Prince William had two days of “work” this week – the Commonwealth Day service on Monday, and a trip to the Referee Training Course on Tuesday. It’s unusual for him to work on consecutive days at the start of the week. Now I know why – Peggington had to make time to watch a football match. Aston Villa (William’s favorite team) beat Club Brugge 3-0. I’ve often said that William is “the cooler” for his favorite teams, the bad-luck charm which assures that they lose important matches or games. Aston Villa managed to get it done with William in the stands though. This victory for Aston Villa means that they’re going to the FA Cup quarterfinals, where they’ll face PSG. Which means more football for Peggington!
Meanwhile, at William’s event on Tuesday, he made a bald joke about himself. Which is a rare thing – William is too arrogant for self-deprecation, and he’s incredibly touchy about his baldness. He met a woman with brightly-dyed orange hair, and he said: “Look at your hair, it’s fantastic. Wish I had hair like that. I know, I’ve not a chance.” Someone put the fear of God into him, that he really has to make an effort to be friendly these days, and he has to do some work events if he wants to watch Aston Villa in person.

What’s so exciting about that dude’s coffee cup?
He is so unphotogenic.
Just a quick correction. This wasn’t the FA Cup, which is a competition of UK football clubs at all levels. This was the UCL, which is a competition between the best clubs of all the different European leagues.
Why is Peg grabbing that man’s face? With his mouth wide open? Global statesman my ass.
There are more photos of W and “that” man which are just so awkward and embarrassing. His reaction to the win is completely OTT when compared to that of his companions. It’s as if AV winning is all he has to look forward to in life. The man who would be king, who’s supposedly a dedicated family man who never misses the school run or cancelling “work” during school holidays seems to live a rather empty life ( and no, I don’t feel sorry him)
Does anyone know this poor man’s name? Is he Peg’s new BFF?
Edward Van Cutsem isn’t it? He’s married to the Duke of Westminster’s sister. He’s just older.
Someone said its Van Cutsem and Straubenezee (spelling I know, sorry.)
So now its not just William going to these games but taking his best friends with him. Do we think he’s paying for those seats, or does he just call up the owner and show up with however many people he’s bringing that day?
Oh good question becks1. I have no idea about the tickets and who pays. You would think these guys could pay for it and William is prob stingy. But he can use his position to get extra tix. The bigger issue Im thinking is whether his friends join him in the royal helicopter to get to the game. Not sure the protocol on that.
He looks like he’s going to swallow him whole or suck his blood dry.
He looks like he’s about to gouge his eyes out. Yikes.
William looks so scruffy he looks like he snuck into the game and was allowed to stay.
What was in that coffee cup. William looks like he had a fee grabbing the man’s face. At least he did not take george who would have been dressed as a bank president
Edit had a few
Aston Villa FB might really be one of William’s great true loves. He’s willing to work 2days in a row not to get called out for it. He even goes to games on his daughter’s bday.
I seriously think this is his only real passion in life, which is just so sad. What a waste.
I feel so sorry for the Wales kids, their role models are all so freaking terrible, there is little hope for any of them. Let’s be real, Harry is a massive anomaly.
I feel like this is some sort of comedic clockwork at this point. He does “a day” or two of work and then goes to a Villa game. It’s ridiculous at this point. I think they’ve decided that William being an AV fan makes him seem relatable or something, like he’s just an ordinary bloke with his favorite team – but it just seems to me like he has to be forced to work if he wants to watch football. He didnt go to this many games when he was president of the FA!
speaking of, this isn’t the FA cup. It’s the UEFA Champions league, thats why PSG is up next.
He’s acting like someone who feels trapped in their marriage.
He truly is aging poorly and has grown unattractive. I say this knowing that commenting on one’s looks is uncool, but this is too obvious to ignore.
it’s a curse for some of us — when I became aware people were no longer surprised to hear my age, it was such a downer because until my late 40’s I always looked younger and then bam, one day a lifetime of sun loving, past smoking and life in general made me look 60 overnight.
It happens.
I know the feeling.
Exactly what leverage does anyone have over him anymore now that he has Duchy money? Do they threaten him with tabloid/bad rota coverage? After all he has deliberately put his brother and sister-in-law through encouraging the rota to abuse them to cover his own shortcomings, is he such a coward that he will actually drag his lazy ass out to work if the grey men threaten to expose him to rota crucifixion?
I was wondering that too. Is it just the threat of bad coverage? I think even he knows that it looks bad to go to games at times when he hasn’t done any work events. I think that’s happened a few times and it did look bad.
William probably has friends because of who is. He’s very dull and lacks charisma.
Sometimes I wonder how many of these people are “friends” with him because they either feel obligated to due to him being the heir.
It’s a sad existence for him. People only want to be friends with him because of his title, and Kate waited for the same.
Willie’s life seems all very transactional in what he does (PR for Earthshot; football game if you work)). He embodies inauthenticity. And Harry’s right. Willie’s trapped.
His reward for doing two days of photo ops.
Yup, that royal commentator was right. Willie should have been the assistant to the assistant football manager, and not the global statesman to which he aspires.
Just give up the duchy Willie and you can continue living your football dreams.
He usually wears a suit to a football match, so does his son, so why is he dressed like a normal football fan?

I am so incandescent (Will ‘ s signature look!) about our Labour Government
targeting the disabled that I emailed our Chancellor with the Republican Ditch the Duchies report and suggested they target KC and Will instead. I specifically cited value for money in regard to FK! Sorry but this is outrageous why is FK paid a fortune to attend a football match and it be considered work??
Good. Tide is turning if they’re not careful.
The return game from the quater finals is at Villa Park. How much do I hope that PSG wins easily in front of William, that would be really great. Also PSG is my second favourite team and they just took out my first favourite team, beating Aston Villa in front of William is the least they can do.
Me too.
I accept that Willi has a favourite club he supports, but as President of the FA he should attend a variety of games, including the lower leagues – not just his own chosen club. It is a very poor look.
His facial expressions do him no favours. He does not look like a future leader of the country.
He’s not president anymore. he stepped down last summer maybe. I think he has some other honorary title but he’s not president.
Like I said above, the irony is that he goes to more games now than he did as president. When he was president, he could have gone to one a week and called it work.
