DWTS guest judge Gene Simmons creepily commented on the dancers’ attractiveness

DWTS has been controversial this season for stunt casting scam artist Anna Delvey. Thankfully she was one of the first contestants voted off, and she showed her whole ass in how she responded to that. In DWTS’s episode this week they had on guest judge Gene Simmons, 75, of Kiss as part of their hair metal tribute. Simmons made some disgusting comments about the dancers attractiveness, particularly the women, and should have been shut down by the producers. He went on at length at how aroused he was. Apparently it could not be edited out as it was a live show. So many people called Simmons out on social media. The dancers, contestants and pros, were visibly uncomfortable.

Gene Simmons showed up as a guest judge on Dancing With the Stars this week, and his “feedback” did…not go over well with viewers—one of whom dubbed him a “gross uncle who corners you at a reunion.”

Instead of offering solid critique of everyone’s dance routines (which was literally his only job), the KISS singer decided to spend his time commenting on people’s looks. At one point he mused, “This is a brand-new experience for me and it’s difficult to look at you and to figure out which one is more hot, hot, hot.”

Gene then randomly announced that pro dancer Witney Carson is “one of the more beautiful women on the planet” and said of actor/singer Chandler Kinney, “You’ve fogged up my glasses. I don’t know what to tell you. You move me, not just with your gyrations and so on, but your beautiful face and how you were into the emotion of it.”

I once had a literal uncle (he was divorced from my mom’s sister, but still) comment at his son’s wedding about how attractive I was. It wasn’t a passing comment, it was similar to Simmons’ energy here. I told him that it wasn’t appropriate and to stop and of course he did not. So many boomer man have grabbed me and/or said disgusting things like this. I’m glad it’s being called out, although DWTS should have vetted their guests better. This is not OK and I’m glad that this creep is getting press for it. Hopefully Simmons will not be invited to do TV gigs after this.

Simmons has called the responses to his despicable comments “clickbait” and says he stands “by every word he said.” Of course he does. He also underscored the Black and Asian contestants. DWTS should issue a statement apologizing for casting him!

I don’t know why anyone would be shocked or surprised by this; it’s who Gene Simmons is and has been forever. I think the producers or people in charge brought in Gene for the same reason they brought in Anna Delvey/Sorokin, clicks and ratings (though is Gene Simmons really a draw anymore?).

Also, anyone else think, for a moment, the guitarist on the car during Stephen Nedoroscik’s number was Sebastian Bach from Skid Row? Lol!

  2. He has always been a disgusting piece of shit they knew that when the hired him as a judge and were never going to reprimand the crap they know he is.

  3. Amy Bee says:

Disgusting. The producers knew what they were doing when they invited him on the show. Plus most live shows run a delay so they could bleep out offensive language so saying they couldn’t edit out his comments because it was live is a cop out.

Who on earth thought he’d say something NOT sexual?

I’ve seen clips of this show over the years and guest judges often focus on aspects of the performance that are not about dance, which is to be expected as they are often not dancers themselves. But Simmons acted as if he was judging some low rent casino beauty pageant. He’s standing by his comments as I believe he should lest anyone mistake him for a sensible and sensitive human being.

Sick f–k. Years ago, a friend of mine had an encounter with him when he came into the restaurant where she worked. She was about 22 at the time and very pretty, and after working there since high school, unfortunately used to being hit on, so it took a lot to really creep her out. When she told me later that she’d met him, I was like, “oh shit, was he as bad as I think?” She said, “no. Worse.” She literally had to dodge a couple of attempted gropes. Everybody knows he’s like this.

KISS did a show here years ago and I am so glad they did not stay at my hotel. I was friends of the GM of the one where they did stay and Gene doesn’t use toilet paper apparently. He used face clothes and then chucked them in a bin, used, for housekeeping to pick up. She said it was truly the most disgusting thing she had ever seen in her life. That says a lot coming from a hotel GM, trust me.

So tired of these vile old men continually getting a pass for their abhorrent conduct. He’s been repeatedly accused of sexual harassment and assault and even sued, but everyone just winks about it and keeps paying him.

Why does DWTS do stunts like this? They have a unique concept. Could be easily considered a family show. There are oodles of z-list celebrities, reality stars and athletes to choose from. Instead they pick criminals and nasty uncles. That might get 30 seconds of press, but it also gets one million seconds of the off button.

    • Aerie says:

They do stunts like this because this is disposable entertainment. Gene Simmons will be forgotten before the next episode airs and because DWTS doesn’t show reruns, this whole thing will never be revisited. As for being a family show, it’s geared towards many of today’s modern families.

Gene Simmons is a creep, and his band has always sucked. Always had to dress up like creepy clowns to get attention.

Am old. Can testify that Gene Simmons has always been disgusting to females.
Generally proud of it, in fact.
    Decades of awful, egotistical behavior.
The stories of his treatment of females, groupies especially, are many.
And do not try white washing this piece of garbage with “It was the 70’s, 80’s, Rock stars gonna Rock Star, drugs, etc.”

Gene Simmons could go toe to toe with Motley Crew in the wars of bad behavior.
Ask those of us in our 60’s. We remember.
The list of vile interactions of so many bands with females is very, very long.
