Is Prince Harry genuinely at risk at being deported by a second Trump administration?

For years, Donald Trump has made nasty comments about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. This was back in his first term, but it kicked up a notch when Harry and Meghan fled to California just as pandemic lockdowns began in 2020. That’s something that kills me too – Harry clearly applied for a visa to stay in America in 2020, when Trump was president. The Trump administration clearly approved his visa. That hasn’t stopped the Heritage Foundation – aka the authors of Project 2025 – from waging a nearly two-year legal battle to get their hands on Harry’s visa files. This fall, a federal judge shut down Heritage’s latest attempt, but they’re still trying to scam their way into getting Harry’s files. Now that Trump is coming back into office, you think he’s going to target Harry? Trump is surrounded by British wingnuts like Nigel Farage, wingnuts who absolutely have a “deport Harry back to the UK” agenda.

A royal risk. Long before Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election, he was vocal about Prince Harry’s move to the US. Trump, 78, has gone on record saying he’d consider deporting Harry, 40, because of drama over the Duke of Sussex’s US visa.

Harry is currently in a legal battle involving his immigration status. He admitted he took illegal drugs (cocaine, cannabis and psychedelic mushrooms) in his memoir “Spare,” which would be grounds for his visa application to be rejected.

The father of two and his wife, Meghan Markle, have been living in California since they quit their royal duties in the UK in 2020. Meghan, 43, is a US citizen, while Harry has been fighting to become one.

The Heritage Foundation conservative think tank has sought Harry’s visa records, arguing that the second son of King Charles III and the late Princess Diana could not have legally entered the US due to his drug use. In “Spare,” Harry wrote that cocaine “didn’t do anything for me,” but “marijuana is different, that actually really did help me.”

A judge has since ruled that Harry’s visa application is to remain private — making Trump’s mission to deport the duke a harder feat. Trump first threatened to throw Harry out of the country in February while speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Oxon Hill, Md.

“I wouldn’t protect him. He betrayed the Queen. That’s unforgivable. He would be on his own,” the 45th president said.

[From The NY Post]

Harry actually hasn’t been “fighting” to become an American citizen. He was asked about that point-blank this year, if he ever considered naturalizing, and he said he had considered it but he made it sound like he wasn’t in the process of naturalizing. In any case, the Sussexes’ purchase of a home in Portugal sounds like one of the wisest investments ever right about now. All they would have to do to get an EU Golden Visa is invest about $500K-600K in Portugal. They could move Archewell over there too, or create a second base for their business/charity.

For performative evil I wouldn’t be surprised if Dump works to get Harry deported. Maybe they do have that house in Portugal and they’ll go there.

    • Anonymous says:

Who the hell would want to live in a country filled with corruption, greed, hypocrisy and just plain meanness. This is what was voted on in the US, this is why a lot of the rest of the world despises the USA.

  2. s808 says:

I think mass deportation of illegal (and eventually legal let’s be real) immigrants and getting project 2025 off the ground is a much higher priority than Prince Harry but in any case if they did buy a home in Portugal it was indeed a wise decision.

    • Chris says:

I think all those Latino men who voted for Trump are going to be in a for a shock when they learn that ICE won’t bother to ask about whether they are legally in the country until AFTER they’ve been detained in the roundup. They’ll just grab anyone with Brown skin and sort it out later. What they fail to understand is that while it is very true that Latinos are not a monolith – a Mexican is not a Puerto Rican or a Dominican, that’s not how the MAGA crowd views them. So why thy can tell themselves that all that immigration talk was only focused on “illegals”, trust that from the MAGA point of view, they’re indifferent as to whether they are here legally or not. They’ll still want them gone

    • Carol says:

      Exactly. And precisely.
And added to that is slithering Stephen Miller is already saying they are looking into de-naturalizing LEGAL immigrants, and purging them (only the brown and black ones, I’m sure). So, it’s beyond they don’t care, they want to actively pursue legal immigrants.

So them claiming they were only concerned about “illegals” has already been proven bullsh!t. Not a surprise, but they’re already playing their hand sorta is.

Immigrants who felt they were the “right” kind and safe, are about to face a brutal wake up.

