Alan Ritchson has a nemesis and it’s ‘that motherf—er’ Matt Gaetz

I’ve covered Alan Ritchson’s interviews before, and I find him very interesting. He’s the star of Prime’s Reacher, and he used to be a male model. He’s really into fitness, stunt work and Christianity, but he’s also really woke. He does his own “Bible studies” on social media AND he publicly calls out Donald Trump for being a “rapist and con man.” He can’t believe that Evangelical Christians support Trump. Well, Ritchson has a profile in GQ Hype to promote Reacher, and he spoke about playing on-screen sex scenes and how he and Matt Gaetz were classmates.

“Reacher” star Alan Ritchson is a devout Christian, but apparently he’s rubbed people of the same faith the wrong way with his acting. Speaking to GQ magazine, the action star said that some Christians have a hard time separating him from his characters and their actions on screen.

“People have this weird relationship with fictional characters, and sort of equate that to the real human being,” Ritchson said. “I don’t have that problem, making that distinction. I get criticized a lot by Christians who are like, ‘How dare you have an unmarried sex scene on TV and then talk about Jesus?’ I’m sorry—I doubt that’s going to be part of the conversation when I’m standing at the pearly gates!”

Ritchson, who will be reprising Reacher in the third season of Amazon Prime Video’s hit action series, is known to speak his mind. In his GQ magazine, he spoke out against his former classmate Matt Gaetz. Ritchson and the politician attended school together after the actor’s family moved from Illinois to Niceville, Fla.

“That motherf–ker. We are adversaries,” Ritchson said. “It’s shocking to me that the panhandle of Florida continues to vote for somebody—knowing everything we know about him and the promises that he’s made behind closed doors about pardoning certain criminals—he’s just not a good dude! There’s part of me that wants to get into politics to outdo somebody like him for good, and there’s part of me that’s like, I’m not duplicitous enough to succeed in politics. There are certain people that do a good job of staying true to who they are, but they’re ineffective. I think Bernie Sanders is a hero. But it’s like, what has he accomplished?”

Granted, I don’t know that much about Ritchson beyond a handful of interviews and I don’t follow him as a celebrity/actor, but I LOVE the fact that he has a nemesis. I love it even harder that his nemesis is human trafficking sleaze Matt Gaetz. Their nemesis origin story is amazing – classmates in Florida, where Ritchson clocked the fact that Gaetz is a total douchebag, and Ritchson has been following Gaetz’s sleaze all this time.

It’s funny to me that they both look like comic book characters and are similarly opposite in values. Matt Gaetz is a human trafficking, child raping (and then paying! like she’s a prostitute!) POS fascist. Admittedly I don’t know much about Ritchson beyond him being a devout Christian, but one who chooses to walk the path Jesus laid out in the Bible: being good. But that’s two sides of a coin.

I am always amused that Ritchson was the actor who played a guy with micropenis who was a really really sucky guy on New Girl. 😀

There are two kinds of Christians: the ones that pat themselves on the back and look down on others, even other Christians. Then there are those that walk the walk. I’m sick of the term WOKE from either side, but that’s pretty much the definition of a real Christian. Plus any man that has Matt Gaetz as a nemesis has my vote.
Guess it’s time to give Reacher a shot.

First of all…seeing a CHRISTIAN WHO PRATICES JESUS THE CHRIST PRINCIPALS? MY G-D GLORY YES❣️❣️❣️

Secondly…what he said about Bernie Sanders…LITERALLY made me fall in 🥰 with him…SERIOUSLY!

When there is a real, decent Christian out there speaking truth to d*pshits, we have to acknowledge and applaud. This is one way we can start to reunify the country. People who believe in truth and goodness standing together, in spite of what other differences we have. The sane people have to find common ground with each other and call out the insane.

That’s just it – if you ACTUALLY read the words and actions of Jesus and act accordingly, you would be woke. Jesus was woke. Jesus was a rebel who didn’t approve of organized religion, and supported the oppressed, etc etc etc.

Reacher is the only reason I paused my amazon ban. Nice to know Alan is an upfront guy. Got to admit when I heard christian I cringe and assumed the worst

Unlike Andrew Tate and Mark Zuckerberg, this man defines uber masculine for me.

