Kayla Nicole dated Travis Kelce for five years, and they broke up around December 2022. There was no overlap between Travis’s relationship with Kayla and his relationship with Taylor. Travis wasn’t hung up on Kayla, nor was Kayla hung up on him. They moved on, and months later, Travis made a play for Taylor Swift and they’ve been together ever since. What’s the problem? Taylor’s fans can be crazy and ridiculous. Taylor’s fans have spent much of the past year harassing and insulting Kayla because Kayla has the audacity to… be Travis’s ex-girlfriend. Kayla addressed the issue last year, and she’s made some other references to the situation this year. She once again spoke about it on Angel Reese’s podcast:
Kayla Nicole is opening up about the “online chaos” she’s faced since her ex, Travis Kelce, began dating Taylor Swift. Speaking on the latest episode of Angel Reese’s Unapologetically Angel podcast, released Thursday, Oct. 10, the sports commentator, 32, addressed the negativity she has faced on social media ever since the pop superstar, 34, started dating Kelce.
“I would be lying if I said that that level of hate and just, like, online chaos didn’t impact me, it does. Even to this day,” Nicole said. “You can go to my most recent post and it will be people debating each other why I am worthless and I’ll never be a talented person and I have no career.”
Reese then asked Nicole why she thinks she has been subjected to so much negativity after handling the end of their five-year, on-off relationship with “grace.”
“I don’t know,” Nicole responded. “I think that there’s something about that level of fame that attracts crazy people, and it’s unfortunate because I’ve never done anything to warrant that kind of backlash.”
The sports analyst went on to share that she and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, have bumped into each other since their breakup and revealed how she addresses her ex. “I’ll hit him with a head nod,” she said. “That’s about it. We’ve seen each other in public spaces but I think that we’re both aware of the nature of his new situation that there’s just no room to communicate or acknowledge each other publicly without it being spun into something crazy. So we just keep it moving.”
Nicole also opened up about her friendship with the Kansas City Chiefs WAGs (wives and girlfriends) and revealed that her relationship with them has changed since she and Kelce split.
“We’re cool. We are not as cool as we were … before,” she said, adding that the player’s other halves were “like family” to her. “That’s hard,” noted Reese, to which Nicole replied, “Yeah.”
I saw some people – Swifties, possibly – saying that Kayla shouldn’t talk about Travis anymore, that it’s rude at this point. I think it would be tacky if she was offering details about their old relationship or gossiping about him as a person, but she’s not doing that. She’s talking about her ex’s new relationship is affecting her life right now, to this very day, because her ex is dating something with a rabid, unhinged fanbase. A fanbase that attacks Kayla online whenever she says or does anything.
That wasn’t the only headline from Kayla’s interview though – she also did a not-so-subtle blind item about dating an athlete who dumped her for someone more famous “at the time.” She didn’t name anybody, but people did some digging. As it turns out, she dated basketball player Iman Shumpert, who dumped her for Teyana Taylor. Teyana was so mad about Kayla’s story that she clapped back online.
Teyana Taylor just went thee f-ck off on Kayla Nicole:
It's really crazy that everyone is allowed to bother me & be distasteful… EVERYBODY gets to play.. while I move with grace. ALWAYS! But now I wanna have a lil sagittarius fun too and it's a problem?
F-ck the iman part,… pic.twitter.com/ObfRCPZra0

Teyana Taylor goes TF off on Kayla Nicole in the Shaderoom comment section 😳😳👀👀

It sucks that what’s she experiencing is based in racism and she has to – not say that- as the torrent of additional racism would be worse.
Maybe it’s b/c im over 50- but I don’t get it. Let a lady live – she gets to talk about her life.
Even if she’s shady – I don’t know who Texans Taylor is- everyone gets to talk about their own experience.
Except maybe scooter (*not referring to the awesome muppet)
IKR about being over 50. Drama seems so exhausting and pointless.
I think a section of Taylor’s fans are insane and not even really fans, and it’s unfortunate how they’ve bullied Kayla.
I also think Kayla is messier than she wants to admit to. yes it’s her life and she can say what she wants, but that will get a reaction from people as well. 🤷
This is my whole entire take as well.
How is she messier than she admits to? This feels like you’re excusing racism and bullying. What exactly has she done or said to deserve any of this?
I don’t think she deserves any of this. These “swifties” are insane and give the fan group a bad name.
Re: messy, I’m talking about the issue with the other athlete and Teyana.
Is her only claim to fame being Kelce’s ex? I’ve never heard of her. If she didn’t talk about it, would anyone notice or care? Maybe it’s how she gets attention?