  3. Becks1 says:

Something I think we have to remember is how ineffective Trump is as a person. I saw a headline in the Atlantic I think about how much damage he could do if he stayed focused and driven and I mean…….the last thing that man is, is focused and driven. especially now.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m still terrified and we are in for a really rough ride here. He’s going to surround himself with people who ARE focused and driven (maybe??) and there are going to be lots of EOs and bills passed and such that are terrible for this country.

But someone who is his savior and hero one day (like Elon Musk) can be his enemy the next day. We joke about Scaramucci but that kind of epitomizes how fast Trump goes through allies.

all that to say…..I can see someone asking Trump about this and him being like “Harry who?”

There are going to be mass deportations and I am much more concerned about those than Harry.

    • somebody says:

That’s what I thought about him giving Kennedy a position also. I wondered how long he would last or if it would even ever happen. He doesn’t need these people now because he has what he wants so he could turn on them all. I’m sure he’ll start with lower economic classes when it comes to deportation.

      • Becks1 says:

Yes! I’m not that worried about RFK because I think he’s going to last 3 months tops. Trump wants him because he’s a Kennedy (which is funny since Trump is so anti-liberals, lol) but that appeal will wear off once Trump realizes he’s not getting invited to Hyannis Port anytime soon.

(do the kennedys still have a compound there?)

      • somebody says:

Apparently the compound is ongoing. In 2020 RFK gave tours of the place for $10 to those willing to help his antivax campaign.

    • Turtledove says:

      Yes Becks, exactly.

I think the one of the scary things about him is that he IS all over the place, so we can’t always be sure which crazy idea he has will be the one he actually sees through to fruition, but certainly a lot of what he says won’t happen because he will just forget about it. (And obv the people around him that will use him like a puppet to get their terrible agendas handled are also a huge factor)

I wouldn’t want to see Harry deported over a dumb vendetta, but I am much more worried about the millions of people that don’t have the money/connections Harry does.

      • Barb Mill says:

He has said a lot of things and who knows what will really happen. The one thing we will do is a tax cut for the billionaires who got him back into the white house. He has a bigger grudge about the people who prosecuted him and I can see him going after him. He wants to kill the ACA because he has to destroy everything that Obama did. His grudge is more with Meghan than Harry.

    • Eurydice says:

Bingo! And the thing is that Harry’s a “high value” immigrant (which sounds bad, but is reality) – he has money and connections, something all those people living in shelters don’t have.

    • Where'sMyTiara says:

He couldn’t pull in the competent 8yrs ago. He has shed a LOT of people in that orbit since he caught Covid. He was scraping the barrel in 2016 and it’ll be even more apparent now, because Trump is a gibbering, sundowning mess. Covid has accelerated his (family predisposition) for alzheimers. Trump is also a narcissist who likes to be associated with “the best” – he tried to court Diana; he’ll still think Harry in the US is a feather in his cap. I don’t think Trump gives two diaperfuls about Nigel Farage, tbh.

The real issue with the coming regime: Under Biden we had “smart fascism” (recall: Mussolini coined the term, and equated it with corporatism). Under Trump it’ll be “stupid fascism”. The real problem is the corporations: they’re the money stream to these politicians on both sides of the aisle. That money stream needs to be broken by the public in order for anyone to see a true economic recovery, and recovery of our personal freedoms. Americans need to pull a France and get in the streets, refuse to work until the oligarchy’s stocks shatter and burn. Mutual aid so that people get fed and needs met, just like after a flood or hurricane. The military-industrial complex Eisenhower warned about in the 1950s is now a global conglomerate. It’s contributing to the climate emergency, causing pain and mayhem globally and will only get worse if we don’t band together against it.

    • HeatherC says:

Trump is ineffectual and is experiencing an obvious cognitive decline. But let’s not forget Vance. He’s ambitious. He’ll take advantage of any leverage he can to propel himself into the Oval Office.

Considering he wrote the forward to Project 2025 (I think it was scrapped due to the campaign though?) he is the scariest thing to come out of this election.

      • Where'sMyTiara says:

Vance may have ambition, but he’s even stupider than DeSantis, and much like DeSantis, no one likes him. Not even in his own party. The rallies where they featured him had to have trucked-in, Craigslist-paid crowds and they were -thin-.

Vance is less popular even than Mike Pence and most of Pence’s own party hates him.

