Chris Evans explains why he’s rocking long hair & a beard these days

Chris Evans is in his furry era. And sadly, I don’t mean he and his wife Alba Baptista finally settled on whether to adopt a puppy or senior dog as a sibling for their Boxer mix Dodger. No, I’m afraid it’s Mr. Evans himself who’s adopted a hirsute personal grooming style that lands him somewhere between glamper and hot professor. So, is he just trying out a new signature look? Nah, turns out the long hair and scruffy beard is all for a movie he’s filming called Sacrifice. Entertainment Tonight got the hairy details out of Chris during the Monday NYC premiere of his new Christmas movie Red One, which comes out on Friday.

Chris Evans has been sporting a bushy new beard on his Red One press tour and he’s explaining the choice behind the facial hair.

The 43-year-old actor was asked about his new look while attending the Red One premiere in New York City on Monday (November 11).

Chris told Entertainment Tonight that the beard is for “a job I am working on.”

“It’s a film called Sacrifice with Anya Taylor-Joy and John Malkovich,” Chris added. The star-studded cast also includes Brendan Fraser, Salma Hayek, Charli XCX, and Vincent Cassel, among others.

Deadline reports that Sacrifice — loosely inspired by the Joan of Arc story — “tells the story of Joan (Taylor-Joy), a zealous spirit driven by a volcanic prophecy only she can hear, who is on a mission to save the world from a fiery reckoning. Along with her militia of mystical disciples, she hijacks a glamorous charity gala and takes three hostages: Mike Tyler (Evans), a beleaguered movie star desperate for redemption, Bracken (Cassel), the world’s richest man, and Katie (Ambika Mod), who’s just unlucky. They are forced on a journey through forest and fire until Mike faces the ultimate question: what would he sacrifice for humanity?”

So… Sacrifice is a rom-com? JK, JK! That’s quite the plot, though. It almost sounds like script by Madlibs: Joan of Arc plus movie stars plus billionaires, oh my! And according to IMDb, which lists the movie as an action comedy, Anya Taylor-Joy’s Joan character is looking for an “artifact tied to an ancient prophecy.” So now I’m getting Indiana Jones meets National Treasure vibes. What in the world is this project?! I’ll be honest, I would probably not be looking twice at this movie, were it not for the cast attached. Something has to be there in the script to lure in that kind of talent, right? Besides the paycheck? It’s written and directed by Romain Gavras, a French filmmaker who’s done a lot of high profile music videos, so maybe he’s the big draw. Everything we’ve heard thus far is so batsh-t crazy, the only plausible outcomes are an innovative masterpiece that exceeds all expectations, or an epic fail. No middle ground. Not when a sacrifice for humanity is at stake!!

Whatever the reason is, I approve🤤

Right? Evans was never my type, I honestly wouldn’t have looked twice at him, but now…DAMN.

      • Lucy2 says:

Me too. I recognize that’s he’s conventionally attractive, but he’s never done much for me. Now though…I’m kinda digging it.

Can I just say that the Rock is such a turn off for me now after his both-siding nonsense? Red One is exactly the type of diversionist movie I could get into, but I kinda of dislike Dwayne Johnson now. Too bad.

  4. Nanea says:

Romain Gavras is the son of the film-maker legend Costas-Gavras, so he probably didn’t need to really persuade the cast?

That said, reading the plot, I wouldn’t necessarily be interested, but given the cast, I’ll be on the lookout eventually, depending on what I’m hearing.

Red One doesn’t really sound like we need to go out, and the Rock has never been a draw for us. His politics were always icky.

    Still counting down till GII.

  5. Lisa says:

Chris is hot, not terrible in the group of Chris’s, not my fav, not the worst. The pebble lost my respect.

  6. Lau says:

Didn’t he have (more or less) the same style in avengers Infinity War ?
