Prince William’s homeless documentary will stream on Disney+, take that, Harry!

Prince William: We Can End Homelessness is a two-part documentary set to air on ITV this week. But don’t you know, William didn’t make this navel-gazing documentary simply for British peasants. Of course not. Kensington Palace worked out a deal so that the doc will stream on Disney+. As you can imagine, the British media is leaning into a “rivalry” narrative, because Prince Harry has a contract with Netflix:

Prince William’s documentary about homelessness is to air on Disney+ ahead of his brother’s polo series on rival network Netflix. The Prince of Wales, 42, took part in the two-part ITV series to highlight his work in seeking to end homelessness.

The documentary, Prince William: We Can End Homelessness, will be broadcast in the UK on Wednesday and Thursday and will be available to international audiences on Disney+ from Friday Nov 1.

Meanwhile, the Duke of Sussex’s latest offering for Netflix, which is due for release in December, promises “an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look” at the sport of kings. Polo, a five-part series co-produced by Prince Harry and Meghan’s Archewell Productions, is the latest documentary to be released as part of the couple’s multimillion-pound deal with the streaming giant. While the Duke is not expected to feature heavily on screen, he was filmed playing the game in Florida in April in support of his charity, Sentebale.

Polo will be the fourth Netflix production released by the couple so far following Harry & Meghan, their six-part documentary series, Live to Lead, a series of pre-recorded interviews they introduced, and Heart of Invictus about the Duke’s Invictus Games.

More recently, Prince Harry appeared in an ITV documentary called Tabloids on Trial about his high-profile legal crusade against the media. Prince William has appeared less inclined to take part in television shows in recent years.

[From The Telegraph]

I forgot that Tabloids on Trial was on ITV. Prince Harry spoke on camera in that documentary, and it was specifically for a British audience. I don’t believe Tabloids on Trial aired anywhere in the US, on streaming or TV. As for the brothers’ “streaming wars”… um, Disney+ and Netflix don’t release much information about their streaming numbers, but I’m guessing that most people will not give a sh-t about William’s yammering about homelessness. I doubt that ITV will get high viewership for it either. People have memory-holed this, but William’s 2020 environmental documentary (Prince William: A World For Us All) bombed too. Princess Kate’s piano recital Christmas shows also get low viewership. The only way they can drive up interest in anything they do is by mentioning the Sussexes.

Imagine that–he’s going to be king of the 6th largest economy in the world, with castles, jewels, and wealth beyond reason, and the only thing that seems to matter to him is a 1-sided competition with his brother. He needs a divorce from the British media that’s supposed to be flattering him. They are so inept that they make him look like the racist, petty little shit he is.

    • jemmy says:

@lanne,that and as well as the Commonwealth but all of that doesn’t seem be enough for him.

At this rate , he would be moving to the US and take up residence in The Sussex’es house would but I suspect that even that would not be enough for him
It seems he wants to physically obliterate them and take over what ever goodwill, sucesss they enjoy not understanding that that’s not the way things work

      He is completely unhinged

    • Harla says:

And still, no one would watch 🤣🤣

    • Megan says:

I actually laughed out loud at this headline. Can someone please get William a cider from American Riviera Orchard because he is dying of thirst.

      • Where'sMyTiara says:

lmaoooooo y’all are pulling no punches today, and I absolutely love you for it.

I’m looking forward to all the articles where royal experts tie themselves into pretzels as they try to attack Harry for “being remunerated” by Netflix. Because it begs the question: who at Big Rodent Corp is paying Huevo for this travesty of a documentary? And aren’t royals not supposed to work for pay? That’s what they have spent the last five years excoriating H&M for.

I predict that much like the final bullying report from the palaces, no one is going to see the numbers this Huevo-centric vanity project actually does.

      • BeanieBean says:

@Where’sMyTiara: you bring up a good point. There’s going to be remuneration for this. Who gets the dough?

  3. Maxine Branch says:

    No one takes William seriously.

  4. 809Matriarch says:

Unreal. The article talked more about Harry’s Netflix show. People really don’t care about Huevo or his vanity projects. Who’s impressed it’s on Disney+?

  5. As I have commented before there is a one sided rivalry and it is in Pegs very large mostly empty (except for all his Harry hate) balding egg shaped head.

  6. Nanea says:

Torygraph and the rest of the British gutter press *and* THR should know that that ITV and Disney+ have an agreement on streaming distributions.

So it’s not like there was a kind of bidding war, it’s just the normal way of things.

As I highly doubt the Russian bots and the Derangers will watch this, the viewing numbers will be low.

    • HeatherC says:

Aren’t the derangers supposedly still boycotting Disney because of the elephant documentary Meghan narrated years ago?

      • Nanea says:

You may have a point. But as the Derangers threaten to boycott so many things, I opted out of keeping up with them long ago…

  7. Dee(2) says:

I’m guessing it’ll do just as well as Mike Tindall’s book. Presuming that didn’t break any selling records since there haven’t been any more articles about it, or at least none reflected here. And I wish the British media would acknowledge that it’s only a rivalry if both sides are invested. I’m not in a rivalry with Idris Elba’s wife lol.