The bigger threat has always been the money. Who has the money to prop up these stupid puppets, where are they getting that money from, and how do we stop the flow. Follow the money. Start with the Koch’s.

      • Catherinski says:

Yes. DJT is stupid and sundowning but the people who have been planning for this for 4 years are highly capable and think strategically. And have learned how to flatter him. Vance is awful but he is highly intelligent and ambitious.
There will be no “guardrails” this time. The Supreme Court has turned presidents into kings now and no quality people will be in his administration, such as those who threatened to quit en masse when he tried to replace the attorney general, etc.
Something as petty and stupid as deporting Harry would boost his ego/need to appear powerful. In fact, his flatterers might encourage him to focus on stupid vanity projects to keep him distracted while they work on their own agenda.

    • Nic919 says:

Kara Swisher who reports on tech and knows a lot of these guys, including Musk, predicts that there will be a battle of the egos with those two pretty quickly and that this association won’t last.

I can see the same with RFK.

I think a lot of people memory holed the chaos of the first term and so many people leaving the administration. There will be more of the same.

    • Hypocrisy says:

It’s the fact that Trump is going to be a figure head and extremely easy to manipulate and the Heritage foundation will be running this President entire time in office. Expect the worse, because it’s going to be so much worse than any of us in the USA have ever dealt with.

      • QuiteContrary says:

This is what I expect. Trump’s a chaotic moron, but he will cede control to Putin and to domestic advisers who are much smarter and more disciplined than he is.

All he wants is to not go to jail.

    • pottymouth pup says:

For the most part, Vance will be running the show. The worst, most heinous, parts of the agenda will be enacted as soon as they can put it in place. Disorganization and incompetence by the administration won’t be a problem for them, those things just make it worse on the people they’re hurting.

Musk and Vance have already told the base that Trump’s policies will crash the economy and they will be paying more for everything for the foreseeable future (but they should want to do that because the payoff of their perfect society will be the end result). Despite this, they will continue to blame economic issues on the democrats and immigrants which will keep the base frothy for the duration of the bloody deportation of “illegal immigrants” and the denaturalization of “undesirable” immigrants (I hope that bites the Latino men who voted for Trump in the ass).

Meanwhile, Trump will give Putin all he needs to annex Ukraine and get started on Poland, and will give Netanyahu everything he needs to raze Gaza and violently expel Palestinians from the West Bank and Israel. This latter part is important. I predict Trump will then help MAGA Jews immigrate to Israel en masse (it’s really a deportation but those yahoos will see it as a gift). Once that’s done, the stage is set to blame all economic and other issues on the one boogey man demographic the white Christian world has always blamed for societal issues.

      • Ciotog says:

Exactly. The magical thinking will be: “if we deport *this* group of people next, things will get better!”

      • JudyB says:

I think Hitler used that technique–“If you’ll give me Poland, I’ll be happy and won’t want anything else.” And then, “Well, I really need France now, and if I get that, I’ll be happy.” Etc. Etc. Etc.

And, Hitler got rid of undesirables such as people with birth defects. Then, he got rid of some Jews and then finally all Jews.

  4. Hannah says:

For whatever ridiculous reason T*ump seems to *like* chumming it up with the RF. well, at least he did with Liz. IDK if he feels that way about KFC

For now, I think (cuz who tf knows with this guy) he will ignore Harry as a *favour* to KFC

BUT… that could be my bias talking, because I love the beautiful, sunny, warm life, home, friends and lifestyle The Sussexes have built for themselves in Montecito and it would make me livid and desperately sad if The Sussexes ever felt they were no longer welcome in the USA bcos of that man

    • Mayp says:

@hannah, “For now, I think… he will ignore Harry as a *favour* to KFC”

I have no doubt that Charles would love to have Harry greatly inconvenienced and uprooted from his idyllic life in Montecito. And I have no doubt that Trump would (and could) only be too happy to oblige him.

      • Tessa says:

If the royals enable this I think the purpose is for them to separate harry from Meghan something they tried since William tried to dissuade harry from marrying her.

      • Hannah says:

@ Tessa I’m going to attempt to paraphrase something Harry’s great grannie said during WW II

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet won’t go without the Duchess. The Duke of Sussex won’t leave the Duchess. And the Duchess will never leave

I hope I didn’t fumble it and that you got my intention

Quote “The children won’t go without me. I won’t leave the King. And the King will never leave.”

