Jeff Bezos finally dropped the Washington Post’s endorsement for Donald Trump

Two Fridays before the election, the Washington Post announced that they would not endorse a presidential candidate. As it turns out, WaPo’s editorial board had a Kamala Harris endorsement locked and loaded, but WaPo owner Jeff Bezos killed the endorsement, as did his hand-picked Murdoch-lackey CEO Will Lewis. Bezos tried to defend the choice, but he sounded like a f–king a–hole. Well, look who finally endorsed Donald Trump:

I saw someone mention that Bezos never publicly congratulated Joe Biden on his victory in 2020, so I spent a few minutes looking through Bezos’ Twitter feed. His last tweet in 2020 was in February of that year, regarding a meeting with Emmanuel Macron. Bezos stayed publicly silent throughout the 2020 election, he didn’t congratulate President Biden at any point, and he also stayed silent about the January 6th insurrection. From Feb. 2020 through September 2021, Bezos didn’t tweet at all. His Sept. 2021 tweet was congratulating Elon Musk and SpaceX. Then in 2022, Bezos is suddenly and publicly hyper-critical of Pres. Biden’s economic policies. Yeah… the reason why Bezos killed the Post’s endorsement was because he, the billionaire owner of the Washington Post, did not want Kamala Harris to win. It was that simple. The billionaires – all of whom got richer in the Biden economy – all decided that it wasn’t enough that they got richer, they wanted the middle class to suffer under Donald Trump. Congrats to Trump’s oligarchs, they got it done.

A big F U to him and all the others like him…

  2. Coco Bean says:

I canceled Amazon Prime yesterday and the reason I gave was I no longer wanted to support multibillionaires or the USA turning into an oligarchy. I’ll survive without Amazon

    • Wilma says:

Yeah, I canceled Prime when I canceled WaPo after the non-endorsement with the reason: Jeff Bezos does not deserve more money.

      • Ponchorella says:

I did the same. If I ever reeeeaaallly need something with quick ship from there, I can get someone to order for me.

Most of the stuff is 30-40% less on Aliexpress anyways, cuz it’s all cheap Chinese crap. I might as well cut out the oligarch middleman.

      • Drea says:

Honestly, there’s nothing anyone needs quick ship with a little planning. I cancelled prime years ago, and still get free shipping within 2-3 days, 4 if I’m in a more remote location, as long as you buy $35 worth. Also, if you’re not super rural, you’re near stores you can get too. We all survived just fine before prime was a thing.

      • TN Democrat says:

The takeover by big cooperations (Wal-Mart, Walgreens and Dollar General) in my rural area has limited selection as well as limited competition. I loathe amazon and Wal-Mart, but certain essential items (mainly medical/first aid supplies) have to be ordered from Amazon or Walmart because they are no longer available anywhere else. I got pissed about Bezos months ago (and loathe giving the Walton family my money), and have repeatedly looked for certain times in multiple stores in surrounding cities an hour plus away. Even pharmacies/big box stores in cities with 50 k+ people don’t have the selection available that was once available pre-Amazon.

    • Flowerlake says:

      Very good.

We need to stop giving billionaires even more power.
      Money=power,
Yes, even that 4 dollar item you buy because it “looks cute”.

    • Josephine says:

I did the same. It actually felt great. I’m also planning to spend way less money in general, and to spend very thoughtfully and locally. I’m lucky – I have local choices. So little is in our control anymore, but women are the decision-makers for a lot of consumption in many households, and I am done giving money to useless companies. I am done spending, period. Gifts and groceries, and I can buy direct from local farmers for some things. And the gifts will be experiences and local merchants that I can support. Keep money local, it is an extremely powerful move.

    • SIde Eye says:

I did the same! Fuck these welfare queens who hardly pay taxes so they can get a bigger yacht. I canceled Prime. I don’t buy from Amazon amymore. I don’t have Twitter. I quit Facebook. Fuck them.

    • Lil Soleil says:

Same. I cancelled Prime and deleted my Amazon account yesterday. I also was given a refund on my Prime subscription. There are more of us than them, so make it hurt for them. Canceling Spotify next. If everyone got off Twitter, and stopped giving money to these goons, it would hurt them in their wallet which is the one and only thing these billionaire bros care about. Truly . I’ve seen a lot of comments saying, oh, I just can’t possibly get off Twitter, I can’t possibly delete Amazon. Yes, you can. You’ll survive. And if we all did it, it would matter. Hit them the only place it hurts. It feels good.

  3. TN Democrat says:

Good lort. He looks like he belongs in Panem. Glad I canceled Amazon and all Amazon products. Ick. Ick. Ick.

  4. Amy Bee says:

Another reason why billionaires shouldn’t exist.