    • Lady Esther says:

“I’m not in a rivalry with Idris Elba’s wife” HAHAHA! thank you, I needed that laugh

    • Proud Mary says:

Thanks, I needed that laugh. But you are on to something. I think that this is why so many middle-aged white women hate Meghan. They really believe they are in a rivalry with her over Harry.

  8. Becks1 says:

This article made Harry’s docuseries sound a lot more interesting than William’s, lol.

A lot of these streaming and broadcast companies have agreements, so it likely wasn’t any kind of bidding war. His last one about the environment was on Discovery+ I think and I only found it when I was looking for back episodes of Diners Drive-ins and Dives (and no I did not watch it lol.)

My guess is Disney will show this as one of the marquee shows for this weekend at the top of the screen when you log on and then it will disappear quietly with the rest of their documentaries.

  9. Amy Bee says:

Yeah it would seem not even the royal rota watched William’s Earthshot documentaries. There’s no competition, at least on Harry’s side because unlike William, he’s a producer.

  10. cazzie says:

Tomorrow, 30th October, is the first Budget of the new UK Labour Government and THAT is going to dominate the news for at least 24 hours, plus when Pensioners are being denied certain allowances and taxes are due to be going up, including Fuel Duty, Employers Contributions, Inheritance Tax, Capital Gains Tax etc, I’m pretty sure a billionaire with at least 5 homes, and who is set to inherit many more, wont be at the forefront of the discussion on ANY of the news programmes nor in many ordinary working households. Then the next day, 31st, is Halloween and it’s the half-term break, so so many families will be out trick or treating, so you can pretty much guarantee Part 2 wont really be much of a conversation opener in the average home either. Add to that the Earthsh*t Prize being held the very next day after the USA Elections, and you have to think that someone in, or all of his inner circle is trolling him. His PR machine really HAS ground to a halt.

    • SarahCS says:

Wow, ITV really have buried this haven’t they?

    • Where'sMyTiara says:

His bid to be popular in the US is and has been DOA pretty much since the beginning.
He won’t even be a blip on the radar here. I literally would not have known about this “media blitz” if I hadn’t tuned in here. Certainly no one’s pimping his vanity projects on Twitter.

  11. Hypocrisy says:

. A documentary on homelessness by a man who has inherited everything he owns including land, homes and castles along with a 23+M£ income will never be on my viewing list.. this man has yet to build 💩 for anyone or even fund housing but here’s a documentary for you. So glad I don’t have Disney+.. seriously who makes the documentary before they’ve accomplished anything🤦🏼‍♀️🙄

    • booboocita says:

Huevo has no intention of actually accomplishing anything at all, so he may as well make the documentary first. It’s not going to make a difference to anything or anyone, other than celebrating his ugly, empty head and heart.

  12. Fastgran50 says:

Is it streaming on Disney because his project is a fairy tale.😂

  13. Maja says:

If he has any real and honest success with homelessness and does more for it himself than being pictured selling a homeless newspaper, that’s only a good thing. If this man finally has an honest success, he might feel better and be able to leave his brother and his family in peace. I urgently wish him a real success. Not just a fictitious one.

  14. wolfmamma says:

I might join Netflix for a minute just to see Harry’s polo documentary.
As for Heuvo – I know more about homelessness than he does !

  15. yipyip says:

I know William needs to look like he is doing some work.
But we are all aware of homelessness. Very aware, thanks.
No one needs William to tell us about this issue.

If William wants to look busy and make a movie, then he should DONATE SOME OF HIS MILLIONS to the cause first, and end the movie with a list of charities others can also donate too.

He makes me so tired! How can he be SUCH a huge fool?
Proud of his stupidity, isn’t he?

  16. Laura D says:

Slightly off topic but, are there any Squaddies here who have the Tic Toc video shown on Twitter from the guy who showed all the projects William has started that have come to nothing? I thought I’d saved it but, I just can’t find it. I wanted to put it on Disney’s feed when their post for this nonsensical documentary first showed up on my feed. I also got into a little feud with someone (not nasty) who thought I shouldn’t have used the word “All” which was great because I apologised and then reminded her about William’s lifelong project for the Middle East! 😆

  17. AC says:

My goodness this guy is so desperate for US mega attention.

  18. Tessa says:

Take what. William comes across as snobbish and patronizing

    • Unblinkered says:

This time I do believe he’ll be called out for hypocrisy – at any one time, he lives between three or four multi-million pound mansions and has an income of £23m a year. Unacceptable.

Start by halving the rents on all DoC properties; donate half the PoW income to the homeless; turn over at least one of the PoW mansions for wholesale use for the homeless. Forthwith.

  19. 809Matriarch says:

Five paragraphs. 1&a half about Huevo. The bulk of this is about Harry.😁