      • ShazBot says:

I would hope that Charles is at the point of listening to *some* advisors and a fascist despot kicking Harry out of the US and sending the family abroad to the welcome of probably quite a few countries is NOT what the royal family or the UK wants or needs.

  5. Julia says:

Harry is a rich, white Prince. He will be fine, no matter what the media says. Harry’s visa is not of interest to the US government. He is in the US legally and has an American wife and children.

    • Smart&Messy says:

And why would he be deported from a country where he has a legal visa? Because he was mean to his grandma? (or so the orange one said)

      • Ciotog says:

You do understand that this incoming administration is not bothered by niceties like “legality,” right?

      • Tessa says:

Trump treated his wives badly and his current wife does not look happy. The queen made it clear she adored harry and Meghan And the children saying they are much loved. Charles and William behaved badly to the sussexes

    • Brassy Rebel says:

If Trump or one of his sycophants doesn’t like him for any reason and wants him gone, he will be gone. Remember, things here are not going to work the way they used to. People seem to have a lot of trouble wrapping their heads around this concept. Understandably.

      • Mayp says:

I have been saying this for the longest time and people just don’t want to believe how bad it can, and probably will, get.

      • Tina says:

This exactly. He and the team around him are not going to play by the ‘rules’ this time and there is no one to stop them. The guardrails are gone. He can do whatever he wants.

      • Julia says:

You think the Trump administration is go to waste their time trying to cancel the visa of a British Prince? There is no public interest in this and outside a few nuts in the Heritage Foundation no one cares. Why would a political administration tie themselves up in knots trying to deport a legal immigrant? On what grounds?

      • Tessa says:

Trump has his own problems. He will be pleasing derangers who dislike the, sussexes which is not a good look to say the least. I doubt William can hurt them when or if he becomes king.

      • SIde Eye says:

Thank you Brassy Rebel. People don’t get it. In 2016 there were guard rails. There are none now. He himself has stated you won’t have to vote anymore we will fix it. Meaning, there aren’t gonna to be any more real elections. It will be like Putin getting reelected over and over.

What I am curious about is whether the California succession project will pick up steam once they shred the Constitution. And will states like Colorado and Washington follow? Because California has a strong enough economy to be its own country. I bet when the Heritage Foundation dystopia is here California and the states that don’t want slavery take some sort of action. These are unprecedented times – don’t let them gaslight you into thinking this will be like the first term. The first term was Disneyland.

Buying the property in Portugal wasn’t blind luck or chance, it’s their Plan B in case it pops off and it just did pop off. During trump’s first term, I made sure to get my son’s certificate of Canadian citizenship. I am so frigging glad I took the time to do this now. He is applying at Canadian Universities when the time comes. We have 3 years to go. We just need to survive 3 more years here. I feel for anyone who is Brown, Black, Trans, Gay, Jewish, Muslim who cannot leave. it’s gonna be hell absolute hell. Private prisons are going to soar. Internment camps. Modern day slavery.

For you White people you should be terrified as well – your terror comes in a different format – being forced to bear 9 children, dying in a miscarriage, being charged with a crime for miscarrying. No birth control. No more no fault divorce stay in your abusive marriages. Brain worm is in charge of Health and he is going to ban vaccines. If there’s another pandemic, you’re toast, if Measles doesn’t get you first. No more environmental protections so they’re gonna line their pockets and get richer letting their friends poison your water supply. Mass shootings on a scale you haven’t seen before. And that’s saying something. They are going to get richer burning this country to the ground. They care nothing about it or you.

People have no idea what’s coming – but the rhetoric “vermin” “infested” “illegals” “criminals” should be giving everyone a heads up.

      • QuiteContrary says:

        Exactly.

I hope it’s OK to post this link again, but historian Rick Perlstein has gamed this out.

        https://prospect.org/politics/2024-10-30-what-will-you-do-trump-wins/

    • LadyMTL says:

This is what I was going to say. Nothing against Harry but he is a rich, white celebrity and one thing Trump loves is rich celebrities. These deportations are not aimed at people like Harry, let’s be clear on that.

