waged on the King and the Prince and Princess of Wales in both their Netflix whineumentary and Harry’s ill-advised 2023 memoir, Spare.

Americans also hated Harry’s ESPY Award: But perhaps the biggest mistake to date was the Prince’s acceptance of the ESPY Pat Tillman Award, last month. This triggered an angry backlash not just from the public, but the mother of the heroic late veteran the annual service award was set up to honour – and sparked a series of “why the US has fallen out of love with the Sussexes” op-eds.

Walden’s plan for the Sussexes: First: stop whining. Put away that violin. Embracing victim culture is effective and lucrative… to a point. But if 15 years in the US has taught me anything it’s that Americans are uniquely forward-facing, forward-thinking, snap-yourself-out-of-it people. When Spare was published, my LA neighbour’s reaction was: “Why would you choose to live in that space?” Nothing could have summed up US thinking better. Bad things happen, and you can visit “that space”, you can share what you learnt – but don’t, for pity’s sake, set up home there.

They must praise the monarchy: Say one or two things, publicly – even if through gritted teeth – in favour of the British monarchy. You can still loathe everything about the institution in private, and Meghan can still keep her voodoo dolls down in the cellar, but next time either of you do an interview, why not throw in an appreciative word about Princess Anne, the beauty of royal pomp or the importance of some of our royal rituals. They may have felt suffocating to you, but Americans would like to keep the myths and illusions they were raised on intact.

They must make peace with their horrible families: Make up with your father. Make up with William and Kate. Release a bedtime story about the triumph of familial love and dedicate it to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. As Olympic-level empaths, surely you can find a way to hug it all out (and have that healing moment caught on camera)? Family estrangements are a bit like divorces, you see: you can get away with one, maybe two, but at a certain point, it’s embarrassingly obvious where the problem lies.

[From The Telegraph]

This is something consistently hilarious to me: watching British royalists Britsplain American culture to a British audience. This column is not meant for me or meant for Americans. Walden clearly believes that Americans are big dumb babies who are obsessed with all things royal. She clearly believes that Americans believe that Harry and Meghan are terrible because they cut off their toxic family members. She is desperate to convince her domestic audience that Harry receiving the Pat Tillman Award – with Tillman’s brother and widow in the audience, supporting him – was some kind of bad moment for Harry’s image. Anyway, this is just an update – Piers and his wife are still on their bullsh-t.

Americans would have to know who Ms. Walden is before we care about what she says.

    • sunnyside up says:

The wife of the man who has spent most of his public life criticising Meghan after she failed to succumb to his chatting up, Walden ought to be thanking Meghan for cold shouldering her husband after she found out that he was married. Morgan has a history of being publicly nasty when women don’t succumb to his charmes.

      • SarahCS says:

I doubt it was just finding out he was married that led to the could shoulder!

      • kirk says:

The wife of the man who left the USA in ignominy in 2014 after CNN cut his show because he couldn’t keep an audience? Meghan is an American. Period. Vast majority of Americans will support another American over an imperious, repugnant, shrill foreigner.

      • Debbie says:

        Damn, you’re good @Kirk!

      • Agreatreckoning says:

@sunnysideup, there is zero evidence that Meghan ever met up with P*ss outside of the photocall/press event for Suits. It was his mental fantasy. Don’t remember who it was on twitter-they did a deep dive of the events then and pretty much demonstrated, P*ss lied about the whole thing. Please, don’t repeat the lies.

This is a guy who lied to the Levenson inquiry and wouldn’t take the stand.

    • Hypocrisy says:

      Thank you👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

    • Kelsey says:

      LMAOOOOOO

    • BlSS says:

these guys are as weird as H-E- double hockey sticks.

    • Hooboy says:

She is no one to me and her opinion will not influence me in any way and as an American I’d like to welcome Harry and Megan to the United States of America and I hope they have a lovely and loving life.

