Earlier this year, Andrew Garfield went public with his new girlfriend, “luxury witch” Kate Tomas. Andrew is famously private about his love life, so when pictures came out of the two of them getting touchy feely while running errands, people started talking. Over the summer, Dr. Kate, whose famous clients include Lena Dunham and Megan Mullally, shared some of the terrible things that people said about her when they first started dating and cleared the air that no, she did not use magic to “seduce” Andrew.
Things went pretty quiet after that. Until now! We have an update straight from Dr. Kate herself, and sadly, it appears that Andrew and his lady witch are no longer together. Over the weekend, Dr. Kate replied to a comment on one of her Instagram posts that she and Andrew actually “broke up months ago.”
Andrew Garfield and Kate Tomas have broken up. On Saturday, Oct. 12, Tomas revealed in the comments of an Oct. 11 Instagram post that she and the We Live in Time actor, 41, split “months ago.”
A fan had asked Tomas if she was “still dating Andrew Garfield” and told her to “tell him I’m a fan of him, please.” Tomas replied, “We broke up months ago but I’m sure he will be happy to know that he is loved 🥰❤️.”
The Oscar nominee was first linked to the self-described philosopher and spiritual reader back in March, when they were seen holding hands on what appeared to be a double date with Phoebe Bridgers and Bo Burnham.
Garfield is intensely private about his romantic relationships. In 2021, he told Bustle that he actively chooses to keep his love life private.
“I’m not in the public eye to a great degree because I’ve designed it that way for myself,” he said at the time. “For my work, I’m fine with it, but otherwise I fight for my right for a private, personal life. My right to be ordinary. My right to be a mess. My right to be sorrowful. My right to lose, to get it wrong, to be stupid, to be a person.”
In a new interview with Esquire published on Oct. 2, Garfield once again made it clear that he has no interest in sharing details of his personal life and romantic relationships with the public.
“I have never, and I won’t ever, speak about or confirm or deny anything about my personal life with anyone, ever,” he told the outlet.
The tone of the comment, plus the emojis make it sound like it ended amicably. I hope it did! The comment has since been deleted, and I wonder if it was of Kate’s own volition or if she got a phone call from Andrew, asking her to take it down. Well, the black cat’s out of the bag now. The last time Andrew and Dr. Kate were seen together publicly was in July, at Wimbledon, so “months ago” sounds like they broke up some time in August, right?
Either way, Andrew Garfield is likely single again! And this news came out at the perfect time because on Friday, Amelia Dimoldenberg announced that Andrew is going to be her guest on the October 18 episode of Chicken Shop Date! They broke up 10 years ago, I’m sure he’s had plenty of loves that no one knows about. He may have had more significant relationships privately but because his relationship with Emma was highly publicised because of their movie franchise, people assume she was ‘the one’.

I really do think that dating apps are largely useless for meaningful relationships. I think at this point they are only good for hook ups and maybe a dinner and coffee here and there. I’ve never used Raya, but I doubt that it’s any better than, Bumble, Hinge, Tinder et al.
Dating is really difficult after a certain age but that a tale as old as time.