IMHO unless Harry says something overtly anti-Trump I think he’ll be fine.

      • MC says:

Agreed. That is why, even though I think she voted , she did not talk on the record like she did last time along with the picture with her I voted sticker. It’s going to be states with borders and high numbers of migrant workers, then immigrant communities and so forth. It’s going to be horrible. Unless Harry or Meghan say something that is not his primary target.

    • Jaded says:

The Heritage Foundation has billions of dollars, much of it funded by the Opus Dei offshoot of the Catholic Church that has infiltrated a massive, secret foothold in the ultra-Christian, far right organizations. They are notoriously misogynistic, against ALL women’s rights (think Mel Gibson), antisemitic, and have the resources to chase Harry out of the country as well as the permission of the fascist regime that is now in control of immigration policy.

    • Christine says:

Harry and Meghan will be fine. The problem both Charles and Trump have is no matter what petty bullshit they come up with, the Sussexes shine.

These two don’t have have enough life left between them to plot against the one’s son the other’s administration already gave a visa to.

The only people still getting off on this are derangers. Let ’em.

  6. Dee(2) says:

I’m not going to say what would or would not happen in the US anymore at this point, but I don’t understand the drive from the UK perspective to get Harry deported. To what end? Forcing him back into the royal family to work? He can still say no, he could still do all of his charity work in the UK. Other than just for the sheer evil of breaking up a family, I don’t see what benefit it provides to them. He’s not coming back to be your workhorse and I would imagine forcing someone to be deported would make public sentiment be on their side more so than the people that had it done.

    • Julia says:

Why would anyone assume he would come back to UK if he left the USA? He is a rich white man he can go and live anywhere in the world. Why would he come back to a place that won’t give him security and in the home of the British tabloids he hates?

    • Amy Bee says:

      @Dee(2): Exactly.

    • Lucy2 says:

They just want to see him punished, that’s all it’s about. No disrespect to Harry and his family, but I’m not going to worry about him- they have the means and resources to go wherever they want. Frankly If I had the same, I might move away for the next four years.

    • Interested Gawker says:

They want him back under the BRF’s control to stop the lawsuits.

  7. blueberry says:

In my mind the people who are driving the deportation and denaturalization efforts (Stephen miller) are not actually concerned with him. The troll will continue to talk trash but is he literally the one making decisions? I doubt it.

Either way I expect he will be fine.

    • RRN says:

They’ll start with the illegals first. Having said that, the incoming trump administration is going to be savage. If they don’t like Harry, he’s out. And tbh, they hate him. Yes he’s a white prince but whom did he marry? a person of color. the majority of hate towards them is because he married a woman of color.

      • Julia says:

They hate Harry? Says who? A few commentators in the British press. Nobody on Trumps team even speaks about Harry unless asked a leading question by the British media. This concern trolling is exhausting. Stop pretending to be worried about the visa of a white British millionaire. Worry about the ordinary Americans who don’t have Harry’s money and contacts. He will be fine. Most Americans and the US gov have no interest in the legal visa of rich white people.

  8. FancyPants says:

Does a visa application automatically have to be rejected if you check yes to ever using drugs? Because if not, I think any rational person can agree that Prince Harry Of The United Kingdom was always going to be approved, regardless.

    • Julia says:

You would not automatically be rejected if you admitted previous drug use. Maybe if you had a criminal conviction or were an addict but casual drug use in the past would not automatically prevent you obtaining a visa, especially if you are a rich, white prince from the UK.

    • Tessa says:

What if someone confessed he or she tried drugs in college briefly. Would they be deported. That would include many people if their visa was rejected for that.

      • shirleygailgal says:

People have been turned away from entering the US after having admitted they smoked weed in high school, 40 years ago. They were asked by a border guard, they told the truth and received a lifetime ban on ever entering the US.
Their lawyer has been on the case for 2 years w/o success. They have property in the US they cannot get to, check on, etc. These two people are upstanding, righteous citizens of Canada. And white. Yet still…they have been denied access to the US for admitting they smoked pot in high school.

    • helonearth says:

Clearly not, as there are plenty of musicians living in the US but were not born there who have been open about their drug use.

    • Emimy says:

@shirleygailgal Were any of these people who were turned away British millionaire princes with an American wife? Who had already been granted a visa under the first Trump administration in 2020?