  2. Proud Mary says:

This is a woman who had to take a hiatus from her miserable marriage. These ugly, bitter British women, stuck in bad marriages won’t ever stop obsessing over the Sussexes. As someone once said to another British tabloid gorgon, “Harry will never eff-U, so get over it.”

  3. Inge says:

She’s probably just jealous that her husband is obsessed with Meghan.

    • sunnyside up says:

That was my thought, trying to chat her up before she met Harry, He complained about her ghosting him, probably when she found out that he was married.

      • Magdalena says:

Repeatedly saying “when she found out that he was married” suggests that she may have had an interest in him – which she never did. Meghan has always been a person of principle first and foremost and she had ample people around her who would have told her what he was like. Added to that if you look at Twitter you would see that he was like a creepy obsessive stalker, frequently tagging her on Twitter on nearly everything under the sun, seemingly eager to give people the impression that they were friends, when it was evident to all that he was simply a minor business acquaintance who was helping to promote the SHOW suits (not herself).

THAT is why she never met him “one on one” anywhere, despite his lies. He was part of a group of ITV people whom she met while promoting Suits. That’s it. And she was sensible enough to ensure that she was never photographed with the creep. So “met” him is probably overstating it. And I would not be astonished to discover that he crashed the promotion just to be able to say that he “finally met” her.

      • Agreatreckoning says:

Thank you @Magdelena. Anyone taking PM’s word about the situation is baffling to me. He’s known to do selfies with famous people. Yet, he has no evidence of his supposed meet up with Meghan whom he stalked on SM?

      • Lisa says:

I think he lied about that

    • Where'sMyTiara says:

The way I heard it, Celia is just as obsessed with Harry as Pee Emm is about Meghan.

The joke a few years ago was “these two ‘journalists’ (I use that term very loosely) are braying like donkeys because they think they’re married to the wrong people. Celia wants Harry, Piers wants Meghan, and they’re crying/screaming/throwing up b/c their obsessions find them vile and won’t give them the time of day.”

I mean Harry wants Piers in jail, and Piers knows he belongs in jail, that’s 90% of why Piers acts out. Narcissistic projection/injury. Celia is just a jealous cow with zero scruples.

  4. EasternViolet says:

Speaking of racists nationalists, using the racist dog whistle demanding Meghan put away her “voodoo dolls” is disgusting. And if Harry or Meghan dares speak publicly about Princess Anne or the pomp and beauty of royal ritual, the pearl clutchers would have a stroke. Nothing says “looking forward” more than not talking about your family publicly for nearly 2 years.

  5. GoodWitchGlenda says:

First of all, Harry was very deserving of the PT award. Period.

Second, in my experience, most Americans are positive-leaning-neutral about the Sussex’s. They’re just a regular celebrity couple that most people just don’t think about 99% of the time. They don’t need to “win us back.”

Third, we certainly don’t give a f*cking sh*t about them being nice to the BRF. If anything, to the extent that people feel anything about Meghan, they’re protective of her as an American that was treated so poorly abroad.

    • Elle says:

THIS. The majority of Americans do not care about the BRF other than a little bit of gossip. Like, I read about this, I obviously think it’s interesting, but I’m not personally invested any more than I am personally invested in Jennifer Garner’s workout routine (which sounds impossible).

And completely agree regarding Harry being deserving of the Pat Tillman award.

      • Becks1 says:

What, are you saying we aren’t obsessed with the myth and illusions of the monarchy???

Something British royalists don’t understand is that even for Americans who are more “into” the royals, its usually just about QEII and Diana. Most people don’t like Charles or are indifferent to him and even for people who may not like H&M…..its just a passing thing, kind of like how I don’t like the Kardashians but I don’t really think about them.

Americans are not sitting around writing think pieces on the Sussexes. They get attention when they do something (like this new Archewell project) and the rest of the time we let them be, like any other celebrity.

All that said considering how successful all of their projects are, I think americans generally support them. They’re not worried about “winning back” America.

      • Debbie says:

It’s funny though, how the British media (who never once acknowledged the Sussexes’ popularity and success in America) are always writing “think” pieces on how they can regain a never-lost popularity again. Odd.