  5. InVain says:

He’s so gross and so is his blow-up doll.
Hope there’s a big enough bus for all these rich white assholes headed to hell.

    • Josephine says:

Don’t forget room for all of the fake-Christians. They are really the problem. And the folks who choose the cost of eggs over human rights. They are all going to hell, and many of them will get there pretty fast because a huge wave of deregulation and monopolization is first on the agenda. Hope no one needs workers’ rights, because they are gone, and even those that remain will not be enforced by any government agency.

      • Lise says:

The billionaires and the Christian nationalists are to blame for all of this. All of them. F them all. I hope there is a hell so that these cretins have to face it someday.

  6. Bev says:

Yes, when I need an item I can’t get locally, I will be shopping for it on Ebay rather than Amazon.

  7. Brassy Rebel says:

These billionaires are all in competition to be Trump’s #1 oligarch. They’ve been waiting for this opportunity and are seizing the moment. 🤢🤮

  8. Joanne says:

I never understood the saying ” face like a slapped arse ” until I saw Lauren Sanchez. Her face and her breasts look painful.

  9. WaterisLife says:

I hope he and that thing he calls a fiancé get the lives they deserve.

  10. Marigold says:

This gross, pandering, selfish motherfucker. Eat the rich.

  11. Eurydice says:

Sadly, he’s everyone’s oligarch. He’s profited from every administration (he bought the WaPo during Obama’s second term). I’ve tried to avoid Amazon as much as possible over the years – now I’ll try harder.

  12. Nanea says:

Add me to the list of people who has been done with Amazon for quite some time.

Luckily for us we can get most of what we need offline, so for us it never was a big deal. But there are neighbors who think of themselves as progressive *and environmentally conscious* who get Prime deliveries 3 times a week, and some of their food delivered from an organic farm 20 miles away, despite our district being surrounded by organic farms. They don’t seem to care about Bezos’s politics, too far away from us here in Europe, and anyway, deliveries are so convenient.
    🙄🤨🤬

  13. Ms single malt says:

Lauren Sanchez is not my cup of tea. I am often surprised at the way Celebitchy
commentators spew such hateful comments towards her appearance/fashion/surgeries.

    • Joanne says:

My comment is not about her natural appearance. It’s about having such bad, unnecessary cosmetic surgery that looks so painful. Most of the comments focus on what she deliberately did to her body and it doesn’t improve her appearance. I’m sure she was a very attractive woman before she chose to alter herself. This is a gossip site and we gossip about her choices not about things she has no control over.

      • Ms single malt says:

I wasn’t directly refering to any specific posts. Though calling a woman ‘that thing’ just seems to rub me the wrong way today.
America is unable to elect a female President. So much polarization. We can all say there is misogyny and sexism at play. I’m less inclined to be so hateful to another woman for her plastic surgery choices, sense of fashion or taste in men/relationships. There is so much hate in the world. And we see a lot of it on this site. It goes well beyond ‘gossip’. We like certain women and give them a pass. Other women are condemned. And sometimes posters have outdated views. A few of the Giselle Bundchen pregnancy comments were appalling.

      • bisynaptic says:

@MySingleMalt, I’ve never seen her being referred to as “that thing”, here.

  14. Libra says:

Almost seems like he knew Trump would win.

    • Dara says:

That’s my current conspiracy theory. I’m not saying the fix was in (or maybe I am, who knows), but I certainly think the gazillionaires had access to information/analysis even the pollsters, pundits and campaigns did not. The lack of endorsements wasn’t necessarily meant as overt help for Donald Trump (or maybe I am saying that, who knows), but it was CYA for when he won. They may have more money than God, but they are still afraid of a tyrant with a vindictive streak.

  15. Cee says:

What he did is gross misconduct and I am glad he gets to wake up next to that hideous mask of a face. FO Bezos!

  16. Sid says:

We need to end this insane consumerist culture that we have in the U.S. It has made Bezos and others like him insanely wealthy, while normal everyday people fall into debt just to keep up. No more. Starve these oligarch clowns.

    • Blithe says:

Well, start with all of the systems — including the government— that now pretty much require having a computer/phone to access information and even to submit information. That means frequently replacing devices designed for obsolescence and private profits in order to access essential government services.

Of course government services will be dwindling. As to the “insane consumerist culture “, George W Bush once sent citizens checks so that we could save our economy by shopping, and consumer debt, fees, and penalties are supporting more than a few major institutions. I don’t disagree with you, but entrenched monopolies are very hard to topple — by design.

    • Glamarazzi says:

Well they’re about to make it easier to end consumerist culture with those huge tariffs. Middle class people won’t be able to buy anything and maybe that’ll be the beginning of the end of consumption.