    • sevenblue says:

Didn’t the American government try this with John Lennon? We know that John Lennon was actively using drugs and they still couldn’t deport him since he didn’t have any drug related conviction. There are many british artists living in USA who are known for their drug use, but no conviction on their records.

    • AD says:

No it doesn’t. It is at the discretion of the immigration officer. A judge has ruled that it is private. But he does not follow rules.

He going after H does not mean it will turn out that way. Give him a little heart burn that’s all. There are only 3 reason why your immigration record can be made public. Remember they argued he has a right to privacy just like Trump. He is not a public official.

Again, it depends on the visa. If he has a diplomatic passport then the point is moot as the question does not apply. It is not a green card, nor is he seeking citizenship.
It could be the reason the judge decided otherwise. As there is no there there. A lot of people think T is going to save them and make the economy better. Well he better starts doing that or that side will be in the same boat in a few years. A pendulum swings in both directions. We will see.

  9. Brassy Rebel says:

I have said this all along even as people scoffed at the possibility. The answer to the question “Is Prince Harry genuinely at risk of being deported by a second Trump administration?” is yes. And he always has been.

  10. Amy Bee says:

They’re not moving anywhere and I think deporting Harry is the last of Trump’s concerns. I still don’t believe they have a house in Portugal. The DM would have published photos of the house by now if they did.

    • Nerd says:

I also don’t believe there is a house in Portugal, for the same reason that there has never been a description or photos of the house or listed number of bedrooms or bathrooms, which the Fail does every single time they mention their Montecito home. They haven’t even given a rundown of the cost of this imaginary home that has never been confirmed, described or pictured.

  11. BQM says:

Harry’s not looking to be a citizen. And they’re not deporting him. I don’t think they’d care for the optics. They’re so much bluster and racism. They may shout about Harry but he’s not their primary target.

  12. Tessa says:

I doubt Trump will even try. The queens son Charles disrespected her through his interviews. Where is his punishment. The derangers though will want this and praise Trump to the skies. Like the derangers wanting to have peg in the throne soon so he can deal with harry and Meghan. Harry doesn’t do drugs now. So how come confessed drug users in the USA did not get deported. Many examples

  13. Talie says:

The royals would step in – no way in hell Charles and William want Harry & Meghan back in the UK to be able to disrupt them on a daily basis by doing the most basic of tasks. Trust – Charles would make a personal call if he had to.

    • Bings says:

There is no need to step in. Harry is ok.

    • Angelica Schuyler says:

This is a very important point. People keep thinking that Harry being back in the UK would mean he’d be back as a working royal. Imagine him continuing his business as he does now, but not under the umbrella of being a working royal. This is Charles and William’s worst nightmare. He would overshadow them at every turn. Harry’s not broke. He’s not under their thumb for his sustenance. He’s a successful businessman now. They’re better off letting him stay in the US to conduct his business rather than him visiting his charities and making appearances under his own auspices right in their own backyard.
The royalists want to turn the clock back to have Harry and Meghan under Charles’ thumb, but that horse is already out of the barn.

Those royalists should be careful what they wish for.

      • Angelica Schuyler says:

Remember, The Wales originally wanted H&M exiled off somewhere in Africa in obscurity… It’s too late for that.

  14. RRN says:

Idk about deportation but a second trump administration isn’t good for the Sussexes in general. We kept disregarding the attacks on them saying its just the British media and UK but now we know that America is right wing. Come on, Trump won the popular vote and the electoral college. Americans bought what Trump was selling.

I too think the Portugal property was for an escape, should anything happen. If not, it doesn’t hurt to invest in real estate or have a vacation home, a European base at that. Its not just the Sussexes; rich people have homes elsewhere and they’ll be the first to leave. Maybe the Sussexes saw this coming. i could be wrong here, but now Birmingham for the next Invictus game doesn’t sound so bad, right?! I know the Sussexes have money and while we don’t know about harry getting deported, its not gonna get better for the Sussexes. The attacks will be louder.

    • Tessa says:

The UK has gone in for the daily attacks on harry and Meghan. Not so much the usa.the king could have stopped thus ages ago even when he was still prince of Wales.