  6. TN Democrat says:

The Windsors have to make peace with Harry/Meghan and acknowledge how they have benefitted from racial inequality to remain even slightly relevant as the UK burns because of racism, social injustice and the rise of extremists at least partially aligned with right wing supporters of the system that have allowed the royal/aristocratic system to flourish. There. Fixed it.

  7. sunnyside up says:

What really annoys me about the Pat Tillman award is the British press keep talking about his mother not wanting it and ignoring the fact that it was his widow that did want Harry to have it for Invictus, and why didn’t the mother want Harry to have it, because the Mail didn’t tell her the truth. Nothing new there.

  8. Nixie says:

“Meghan and her voodoo dolls” is nasty work. If the leftovers are suffering, you can thank Karma. This chick and her flop ass husband should be the last one giving career advice.

  9. Agnes says:

“Walden’s piece is long and stupid but here are some lowlights:” how that made me lolz, I think I’m still giddy from watching highlights of the Harris-Walz rally. I know being Royal is Harry’s “birthright” but I wouldn’t be surprised if at some future date he becomes an American citizen and voids all of this nonsense for good. The titles he (and his wife and children) carry are worse than useless, they are an invisible link to a hideously abusive institution and a bar to real freedom.

  10. 😂😂😂Win back America? Is this a joke? The Sussexes are doing just fine in America. It’s the lazy losers that think they are so beloved in America but I will break it to them AMERICA DOESNT GIVE TWO FU**S ABOUT THE LAZY LEFTOVERS. What a joke!!! 😂😂😂.

  11. equality says:

Someone sounds jealous that PH’s “ill-advised” memoir broke all sorts of records for sales while Brit royal “experts” have not broken any records. No Americans were raised on the “myth and illusion” of the monarchy. She quotes her neighbor like anyone cares and Tillman’s mom who sold out to the Brit tabloids as proof that H&M are so unpopular. TWO whole people. Wow.

    • blueberry says:

ha! Her neighbor speaks for 300,000,000-ish people.

    • Agreatreckoning says:

@equality, she quotes her ‘LA neighbour’ as if it might be an American. Not quite sure if the Moron/Walden home is in Bevery Hills or Hollywood Hills, both within Los Angeles county.

      Beetch is in her cups.

  12. Nanea says:

How can people still be so unhealthily obsessed with the Sussexes, nearly 5 years after they left, and so wrong at the same time?

Just because one — 1 — neighbor didn’t like Spare…, just because someone who isn’t involved with the Pat Tillman Foundation, even if she’s the mother, just because they’re too chicken to go after the Left-Behind royals, especially TOB and the Wiglet of Windsor, just because they can — in this case Ms Moron — do they need to show the world they are deranged, uninformed, racist, anti-social.

It’s not like England is burning, stoked by the racist, classist hatred cultivated by the Heil, the Scum, the Torygraph and fascists like Farage, 30p Lee, Tommy Robinson and 14 years of Tory misrule.

I would be so proud to show I couldn’t care less about actual problems, when Sussex-bashing, and lying about and defaming them still seems to be more lucrative than anything that happens in the UK.

  13. Rachel says:

“Americans would like to keep the myths and illusions they were raised on intact”… ah! So you admit the BRF is just smoke and mirrors with no redeeming value?? These people unironically insult themselves at every turn. Smdh.

    • equality says:

The only “myths and illusions” I remember being raised on are tales of Henry the VIII and how he mistreated women and tales of kicking the monarchy out of the US.

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

Rachel, I laughed as I read the excerpt Kaiser posted. That particular passage is very amusing. What? Do they really think we were raised on myths and illusions about the brf? What I knew about the Monarchy in school was related to the Revolutionary War. Oh yes, I remember a children’s song about Henry VIII. That’s it. Hello?

I found it interesting that Pat Tillman’s mom didn’t give another interview AFTER the awards ceremony. People who watched found out about the IG’s and it, IMO, was really successful for that reason.