This comment is passive aggressive and racist. She is a sports commentator. She is fitness model. And you are dismissing her because she spoke up about abuse she continues to experience? Smh
You could say the same about Kelce’s mom, dad, brother, teammates. I wouldn’t even know he existed if it wasn’t for Taylor.
You know she is getting bullied online by the swifties, right? Why would anyone want that kind of attention?
I find your comment ” hilarious” because this is a direct quote from the interview. “I would be lying if I said that that level of hate and just, like, online chaos doesn’t impact me,” she revealed. “It does, even to this day. You can go to my most recent post and it will be people debating each other why I am worthless and I’ll never be a talented person and I have no career.”
Every celebrity has a subset of fans that are WAY too invested in that celebrity’s life and supposedly defending them, but these peoples default is always racism. They are coming after Angel Reese now for even interviewing her, saying how she’s not as good as Caitlyn Clark ( surprise, surprise).
She even got a reddit snark page. They are never gonna leave her alone. Swifties are insulting her, commenting on her SM that she is worthless because Travis didn’t wanna marry her and he is gonna marry Taylor. It is really disgusting. There is a racist section of swifty fanbase, they are all obsessed with putting Kayla in her place, so they can uplift Taylor. I don’t think they are ever gonna stop.
Taylor has 20 snark pages, most influencers do too. Is it kind? No. Is it evidence of rabid swiftie hate? Also no.
Taylor could also speak out against the racism perpetrated by her fans. Serena Gomez has done, so why is Taylor not bothered by her fans harrassing this woman?
Also are the Taylor Sub-reddits started by Kayla Nicole fans?
This is one of those times when both things can be true. It’s insane that swifties harass this woman. It’s also messy AF to bring up the ex wife of your former boyfriend.
I agree, Kayla should not be experiencing any racist abuse or harassment from the swifties or anyone else – full stop. I do think Kayla can be messy, Angel was definitely trying to get her to spill some tea. I would have taken that Teyana story to the grave before admitting it publicly. Kayla can absolutely speak on her experience and should call out racist behavior aimed at her – I just don’t thing Angel is adept enough at interviewing to navigate that conversation.
Last fall when her “dear black girl” message came out I checked out her instagram and it was 95% supportive of her, while dragging and body shaming Taylor. I don’t know why she hasn’t filtered out Taylor and Travis names out her comment section. While there are definitely cruel/rude comments towards her (no different than most comment sections these days), her supporters are the ones bringing up Taylor and Travis the most.
I think two things can be true she has absolutely been targeted and she moves in ways that are messy which brings unwanted scrutiny on her.
Swifties please turn all that energy toward getting the right people elected or solving climate change.
That would work if they were actually Swifties. Every fandom now has a group of people with poor mental health who spend their time hate-obsessing over exes, current partners, even the celeb themselves–and it’s clear that they don’t actually like the celeb they’ve centered their lives around. The racism to Kayla adds an additional horrifying element, but I’m in another fandom and they made up a SA story about the actor’s current GF. And they’ve tried to say she is not his GF but his sober coach FFS. And they still make weird comments on his exGF’s IG 6 years later. So it’s more a fandom thing than a Swiftie thing, and some white people are especially awful when they are racist as well as hate-obsessed.
Teyana’s actual point was that based off Kayla’s timeline, she was Iman’s side piece while Teyana was pregnant. And Kayla then told the story, didn’t name names but she didn’t have to, and made a snarky comment “used to be famous”. That’s what her issue was. Her point being, you made a whole video pointing out that black women are indeed beautiful and deserving and need to lift each other up. Meanwhile, this is how you treated a woman in your community.
Swifties aside, that’s the issue no one seems to get.
I mean doesn’t Taylor Swift’s songwriting reflect her relationships, emotions and experiences? How are her fans telling another woman that she can’t talk about her own relationship experiences? Are they saying that only Taylor is allowed to do this? This seems incredibly hypocritical.
And telling another woman that she is worthless because a man didn’t marry her? Wouldn’t that make Taylor worthless because of all the men she has dated have not married her? Or despite men not marrying her, Taylor maintains her worth as a human because of her career, but other women with less illustrious careers have no worth if they date men but don’t marry them? It seems that would make most women worthless including fans making such comments.
“I mean doesn’t Taylor Swift’s songwriting reflect her relationships, emotions and experiences? How are her fans telling another woman that she can’t talk about her own relationship experiences? Are they saying that only Taylor is allowed to do this? This seems incredibly hypocritical.”
It’s VERY hypocritical.
Those folks lack awareness (and self-awareness) in how they using double standards. To them, it’s ok that Taylor writes about plus makes money off talking about her exes and old relationships for *reasons* but everyone else must shut up when it comes to talking about their own romantic history in any way.
Am I the only finds the Kayla and Teyana Taylor story way more interesting? Just went down that rabbit hole, oh my.