    • sevenblue says:

Obama got elected for two terms, Biden got elected against Trump. America is conservative in terms of fiscal policies. People don’t want to pay taxes and don’t want to see increased prices on goods. There was a racial bias against Kamala, but the increased votes for Trump were partly a reaction against inflation and Trump’s promise to drop taxes and instead, implement tariffs. It is a stupid idea, but a lot of people just heard “no tax” part of it.

  15. Bings says:

    Why would Harry get deported?

Harry has substantial US interests. He has a US citizen wife, US citizen children and he has US companies.

    Please.

He is not going anywhere. This is nonsense.

  16. Normal_Islander says:

I doubt Nigel Farage would be able to sway any of Trump’s decisions. He likes to pretend he’s in Trump’s inner circle while Trump is barely aware of his existence.

  17. Harla says:

“If” this happens, the Sussex’s would be welcomed with open arms by countries all over the world and while moving would be a nuisance, they’ll be fine. “If” this were to happen I would hope that they would divest all their businesses in America and never pay the US a dime in taxes.

  18. CreoleTomato says:

@Bings – Totally agree. It is highly likely that Harry is a US permanent resident (green cardholder) by now. I mean so was Rishi Sunak (up until he became Prime Minister) and the disgusting Piers Morgan as well. Harry is married to a US citizen, has established employment, a home, etc. in other words, any visa he came to the US on would now be secondary to the green card, which allows him to exit and enter the country. He’d maintain the green card, as long as he doesn’t stay away from the US for longer than a year.

  19. MY3CENTS says:

No risk for Harry, but it’ll give the BM something to salivate about and endless articles, here we go….

  20. chiclit says:

I absolutely believe Trump will cancel the visa etc. He loves this type of publicity. Harry should plan to make his living and travel outside the US. (if only we all could!)

    • AD says:

He can’t just cancel a visa. As I said if he turns on them it will be heartburn a little bit. But, he will not be deported because of immigration law and how it is set up. This will be a long post if I lay them out. The Maga nuts will start sending you know what if he starts on them so that is why it will not be good. But the deportation? it is not that easy even with T as prezo. The immigration law spells it all out.

    • Bings says:

Trump will not and cannot do this. Please understand why. Regardless of his (Trump’s) personal feelings, Harry has legitimate interests in the US. These interests do not change because of a Republican or Democratic president.

      It won’t happen.

      • bisynaptic says:

You think people who have “legitimate interests” in the US won’t get deported, under a Trump administration?

How are you defining “legitimate interests”?

  21. aquarius64 says:

This has been done and dusted on Harry’s visa. The Trump appointed judge ruled and sealed the findings. Trump is not going to undercut a judge he appointed because it will question his judgment (while there’s a ton of other things that do). Lili was born in the US; she and Archie have a US born mother, not one that came over.

  22. yipyip says:

I would not put anything past Trump.
Trump might go for Harry just for attention and to feed his ego.
OTOH, Harry is rich and white, so Trump might leave him alone.

Musk trans daughter is talking about leaving US.
    I wish I could.

    • Emily says:

How much attention would targeting Harry get in the US though? I don’t think most Americans care about the visa of a rich white man who came to the US legally and pays a considerable amount in taxes. The people who
voted for him expect him to do something to improve their lives. Not go after private citizens in California who haven’t broken any laws. Trump would have nothing to gain from it.

  23. Lulu says:

Top story on the DM, you have to scroll way down to find anything about William in South Africa.

  24. Nanea says:

The press salivating at the mere thought of having Harry deported, and the Heritage Foundation doing the same because they think they can get their hands on the visa application now, should think of Melania’s visa application being leaked — and the fact she worked as a model while on a tourist visa. Same goes for the Musk brothers. Kimbal even admitted to them being in the US illegally.

And someone should have a closer look at e.g. Nile Gardiner’s application.

    • Angied says:

Not the press here. This is all generated for clicks by the UK tabloids. No one is talking about Harry here. He is treated like any other celebrity here. We don’t obsess over him like those in the UK. They are just printing crap to generate clicks.

      • Julia says:

I’m in the UK and no one outside tabloid land a few right wing news outlets are talking about this either. This is tabloid fodder for the obsessed haters. Normal Brits are not thinking about Harry’s visa.