The brf REALLY want H&M to share their shine with them. Why in the world would H&M mention any of the brf? If they did that, Americans would quickly tune out–we don’t care.

The article really is very funny.

      • GTWiecz says:

And I didn’t see his mother at the ceremony. So she’s been quiet because she’s ashamed at the backlash of her words or because she totally agrees?

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

GTWiecz, well, seeing that it was a bm that published her words, I’d have to say that she was embarrassed when she saw the IG video clip and Harry’s speech. I doubt she knew anything about IG and the bm didn’t tell her about it. I think she was duped.

  14. Feeshalori says:

Wow, 15 years in America, a veritable expert on us, by golly! Thank you SO much for explaining our own culture to us and how we should perceive celebrities and what we should think of a couple who are minding their own business and doing their own thing. So now why don’t you concentrate on your own country and try to explain to the Brits why your royal family is fiddling away while their country burns?

    • Eurydice says:

Lol, really. There are people who’ve lived their whole lives in the US and are still idiot racist assholes, so time in place doesn’t prove anything about what H&M should or shouldn’t do in America.

  15. Jais says:

Well, if walden’s one random neighbor in LA says something, it must be true😂. And actually in Spare, Harry said quite a lot of nice things about the monarchy. More than I would have anyways. And finally, in the Netflix doc, they barely mention Kate, so no, she was not repeatedly attacked. The Sussexes have never repeatedly attacked Kate. The BM swearing that kate is constantly being attacked is just a tactic to make her out to be an innocent victim. She is not a victim of their attacks bc there have been next to no attacks. Letting it be known that Kate got upset when she didn’t get an Easter gift is not an attack. An attack is letting the lie stand that another woman made you cry. When, in fact, it was the reverse.

  16. Maxine Branch says:

America certainly rejected her worthless husband. Fired from show and at best he would be allowed on the right leaning Faux News but no one cares to hear his rantings. He is where he belongs on YouTube hustling for clicks.

  17. Lau says:

Are we surprised that Piers Morgan’s wife is as terrible a person as he is ? No. Also pretty sure they co-authored that piece of garbage.
And finally, what country does Celia Walden think Meghan is from exactly ?!

  18. Amy Bee says:

The only thing I got from this piece is that Celia Walden is desperate for Harry and Meghan to return to the royal fold and that the rest of the family is boring.

    • Pebbles says:

      THIS.

I say the same thing every time these same opinion columnist weigh in with advice to Meghan living thousands of miles away paying them no attention. They want M&H to think they need to make up with the royals and visit or talk to them more so that they can get more leaks and stories about what they are doing. The media is getting more desperate because the Sussex’s have successfully cut them OUT of their plans and when they launch something or go visit somewhere they have no prior knowledge and they can’t form a narrative around it beforehand to spin it to the public in a negative way. I mean they’ll still try but it must suck to know that H&M will go for a more trusted/limited media for their work.

The same reason they keep screaming that she needs to talk to her dad or she’s a meany is the same reason they want them to make up with the RF. Both would leak whatever they know.

  19. Chantal1 says:

Hey BM, the only times Americans gave a d*mn about the monarchy was when we fighting 2 wars to get rid of them. Now we’re fighting a war to save our democracy from a wanna be king/tyrant so we truly don’t have time to care about the dysfunctional Rotten Family. The Sussexes are just another family with foreign relatives. No one makes a big deal out of Harry, the British king’s son. Americans accept and some even like him and Meghan bc
    1) they stood up for themselves and left a toxic institution
    2) they actually work and have great charities.
    3) like the majority of Americans, they have a mortgage and pay taxes
    4) they’re not constantly in our faces
    5) they don’t flaunt their wealth
    6) they’re not publicly funded and despite the horrible smear campaign and Charles cutting off their funding and security, they’re not on welfare (public assistance) and I know that is devastating to the BM and BRF.
But nice try I guess. She and her toxic husband need to go outside and touch grass. All of this vitriol isn’t healthy.