I am not a big fan of overly muscled dudes, but this man is FIRE! He was also in the Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare which is a mediocre movie packed full of truly beautiful men and he was hysterical.

Good on him for being vocal — as someone who grew up in Central Oklahoma, my entire family is comprised of evangelical Christians — who consider themselves good and Godly people; they attend church regularly, help their neighbors, live decent lives — and are full on MAGA Trumpers– the greatest Con (among many) is how Cheeto convinced the Christians that he is one of them.

Preach it. Part of why we are her is BECAUSE of Bernie and that’s a fact.

Matt Gaetz is a criminal predator who’s escaped accountability, so I appreciate Alan for calling him out. I love Reacher, but unfortunately, I’ll miss it now that I’ve dropped Prime.

Part of why we are here (meaning in MAGA world?) is because of Bernie Sanders? Is that what you’re saying? Can you elaborate?

      • Betsy says:

Probably because in 2016, Bernie played dirty in the Democratic primaries and his most fervent fans still blame Hillary for “rigging” the primaries (of a party he is very much not a member of and refuses to be a member of, even if in doing so he helped pull the party to the left). IIRC, he also stole her or the DNC’s list of individual donors. And then he spent months flirting with not endorsing Hillary/tacitly endorsing Stein or Trump with his silence. Personally, I am of the mind that Russia (yes, truly Russia) was able to gain access to enough voting systems to change enough votes in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, but it was third party/abstaining Bernie voters who made that outcome seem plausible.

And for those who might not remember, their line back then was that Hillary and Donald were the same and there was no point in voting for her over him. That or Susan Sarandon’s take that we should burn it all down and start from scratch, because that always works out well for those with the least power.

Matt Gaetz should be everyone’s nemesis. This is an actor who says what’s on his mind and I don’t mind it.

  9. Blithe says:

Actually, just one of the things that Bernie has accomplished is that he’s a hero to people like Alan Ritchson — and to me, and to millions of others. If those of us who have heroes like Bernie vote accordingly, then values like Bernie’s win. Unfortunately, that’s not where we are right now. Also, ask Bernie’s constituents if Bernie is “ineffective “. They may have experiences and expectations that matter more than Ritchson’s — unless I’m guessing wrong, and Ritchson is actually a Vermonter.

I’ve been following him and his wife on social media since the first season of Reacher. They’ve been married 18/19 years and have three sons, he comes across as extremely earnest on SM. He’s also open about having bipolar disorder and had a very serious s*icide attempt. In an interview I think from last season he also blasted several accused SA ers from his modeling days by name.

It’s refreshing seeing someone with no filter and calling stuff out.

  11. Bqm says:

Shocking—someone who actually believes in the Christ part of Christianity. It’s sad that it *is* so shocking though. And I admire someone who talks openly about mental illness. Especially when they’re stereotypically masculine guys like Alan or Chris Evans. Too many guys think it’s not “manly” to discuss anxiety or depression.

Reacher is a really fun show and Alan is really good in it to boot. And a total smoke show.

  12. Kiki says:

I have watched Reacher since Season 1. I didn’t expect to like it but I found it interesting. I liked AR alot and I was impressed how he made a1D character so watchable. Now I know how he did it. I think he puts alot of himself in it. I would LOVE to see a Reacher scene featuring a Gaetz-esque character on the receiving side of some Reacher justice.

  13. Luna says:

So refreshing to hear from Christians who acknowledge and walk the path of Jesus (I’m not Christian, but I was raised in it and I think Jesus as described in the New testament was a pretty cool dude).

I just discovered comedian Clint Cash. As far as I can tell he said Christian progressive comedian from one of the Carolinas. I love his comedy special on YouTube! He also did this short bit asking Trump supporters to stop pretending their Christian and his points are spot on.

As a long-time reader & fan of the Reacher books, I have some trouble with the filmed portrayals of the character. Cruise, in the first one was just a joke. Ritchson’s (or the script writers’) interpretation is coarser than the books’Reacher, but he was a riot in Ungentlemanly Gentleman – the only other show in which I’ve seen him.