    • Josephine says:

Exactly right. Consumerism and “influencers” can go away. The misinformation campaign was spread largely through tiktok and influencers. We have the power of the purse and we must use it.

  17. K says:

ALL of the rich know who is going to give them the most. This country will become a full oligarchy and Trump will learn everything from his buddy Putin.

  18. Jacq says:

Autocrats surround themselves with oligarchs. Bezos is thrilled to jump on the billionaire Trump train.

  19. girl_ninja says:

Lol…have fun when Dump turns on you Jeffery. Fucking greedy bum.

  20. yipyip says:

    Booo Jeff, you suck!

  21. Wednesday Addams says:

I cancelled Prime, Audible (That one hurt!), and will no longer shop with Zappos. I just feel sick, like I woke up yesterday in the wrong reality.

    • Flowerlake says:

      Good!

It does make a difference. Thank you 🙂

And instead of Prime as entertainment, consider listening to people’s podcasts that need the audience much more. Particularly activists, charities etc.

Finally, a recommendation: use Ecosia to search. Every search contributes to the planting of a tree.

They’ve planted lots of trees already in all kinds of countries around the world. Environmental initiatives will need lots of help.

Resist in every small and big way.

      • Lady D says:

Thank you so much, Flowerlake for letting me know about the website Ecosia. I’m thrilled to my toes to learn of such a site. I’m starting a forest.

    • girl_ninja says:

The Audible thing suuuucks. But try Libby which is connected to public libraries and free. And try Audiobooks.

  22. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

And a big huge fuck you too Jefe

  23. Caroline says:

Bezos congratulated Biden in an IG post. It was linked in Community Notes on Twitter, if I find it again, I’ll post.

    Update: Found it: https://www.instagram.com/jeffbezos/p/CHTZ-TyHqjN/

  24. Sandy says:

Instead of Prime, Target’s free shipping for orders over $35 works for me. I order things ahead of when they run out so it’s never a rush.

Not shopping at Whole Foods will suck.

    • Josephine says:

Whole Foods has steadily gone down anyway. But I hear you, especially in communities where there are fewer choices. I’m gardening more and seeking out local farmers.

  25. ravensdaughter says:

    Opportunist a**hole..

So glad I dropped Amazon Prime! I am already seeing the benefits of doing that. Mainly, I’m spending less, because nothing is worse for an impulse buyer than Prime.

Plus, Prime Video sucks because all the decent movies you have to rent anyway.

Bezos is trying to walk things back, but he pissed everyone off, and now he’ll have to get in line after Musk and RFK Jr. to pay tribute to the Godfather President.

It’s gonna be a long four years. Yikes…

  26. Jaded says:

The billionaire Project 2025 takeover has begun. The sofa-fukcer could be president by the mid-terms. Mr. Jaded’s cousin lives in Texas and he and his wife are actively looking to move to Canada, hopefully Victoria BC where we live, to get away from the hellscape America has become.

  27. Constant says:

The ever mutating blow-up doll he possesses was the tell for me.

  28. RebeccA says:

    He’s a fucking tool.

  29. Kadie says:

It’s been reported that Bezos, Elon, and a few others earned 64 BILLION from just the election. So cancel whatever you can. Actually thinking of shutting down other SM accounts and living that analog life

  30. Lynn says:

    I just cancelled Amazon.

  31. Khate's Mourning Wig says:

Canceled Amazon Prime and they go the way of the Dodo for me.

  32. VilleRose says:

I don’t think we know Mackenzie Scott’s politics but she must be relieved to be rid of this deadweight idiot. Considering how she has been involved in giving away most of her wealth the last few years, I’m going to say she doesn’t agree with her ex-husband. I hope she feels like she dodged a bullet!

  33. yipyip says:

If Jeff was smarter, he and his blow up doll would stay quiet.

  34. Grandma Susan says:

trump “uniting America”? hahahahahahahahahahaha. My only comfort is in knowing that within a year after he takes office his supporters will learn that, yes, leopards WILL eat their faces too.

  35. Mee says:

Did everyone forget that Lauren and her brother were HUGE Orange fans in 2016??!!!! I remember because I scratch my head every time a Latino is an Orange fan. So, it fully tracks that Jeff boy is an Orange fan.

  36. Wendy says:

Got rid of Prime and not planning on using Amazon if I can avoid it. F these billionaires.

There is some food bloggers crowing away how Tr*** and Kennedy as heath minister will help them get rid of food dyes in Kellogg’s cereals – yeah good luck – all existing regs will be gone let alone any new ones. They will never be ones to regulate corporations

  37. VelveetaSneeze says:

    Whatta troll.