  20. Lady Digby says:

Notice even Celia isn’t deluded enough to suggest that Harry and Meghan publicly praise William or Kate for their whole hearted 500 royal engagements and two smash hit Royal Tours to Common wealth per year whilst both privately volunteer to do a weekly nightshift at the Samaritans alongside washing the feet of the poor!

  21. Mel says:

Let me fix this: The Windsors need the Sussexes to be the bigger people’ so they can stop looking like vindictive trash all the time.

    • Pebbles says:

yep. Plus they want them to mention something positive about the royals because they know the Sussex’s get attention and if the Sussex’s speak about the royals people might remember they exist or care about the monarchy.

They love to tell us Willy and Kitty are sooooo popular here due to some dinky poll but they know that’s a crock of sht.

  22. one of the marys says:

This many years out it’s bizarre to read an article like this. It’s as if the tabloids are living in another timeline entirely.

    • GTWiecz says:

They say what the palaces tell them. When the harassment against Megan from the press started in the UK, I naively thought it was just them. And naively thought the RF didn’t respond because if the BS of “never complain, never explain” (how convenient right?. But after a while, I knew the RF was complicit.

  23. Maxine Branch says:

What is interesting to me and those gutter rats know this. The Sussexes could make as big a splash as they choose in American but they are choosing a low key approach by focusing on their family and their philanthropic endeavors. All this popularity nonsense is all nonsense. They thought the Sussexes would show up at every opening and they have chosen not to. They even chose a home far away from the noise and this is killing those gutter rats. In their world view living a normal life away from the noise is being ostracized, when it is a choice this couple has made. The Sussexes appear to be long game folks not short game people. Those gutter rats do not understand their way of being and are trying to impose their vision on them

  24. L4Frimaire says:

They really try their hardest to drag the Sussexes into the news cycle even when it makes no sense. The Sussexes just launched a major initiative through Archewell that is impactful and has the support of a lot of other organizations. They can’t directly attack it unless they want to look completely psychotic so they’re trying to nip around the edges, with these jabs at the Sussexes. This doesn’t even make any sense, Harry and Meghan are just living their lives and doing the work they set out to do when they set up their foundation. This whole “win over America” angle these tabloids use shows both their anxiety about the Sussexes success and how clueless they are about their actual lives here in the US.

    • GTWiecz says:

Even worse than the gutter British press are some extremely hateful accounts on Twitter like Meghan’ Mole and Canelle (??) and others. I have blocked them all so can’t remember all their names. They’re extremely vile.

  25. TheOriginalMia says:

The only people obsessed with Harry & Meghan are the people who harassed and abused them off Salt Isle. Most Americans like them or don’t care about them. We do have a whole election going on right now. Even if we didn’t, Americans still would have a passing interest in them. Walden needs to worry more about her country and her marriage and less about the Sussexes.

  26. Lucy says:

I’m confused by the premise that Americans care about the British royal family. The BRF is weird and irrelevant and vaguely embarrassing, whereas Harry and Meghan seem like successful, glamorous people who do interesting work, and THAT, Celia, is what Americans care about.

    • Carmen says:

American here. The only royal I ever cared about, besides Harry and Meghan, was Diana. She made a great impression when she visited this country. I was indifferent to Elizabeth, and the rest of them range from mildly irritating to positively loathsome. Camilla and the Waleses fall into the latter category.

      • Agreatreckoning says:

Yeah. I wasn’t raised that the BRF held any importance. My paternal grandmother was 100% Irish and not in the favoring BRF way. At all. We did watch Diana & Charles’ wedding. It was pretty much the only thing on tv that morning. Summertime.

Dad walked out of the living room and said he had better things to do. Which is true.

  27. Kingston says:

    THIS. PART.:

“They must praise the monarchy: Say one or two things, publicly – even if through gritted teeth – in favour of the British monarchy. You can still loathe everything about the institution in private, and Meghan can still keep her voodoo dolls down in the cellar, but next time either of you do an interview, why not throw in an appreciative word about Princess Anne, the beauty of royal pomp or the importance of some of our royal rituals. They may have felt suffocating to you, but Americans would like to keep the myths and illusions they were raised on intact.”

