Eminem will be the opening act for Barack Obama at a Kamala Harris rally tonight

Michigan is one of the most important swing states of the presidential election. Joe Biden won Michigan in 2020 by a little over 150,000 votes, and Kamala Harris is trying to rack up an even bigger win this year. She’s staged some huge rallies and campaign events in and around Detroit, and one of her biggest surrogates is Michigan’s Governor Gretchen “Big Gretch” Whitmer. I’ve wondered for months if Detroit’s favorite son would get involved in the election or show up at one of Kamala Harris’s rallies. Eminem waited until now. He’s going to speak at a Harris rally featuring Barack Obama as the headliner.

Eminem is used to being the headlining act, but he’ll be the opener at Kamala Harris’ campaign rally tonight in Detroit … where he’s set to introduce none other than former President Barack Obama.

CNN is reporting Eminem will be joining the campaign trail at an absolutely crucial time for the Harris campaign … with Election Day just two weeks away.

For those expecting Eminem to break out into song, don’t get your hopes up. Em is reportedly planning to welcome Obama to his city and share some thoughts on the presidential race.

Polls currently have Michigan neck-and-neck between Harris and Trump … so, it’s a big win for Team Harris to have one of the most influential voices in the state encouraging Michiganders to vote for Kamala. Of course, Eminem was notably raised in the Motor City.

Eminem has been a longtime supporter of Kamala Harris. On the heels of the 2020 election, the rapper endorsed the Biden-Harris ticket in a black-and-white campaign ad with Em’s famous “Lose Yourself” playing in the background.

Obama, a known lover of music, is also a big fan of Eminem … saying “Lose Yourself” was one of his main hype songs from his 2008 presidential campaign.

We have seen a ton of celebrities come out in support of Harris, but Eminem’s star power gives the Harris campaign a unique boost in a state it desperately needs to win the election.

If you’ve followed Eminem for any length of time, you know that he’s politically astute and he tends to dip into Democratic campaigns in the final weeks. Usually, Eminem doesn’t want to do rallies – he’ll authorize his music to be used in Dem campaigns, or he’ll donate to fundraisers or give interviews, but this feels pretty new – standing beside Obama and making the case for Kamala Harris. Eminem despises Donald Trump and the MAGA cult and he’ll do anything to ensure Trump’s loss.

This is wonderful news, and terribly decent of him. Well done. I’m only 1 hour 40 minutes drive over the border to the rally, but I’m sure it will be a madhouse, to say the least!

  2. Miranda says:

This is great! Now let’s sit back and wait for Trump to call up Kid Rock while the MAGAts pretend he’s just as good. Better, even! The Brittany Mahomes to Eminem’s Taylor Swift!

I know this is not exactly the topic here, but it never ceases to amaze me how this guy turned out. Considering his circumstances as a kid and young adult, he raised his daughter with a junkie to be a college graduate psychologist who adores her dad. He raised two other girls from Kim’s junkie family. He beat rx pill addiction, while he became a global music legend. Now he is about to become a grandfather and campaigns beside pres Obama.

Yes, and won an Oscar. One of the reasons he didn’t attend the Oscars for his nomination was that it was a ‘school night.’ Taking his kids’ schooling seriously was a big priority.

This is a great get for Harris, Eminem can be reclusive.

    • Couch Potato says:

Right! It’s heart warming to read about him. He’s like a poster boy for the american dream, but unlike the facebook founder and the likes of him, Eminem cares about more than himself and his fortune.

    • Alice says:

Yup. Love him for it. He’s of my generation, thrilled to see him again standing up for the right side!

  4. Oh this is great. I’m happy he is doing this. I’m happy he is getting out there and doing this for Kamala. Yes he hates trump and his mags minions.

  5. Nanea says:

I really didn’t expect Eminem to come out and actually campaign. IIRC he doesn’t really do public speaking.

So good of him to do this.

    Eminem!
Yes, Marshall is a terrific success story. His personal life and his kids are real victories!
MM is a real life rags to riches, kick drugs winner.
    I’m 63+ and I admire MM. That is a role model. 👍
I’m surprised he is stepping in and performing. Good for him.
I will say, his music is not my style but I like him so, so much.
The crowd will go crazy for this, I bet.

So grateful Eminem is doing this! It’s a big gift to our country.

I’m 77 and I’ve adored him ever since My Name Is.

A 60 minutes segment years ago showed Eminem’s yellow legal pads, with pages and pages and pages of rhymes and wordplay. He’s a genius.

      • Eden75 says:

It amazes me how many of the older crowd love him. My mom, who is a major metal-head, and is almost 70, likes Eminem. He is the only rapper she will listen to on purpose and does not shut off when a song comes on. She says the same thing, “Kid pulled himself out of nothing and look at him now!”.

Going to have to tell Mom what he’s doing now. She’ll be over the moon.

  7. Blithe says:

I just became a fan. It’s wonderful to see people like Eminem use their powers for Good.

  8. yipyip says:

Eminem (MM) comes from a broken, drug fueled, poverty stricken childhood to international fame, to leading a rally with a former POTUS, to support the next POTUS = dammit, if that isn’t the American dream come to life! I just LOVE this so much.

Em is known for staying private but this is a major, major win for KH.
He is rightly beloved in his home state, (everywhere) His support for her is a bigger Get than Bruce, IMO.

I had a friend who I considered one of my best friends, he ADORED Eminem, voted for PBO twice, a democrat through and through. But our friendship ended when his Trump support surfaced. On election night, his gloating Facebook posts were unbearable, so I called him out and unfriended him. He talked shit behind my back and whined about my reaction to mutual friends. I would love to find out how he feels about one of his hero’s backing Madam Harris.
