James Middleton hopes to open a dog-rescue center, which sounds like a good idea

James Middleton continues to promote his book, Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life. I haven’t seen anything about the book sales, although it’s only been out for a week. The promotion and book excerpts haven’t been bad for the Windsors, and it basically sounds like James is doing some side-PR for the firm anyway. After years and years of failed businesses and atrociously bad management, James might have chanced upon his latest venture: he’s going to start a dog rescue?

We know James Middleton loves dogs, but this is barking! The Princess of Wales’s brother celebrated publication day of his new title, Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life, at a bookshop with fans invited to bring their own pets.

Dozens turned up at the event, at Waterstones, in London’s Tottenham Court Road, where James, 37, revealed that he plans to open a centre for abandoned animals.

‘I’d love to have a rescue centre in the future,’ the businessman tells me. ‘It’s a dream that I hope to make a reality. I want to give back to dogs, as much as they’ve given me.’

James, whose book was serialised in the Daily Mail, adds: ‘There are also dogs that can work in the police force, mountain rescue, medical detection – I’d love to explore that area.’

Devastated by Ella’s death almost two years ago, he adds: ‘I want to keep Ella’s legacy going.’

[From The Daily Mail]

Honestly, he should have been doing this the whole time – starting a dog rescue center would be a perfect use of his time and effort. Much better than marshmallows or cakes or whatever else. Currently, he’s running a dog food business, but I doubt business is very good. Just do a dog rescue center.

Here’s James’s Today Show interview, which aired last week. The big headline was that he answered a question about Kate’s health. The fact that he invited an American TV show to his home in Bucklebury and it’s not even a “thing” with the British papers… well, that’s telling. It’s telling me that whatever deal was worked out between the Middletons and the Windsors, James’s book promotion was built in.

Seems like a good fit for him.
    His dogs are beautiful!

  2. I’m really sick of hearing about him but you’re right a dog rescue seems right up his alley. I’m sure it costs money to start up and then you have to get funds from somewhere to keep it running. He isn’t very good at keeping businesses going so maybe that’s why he hasn’t done it yet because he can’t find anyone to fund it.

Some centers have fund raising endeavors (like an auction) and reach out to the community. Prospective pets are brought to pet stores so people can adopt. And fostering animals is encouraged strongly.

We all know how well the Royal Foundation does with the funds it raises, so I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing that everything that James — who is an expert at failing — is involved with will be completely ethical and above board.

    • Tessa says:

Please open it up to cats also. Lots of homeless cats.

The funding is the issue, who’s going to pay for it? As we’ve seen from his business endeavours, running things is not his forte and I doubt he has enough clout to be the fundraising face of it and afford to have competent people doing the rest.

      • Becks1 says:

It takes so much funding to run any kind of rescue, but especially if you have a physical center. I can’t see him doing well with it, although its a nice idea.

Why is this man getting so much press lately? Ugh.

    • Tessa says:

Probably because of Carole and some negotiations with William.

      • kelleybelle says:

There is absolutely no need for his name to be in any news. Same for Camilla’s dishonest son, Tom. Carole herself is insufferable.

  4. Tessa says:

Yes please. Much better than the saccharine “what is Kate really like” stories.

  5. chatter says:

Why not support a rescue already in place?
Would that not be a better financial move?

  6. Miranda says:

It would be nice to see one of the Middletons actually, you know, giving back to society and doing something productive, rather than just scamming people and marrying into money. But he doesn’t need to start his OWN rescue! Every single one needs all the help they can get!

  7. Digital Unicorn says:

I would go as far as to suggest that the centre takes in abandoned dogs and trains them to be therapy dogs – there was a TikTok account I saw a while ago where an owner of a couple of rescue dogs was training them to be therapy dogs for people with cognitive disabilities. The way those dogs and their ‘patients’ were with each other warmed my cold dead heart. It was healing for both dog and their patients.

There are not enough therapy dogs or cats TBH

  8. Flamingo says:

How much will go to the actual charity and how much will go to travel, spas and parties…..

  9. Lau says:

He’ll probably find a way to scam people with his dog-rescue center.

    • MoonTheLoon says:

This. He’s a breeder himself and contributes to the homeless dog problem. He does have a kid now and that’s expensive to support.

  10. Jais says:

So yeah, I’m gonna support mayhew. I’ve been funding cats with them for a while. I get postcards. But at the end of the day, the more rescue centers for animals the better. So yeah he should do it. It just better not become some weird money funneling thing. He seems to love dogs enough though that hopefully it wouldn’t become some sort of a slush. Cuz I don’t trust the Windsors or the Middletons. But this guys does love his dogs.

  11. MoonTheLoon says:

Have we forgotten he breeds dogs and, thus, contributes to the homeless dog problem? This’ll probably be another of his failed business grifts.