^ This! This, in a nutshell, is the explanation for all the UK shitmedia antics, via direct threats, abuse, and reverse-psychology, all performed for the attention of an audience of 2: Harry and Meghan.

All the somersaults, all the baring of their arses, all the proffered begging bowls……..have one goal:……”PLEASE, HARRY & MEGHAN, PLEASE TAKE US OUT OF OUR MISERY AND SPILL SOME OF THAT UNENDING SHINE AND BEAUTY AND GOLDEN-TOUCH THAT YOU HAVE, ONTO THE DULL, BORING, WORTHLESS LEFTOVERS LIVING LIKE PARASITES ON BRITISH TAXPAYERS.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GIVE US JUST A BIT OF YOUR ATTENTION SO THAT THE WORLD (i:e America) WILL PUT THEIR ROSE-TINTED GLASSES BACK ON AND LOOK AT US ONCE AGAIN – EVEN IF ITS WITH CONTEMPTUOUS AMUSEMENT (WE WILL PRETEND OTHERWISE) AS WE PERFORM OUR CLOWNERY FOR THEM.

THATS ALL WE WANT, PLEASE HARRY AND MEGHAN, WE JUST WANT YOU TO GIVE AMERICA PERMISSION TO LOOK AT US ONCE AGAIN AS THEY DID WHEN YOU WERE OVER HERE BEING A PART OF THE TOMFOOLERY BEFORE YOUR EYES WERE OPENED AND YOU SAW THE EXTENT OF THE COSPLAYING OF OUR LONG DEAD ANCESTORS, AND DEPTH OF THE ROT OF WHAT LIES BEHIND THE CURTAIN, BUT IT’S ALL WE HAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    PLEEEEEEEEAAAAAAASSSSSSSEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!”

    LMFAO

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

Kingston, I comment above before I saw your post. I laughed through much of the excerpt. It’s clear that the brf wants the shine that H&M have.

I thought the Wails wanted to conquer America. Now, they’re expecting H&M to pave the way? Things must be much worse than we have been led to believe if this is what’s coming out.

I know that the bm and government have a very similar relationship as the bm and the brf, but I gotta tell you, making Americans look stupid is not the way to conquer the Country. I think the UK needs to look at just what is being taught in schools about the US and the Monarchy.

      • GTWiecz says:

Billy saying he never wants to see his brother again is not helping though. If my sibling said that, I’d be happy to oblige.

      • AC says:

The Wails actually more of W wants to conquer the US. It’s so obvious. they must be soo disappointed the USPTO denied their trademark here

  28. Tessa says:

Walden is just enabling her husband’s obsessing over harry and Meghan. There’s a meme on social media of piers stalking out of the studio after his colleague defended Meghan. Walden should be embarrassed.

  29. sunnyside up says:

Walden says they must praise the royal family even if it isn’t true, Sounds like a journalist, lie when it is convenient, the whole point of all the stuff in Spare is that it tells the truth, a liar wouldn’t say half of the things that are in that book about himself.

  30. Libra says:

These idiots will write anything, no matter how bizarre ( and the whole column is bizarre) just to poke the bear and get a response from Harry and/ or Meghan. That’s all this is.” What do I have to do to get you to notice me???”

  31. Izzy says:

Oh Celia, do fck off. I didn’t even know who you were until Kaiser mentioned that your husband is Piss Moron.

  32. Libra says:

Also in be Telegraph today is Lee Cohen, a Conservative think tank guy, who never has a decent word about Harry and Meghan, saying they should go to Colombia and stay there.

    • Eurydice says:

Well, H&M are already on the other side of the planet and planning on staying there, so the Telegraph should be happy.

    • Becks1 says:

Because if they’re in Colombia……they wouldn’t be able to run their businesses or use the internet or cell phones or anything else?

Its like when the BRF was trying to exile them to “africa” like Africa doesn’t have internet or cities etc. (or countries…)

These racist asses really just keep telling on themselves.

