Chris Rock apparently takes private stand-up gigs for the money. Many entertainers do the same, especially musical artists. Rock got paid to do a comedy set at a billionaire’s Christmas party, and according to the NY Post, something happened right after Rock made a stupid, unfunny and racist joke.
Chris Rock “stormed out” in the middle of his comedy set at billionaire Anthony Pratt’s Christmas party. The 59-year-old comedian did a surprise set at Pratt’s holiday party over the weekend, according to The Post.
However, his set was cut short after he joked, “Our new push will be outer space. We’ll put all the Mexicans on the rockets.”
The Post’s Cindy Adams, who attended the soirée, said Rock “saw something the audience did not” that “upset him.”
He shouted that “he wasn’t supposed to be taped, videoed, reported or whatever else wasn’t supposed to happen.”
Rock then “[barreled] quickly, forcefully, through people to the exit doors” without explaining why.
“Without a second’s hesitation, stormed out — never to return,” Adams described the incident. Page Six has reached out to Rock’s reps but did not immediately hear back.
According to the Mail, Rock cut his set short because he saw kids in the audience and he worried that his material would be inappropriate for them. That explanation makes zero sense. What makes perfect sense is that Rock has lost his comedy juice and he now makes racist and insensitive jokes for money, and he didn’t want anyone filming him during his side-gig. All of the sh-tstorm around Chris Rock and the “Oscars slap,” I’m still sort of shocked that no one has really talked about Rock’s dated material and his inability to adapt his comedy with the times. The whole reason Will Smith slapped him is because he compared Jada to G.I. JANE, a movie which came out in 1997.

Well I hope his check was stopped. Big baby Rock.
I don’t get why he would get upset because somebody was filming. I think the real reason he stormed out was because nobody was laughing at his racist and dated jokes.
He was making fun of immigrants in front of his rich audience. He didn’t want it to be shared on social media, because of cancel culture or wokeness or whatever else he is yelling about.
Mad no one laughed at his joke and fled the scene in a huff 🤣🤣🤣 I bet he was shocked and embarrassed that a bunch of rich folks didn’t laugh a nasty Mexican joke. He’s a shell of what he was a comedian and I’m glad it’s catching up to him.
Side note: Cindy Adams is still alive?
God this bigoted Archie Bunker shit is so dated and unfunny. Some of these washed-up comedians need to permanently retire–go knit or sit on a beach or something.
Why bother with straight male, old and tired comedy when there’s Fortune Feimster!
He did a comedy special post “slap”- and he had a year to work on it and…. it was not very good.
He just isn’t funny anymore, and like all rich (mostly male) comedians who don’t want to put any work into changing with the times- he reacts like a big baby.
I will say i was stunned when seinfeld reversed one of his stupid opinions this past year- the bar is low, but i was impressed.
It does bum me out though- Chappelle, Rock- i LOVED their stuff growing up.
But as Rock himself says- Pookie (see: new jack city) was a long time ago.
RE: Seinfeld–me too. I was surprised so many people here were still criticizing him because it was one of the most genuine apologies I’ve ever heard from a male comedian and it actually showed that he understood why he was wrong–it wasn’t some half-ass apology meant to placate the critics.
I missed the Seinfeld apologizes chapter-could someone fill me in quickly? Did he apologize for dating a teenager?
I’ve never been a fan. I do think, though, that if he’s comfortable making his living from cruelty, sexist “jokes” and racism, he should be bold enough to openly own it.
I’m shocked by Rock’s necklace — which I guess is intended as some sort of fan boy tribute. Prince was one of the most talented human beings to ever grace us with his presence and his art. Rock — not so much.
Such a broflake.
@Jeb
No Seinfeld will never, ask bobcat
Not very professional of Chris Rock. That being said, from what I understand about private and corporate gigs, they are a comedian’s nightmare. These gigs rarely go well.
Heh–no surprise there. Truly funny comedy punches up–and it makes fun of wealthy/corporate types.
