Kamala Harris’s campaign has raised $500 million in the past four weeks

Kamala Harris and Tim Walz did not attend the Democratic National Convention’s second night. They flew to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to hold a campaign rally at the Fiserv Forum, the same place where the Republican National Convention was held in July. The RNC was poorly attended and low-energy, meanwhile the Harris-Walz rally was jam-packed and enthusiastic. From that Milwaukee stage, VP Harris formally accepted her party’s nomination after the roll call.

This was excellent – there’s no rule which says that the nominee has to be at the convention the entire time. In fact, many nominees do this – campaign while the convention is ongoing. Harris is projecting energy, enthusiasm, joy. Speaking of, the DNC is getting better ratings than the RNC. According to Variety, 20 million people tuned into the DNC’s Night 1. The RNC’s viewership in its first three days peaked at 18.1 million, although Trump’s weird, dystopian speech on the fourth night got a viewership of 25.4 million. Let’s hope that people tune in on Thursday for VP Harris’s speech. I also hope people tune in tonight for Bill Clinton’s speech.

Even more good news: The Harris-Walz campaign has raised $500 million since Harris became the nominee in July. Throughout the month of July, the campaign had raised $310 million. In the same month, the Trump campaign only raised $138.7 million.

She teared up and so did I. What a month it has been! 🥳

  2. Wow that’s a lot of money. I bet the orange one is having a meltdown about that but I’m sure he will come up with the lie that he has gotten more much more money for his campaign, really anyone who has ever campaigned, than her. I can hear him saying this.

Hope they buy out the airwaves with ads and completely drown the messaging of the other guy out!

Apparently he isn’t running many ads atm (can’t verify this because I don’t watch traditional TV only streaming) because he’s running low on money. And he owes millions to venues for his rallies.

      • tealily says:

        Ain’t it grand?

He was never going to pay them anyway. I’m sure this is why his “press conferences” or “rallies” or whatever they are have shifted to smaller venues (along with his lack of an audience).

This is an unbelievable sum of money, but it shows people are ready to fight for Madam President.

What gives me hope too are the millions of volunteers who have signed up.

Just make sure to fight voter suppression too, before the election.

Canadian here – what is all this money for and where does it go? That’s an obscene amount of money for ‘politicking’ when so many have so little

    • bisynaptic says:

It is an obscene amount of money. However, so much is on the line, at the same time.

    • Ferdinand says:

Mexican here, I don’t know how things work in Canada, but at least in Mexico, the federal government gives money to each party to campaign. Which is ridiculous considering it comes from taxpayers and we have an absurd number of political parties. It’s a huge family business in some cases.

What I like about US politics is that money por campaigning, tv ads, and all that jazz comes from donors and people who care and are passionate about the cause. Instead of spending public funds, politicians use donations to run their campaigns and pay for all expenses associated with it.

  6. JudyB says:

It’s only about $1.50 per U.S. citizen. I got my SS check deposited today, so I am going to donate something later tonight.

I just hope that we supporters can continue our donations–big or small, mostly to drive Trump nuts.

They are spending a lot of money on TV ads, but because I have satellite TV and only watch PBS locals, and a lot of ads run locally, I don’t get to see many, but others do.