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

Libra, the Telegraph could then complain about them being in Columbia? I ask myself if the bm ever reads they’ve written and feel any embarrassment.

      • GTWiecz says:

The editors all the way to the top approve these articles. They’re all scared of the RF.

  33. Fiona Brander says:

Seventeen years in Illinois and I can count on one hand the times any American mentioned the royal family or at least brought them up unprompted.

Of course Celia lived somewhere different and her husband alternated between whatever his show was and being halfway stuck up Trump’s derrière so I think she’s just writing what she thinks her fellow racists want to hear.

    • Agreatreckoning says:

Your first sentence is so important. That is how it flows in my world. ‘unprompted’ is the best word. I’m guilty. We have customers from all over the world that chose to live in WI. Yep, I’m an a**hole. I’m careful how I word things with customers and who I casually ask questions to is a thing. I’ve done it twice. (brought up Larry the Cat to another ‘cat lady’ for the sake of fun things and Happy Caturday)

Common denominator: One couple were both Scots, the other couple, husband is Scottish, wife English. Neither couple gave two shites about the royal family and pretty much said there here because they didn’t want to be there.

And Celia Walden wants people to believe that Americans revere royalty when we had a revolution against them? Nutter.

  34. wolfmamma says:

So is the hate campaign hotter because the RF is on holiday… and the racists are setting parts of Britain on fire ( with no comments by the RF) …. Is that it?

I mean.. just when you think BM et al couldn’t come off any weirder.. they surpass themselves.

LOLOLOL. My first-generation Irish American father raised me with plenty of beliefs about the British royal family, but they weren’t myths or illusions — they were hardcore realities about the monarchy’s colonialist and violent history.

Eff off, Celia, and take that flying monkey of a husband with you.

  36. Mrs M says:

Given that Celia Walden chose to marry Piers Morgan, she is not really in any position to criticise H&M’s life choices.

  37. Tessa says:

Walden needs to tell her husband to stop whining. She is an enabler.

  38. AC says:

This person is Not even an American so she needs to STFU claiming to know what Americans want, like, dislike. Her opinions is as a Brit not as an American.
I do know some Americans who think Charles is a d$&ck for what he did to Di and that Camilla looks like a horse. And Americans I know either like HM
    Or are just plain neutral.

  39. tamsin says:

Is Morgan unemployed? He has lost all his jobs, right? Why do all these women, and men, in the BM have so much poison in their pens?

  40. Jackie says:

I was watching Time Bandits on Apple+, in ep6 there’s a cute bit where the main character is telling stories from history and includes a tale about a Prince (Harry) who follows his princess to her land and everyone listening is teared up about their love and wishes them a happy ending.

“Americans would like to keep the myths and illusions they were raised on intact.”
    — Indeed, they would! Except none of those involve the British monarchy, except the ones around our War of Independence (“monarchy is bad”.) 😁

  42. Carol says:

Talk about unsolicited – and highly biased and wholly inaccurate and self serving – advice! Harry and Meghan are FINE here in US, we have no problem with them, they certainly don’t need any PR or image overhaul here. They’re largely seen as nice, helpful and incidentally fun and glamorous. None of what she suggests is necessary for HnM, but ALL is meant to benefit the remaining royal family in UK. The British media constantly CREATE made up issues as if HnM are responsible, then publicly demand HnM fix them; this is just another example of the abuse they were subjected to. Hug it out??? When King Charles owns and apologizes for literally, physically endangering Harry’s family for pulling his security and kicking them out of their safe home in UK, maybe steps to reconciliation can start. But it’s not up to Harry to just ignore that and hug it out, you horrible woman. Besides the fact that Harry HAS made overtures like flying over when he learned Charles was ill, and was rebuffed! That’s the further gaslighting hete. Harry and Meghan could do every damned thing on this looney list, and it would change NOTHING. Either w UK media or the royal family. Pull the other one, fool me twice and other cliches, just no.
