Ariana Madix’s younger brother arrested at FL airport with 100 lbs of weed in carry ons

Jeremy Madix is the younger brother of Vanderpump Rules’s Ariana Madix. Ariana, as you may or may not know, was one-third of the big, dramatic “Scandoval” love triangle that unfolded last year when it was revealed that Tom Sandoval was cheating on Ariana with her friend Raquel Leviss. Jeremy has been featured on several seasons of the show, but had a falling out with his sister months ago due what Jeremy describes as Ariana’s “microaggressive gestures” towards his fiance.

Unfortunately, Jeremy has found himself in a bit of legal trouble. In February, he and a friend were detained for trying to bring more than 100lbs of marijuana out of the country. The pair were busted while trying to take a flight from the Orlando International Airport into the Frankfurt Airport in Germany. Jeremy was finally arrested on July 10. This whole thing is crazy.

Ariana Madix’s younger brother, Jeremy Madix, was busted for having suitcases filled with weed while attempting to fly out of Orlando International Airport, court records obtained by Page Six Saturday show. The reality star — who appeared on his sister’s hit show “Vanderpump Rules” — was allegedly carrying a large black, soft Tumi suitcase and a large black, hard Briggs and Riley suitcase when traveling from Orlando, Fla., to Frankfurt Airport in Germany on Feb. 16.

However, before boarding his flight, an agent searched Jeremy and his pal Jonah Ahad’s bags, as there was a “large amount of green leafy substance in vacuum sealed bags” in the luggage, per the docs. The agent reportedly recognized that the substance was weed due to his “training and experience” and then field testing showed it was indeed cannabis.

Police said they discovered that 64 bags belonged to Jeremy, weighing a total of about 76 pounds. Meanwhile, his friend allegedly had 31 bags in his possession, weighing about 37 pounds. Per the documents, Jeremy and his friend refused to speak to investigators without an attorney present. They were not arrested right away, according to TMZ, and a spokesperson at the Orlando Police Department did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment or an explanation.

However, Ahad was ultimately booked in May and Jeremy was finally taken into custody at his home in Oceanside, Calif., on July 10 and extradited back to Florida. A court document filed Wednesday showed that the bartender was still being held in jail at the time with no bond, and his lawyers were requesting for his release. It’s unclear if that has happened yet.

Page Six reached out to Jeremy and his attorneys for comment but did not immediately hear back.

The Bravo star has been charged with felony trafficking in marijuana, which according to Florida law, carries a potential sentence of up to 30 years in prison and a $200,000 fine. Jeremy’s lawyers provided in the court filing several letters from close family and friends advocating for their client’s “good character.” Jeremy and Ariana’s mother, Tanya Madix, for instance, praised her “wonderful loving son” in her note, adding that he is a “kind” person who always checks on her.

“Jeremy has developed a wide circle of very good friends and a network of supportive acquaintances,” she added. “He is both cherished and respected by his peers. I am very proud of my son’s achievements.”

Noticeably missing was a letter from Jeremy’s famous sister, who was invited to the White House last year after her cheating scandal with ex Tom Sandoval gained widespread media attention. Jeremy revealed on the “Pump Rules” podcast in March, though, that he and the “Love Island USA” host were no longer on speaking terms after he hugged Sandoval, 42, at a party. Page Six has reached out to Ariana’s reps for comment on her brother’s arrest but did not hear back.

Woooo, this story is wild. I mean, did Jeremy really think that he was going to get away with bringing that much weed on an airplane in general, let alone into a foreign country?! And it sounds like they were trying to take it as a carry-on? Did they really think that no one would notice “green leafy substances” after going through security? Are they the dumbest drug traffickers ever? (FYI, cannabis was legalized in Germany in a limited capacity for recreational use for anyone 18 and older, effective April 1, 2024. Jeremy and Jonah got busted in February, before it was legal. It’s illegal to bring on US flights, domestic and international, in quantities more than .3% THC by weight.) I don’t think I need to point out that POC have been arrested and thrown in jail with harsh sentences for much less than what Jeremy was caught with. I’m curious to see how this will all play out, especially since they were charged with a felony in Florida.

Wow! What idiots! I cannot conceive any possible way this was going to work, I’d be so curious to know what they thought was going to happen. TSA is no freaking joke. I had a package of beignet mix once on the way home from NOLA, and that was a huge disaster

Right?!?! I had cough drops that fell out of my zip lock bag once and I thought they were going to call SWAT these guys have to be the dumbest idiots of the year.

    • Noo says:

      Yeah this is literally insane!

The only good choice he made was luggage: “carrying a large black, soft Tumi suitcase and a large black, hard Briggs and Riley suitcase.”

IMO Tumi has gotten too expensive but those Briggs and Riley bags are the real deal and they last forever.

And as Rosie pointed out a glaring example of white privilege that he was knocking about for weeks not arrested, when he was caught with 76 lbs of weed trying to cross an international border to the EU!

      • manda says:

ooh thanks for the rec on B&R, I’ve been looking for a new carry on bag and they are having a sale right now and these look great!!!

And yes, the white privilege thing. It’s so embarrassing. It is shocking to me they weren’t arrested immediately

lol I tried bringing back 2 jars of cookie butter a few years ago and about got strip searched. Love that the agent was able to recognize that a “green leafy substance” was weed based on their extensive experience.

Visited the original Crabtree & Evelyn in NYC a long while ago, had purchased bath salts, among other things. Whoa! I had no idea that might be an issue! This guy is an idiot.

lol incredible. Just spectacular. Thanks for the laugh this morning!

  3. SarahCS says:

First the lady trying to fraudulently steal Graceland and now this, it’s the day of WHAT WERE YOU THINKING???? I can almost see how she thought she was being super clever and it was an elaborate scheme but this is just extreme idiocy.

I would have paid good money to be behind then in the TSA line.

Also, am I reading too much into the inverted commas around the agent’s “training and experience” that allowed them to identify the weed? My parents were hippies and possibly had the same “training and experience”.

    What a story.

    • BeanieBean says:

It’s Page Six. They have the same kind of editorial staff as the DM, etc., who are notorious for their misuse of quotation marks, capitalization, and so on.

    • Rosie says:

I almost made a joke about that “experience and training” comment lol

  4. AB says:

This one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard 😂 ONE HUNDRED POUNDS in carry-on bags?! They def came up with this plan while they were high af 💀

  5. Bumblebee says:

I think the hair gave him away. Just sayin’

  6. Elle says:

Have they…never been to an airport before? This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

  7. lucy2 says:

And here I am worrying if I should bring my cholesterol pills in their original bottles…

  8. Rnot says:

What? Why bother?!? It’s not legal to fly with it but you can buy legal weed in the US and you can buy legal weed in Germany. It’s incredibly bulky for a drug and it’s only worth about a grand per pound. Even Snoop or Willie Nelson wouldn’t consider that quantity for personal use.

  9. Grant says:

What a couple of boobs! Actually, that’s offensive to boobs everywhere (which are universally fantastic, and that’s coming from a gay man) … but, WEED SMELLS! Even if they’re vaccuum-sealed, I can’t imagine that this stuff wouldn’t stink to high-heaven, especially in carry-ons in tight spaces like, IDK, ON AN AIRPLANE??!?!?!?