  25. Is That So? says:

I’m not sure anyone is safe, as ‘rule of law’ has been supplanted by ‘rule of whim’.

  26. Flamingo says:

Hindsight is 20/20 but maybe it was for the best that Meghan stayed quiet as an American Citizen endorsing no one.

If she had thrown her hat in for Harris. I can see them being on a list of grudges for Trump to punish.

But I agree with most of you. No one is going to deport a rich white man with royal connections.
That is married to an American with I assume dual citizenship children. Just not going to happen. But it swirls up the haters to obsess over and click bait for those news outlets.

    • Amy Bee says:

But she didn’t endorse Biden when he was running either. All Meghan has done since becoming a royal is encourage people to vote.

    • CreoleTomato says:

      🎯
Guess some folks may have forgotten the fuss the DM made over Harry listing his residency as the US, as opposed to the UK – at the beginning of the year. This is leading me to believe that he is a green card holder/permanent resident. Not to be confused with being an American citizen with voting rights. The US has many green card holders from Europe as well as everywhere else. This visa story is being sold to their UK readers for the clicks and the drama.

    • Cassie says:

The Sussexes have barely been seen since Harry’s whip around charity tour and Meghans red dress .
There has been no mention of the election ,

I have been wondering what they have been up to .
They are making a movie at some stage apparently .

I don’t know but I think they have been making some important decisions about their future and safety ,

  27. sunnyside up says:

I would have thought that running the country is far more important than kicking Harry out, it’s all so petty.

  28. LynZ says:

Anyone that believes we will be in anything other than an authoritarian dictatorship is fooling themselves. There will never be another election. Ever. The racists now have control of all aspects of the government and will never cede it. If the Heritage Foundation wants Harry or any of us gone we will be gone. There will be no laws except those that they make and enforce. Since we have only lived in a democracy no one can imagine what a fascist regime will be like.

    • Mayp says:

💯💯💯💯💯. I am just flabbergasted that people don’t seem to get this. Do they not remember his last administration? Do they not realize that he now has the court mandated ability to break any and all laws he wants without recourse? Have they never lived under, been aware of or visited a country under a dictator? Or, a notoriously corrupt country? Well, I have, and a second term with Trump scares the heck out of me.

  29. bisynaptic says:

“Harry is currently in a legal battle involving his immigration status.”
    — FALSE. The government was fighting the Heritage Foundation, on his and every other immigrant’s behalf, to keep his documents private.

  30. Libra says:

Before Harry submitted Spare to the publisher I am certain his attorney read and vetted ecerything. His immigration status is fine and legal. I trust his advisors to have protected him.

  31. Claire says:

Not a trump fan and yes he’s a lunatic who is hard to predict but even for him I have to think that prince harry is way down his list of priorities and I don’t really see what he would have to gain politically by deporting him so I just don’t see it happening. I don’t think his base really cares about prince harry much one way or the other.

    • Mayp says:

OMG, Trump’s main allies, including the Heritage Foundation, are all about deporting Prince Harry or at the very least releasing for public consumption his visa application forms! Do you really think that Trump cares about what his “base” wants anyway? He knows that whatever he does it’s all fine by “Joe ‘Maga’ Blow.” He cares about making magnanimous gestures and looking tough, like deporting Harry, to satisfy his ego, his right-wing financial backers and the Heritage Foundation.

      • Tessa says:

The ones that clamor for it are derangers who want a Sussex divorce it could be from royals and people like piers.

  32. India says:

If Harry and Meghan have indeed purchased a home in Portugal, and they plan to move there, and they are reading this….PLEASE TAKE ME WITH YOU.

  33. sammi says:

Murdoch and Charlie Boy want the court case dropped in UK…………….Trump loves Murdoch and good press…………..Trump wants kings and big wigs at the White House bowing to Him and his new Dy,,,,nasty…………..Already said Harry was rude to The Queen when it was Trumpity who pushed past her to inspect the Guards on his State visit. Remember who did not attend his State Dinner…????…Meghan with an excuse she was pregnant a bit like Dolly saying her husband was ill when she did not go to the White House .
They could not deport Lennon and Yoko try as they might so good luck with this one and hope they do try as it will sap more energy away from more vulnernable people who cannot stand up to these fascist bullies.
