Justin Theroux & Nicole Brydon Bloom’s wedding got the full Vogue treatment

Justin Theroux & Nicole Brydon Bloom got married over the weekend. I forgot to ask: do you think she’ll change her name? Nicole Brydon Bloom Theroux is a mouthful, and I suspect that she’ll probably keep her maiden name professionally. Anyway, as it turns out, Justin and Nicole gave their wedding exclusive to Vogue! The photos are lovely – I’m including Vogue’s IG in this post, and you can see Vogue’s full wedding editorial here. I genuinely love a good Vogue wedding article, mostly because you get a real sense of a couple from how they talk about their wedding priorities. It’s a big red flag if the groom is MIA in the Vogue piece, or if he’s like “my job was just showing up.” Justin isn’t like that – while Nicole was definitely front and center in this Vogue piece, Justin was part of the wedding planning, and he cared about a lot of it, including Nicole’s Victoria Beckham wedding gown. Some highlights from Vogue:

How Nicole & Justin met: Actors Nicole Brydon Bloom and Justin Theroux first met in 2022, when their mutual friend, actor Louisa Jacobson, introduced them at a private party at the Lower Manhattan bar The Nines. “After the party, a group of us went to grab a drink nearby,” Nicole remembers. “It was an abnormally cold night in New York City—about six degrees—and Justin very kindly offered me his gloves, which I gratefully accepted and promptly returned once we were back inside.” The next morning, Nicole got a surprise text from Justin that said: “This yours?” with a photo attached. “It was a picture of him holding my little criss-crossed diamond ring which I had worn, and sadly assumed I’d lost, the night before,” Nicole explains. “Turns out it had slipped off my cold finger into his large gloves when I returned them. Justin put his hands into the glove the next morning and the ring slid halfway onto his finger. He likes to joke that I proposed first, the very first night we met!”

Justin on meeting Nicole: “I for sure thought leaving the ring in my glove was a move,” Justin jokes. “Which now, knowing Nicole as well as I do, it certainly was not. She has left more jewelry, jackets, and bags in places than I can count. So, definitely not a move.” Justin also remembers being smitten with Nicole within the first 10 minutes of talking to her—before even asking her name. “I pointed her out across the room to my friend Rassi and when he saw her he did a double take, turned to me and literally said, ‘She is the one,’” Justin remembers. “I had no way of knowing how prescient his comment would turn out to be. I then begged him to go over to collect her name, which like an idiot I had not gotten.”

The proposal: A year and a half after they started dating, Justin proposed during a vacation on the coast of Italy. It was raining and cloudy when they arrived at Hotel Il Pellicano on the coast of Monte Argentario, and they were very jet-lagged. “We almost skipped dinner but decided to take advantage of our first evening on the coast together and ended up having a really poignant conversation over a candlelit dinner,” Nicole recalls. “While eating, a radiant, full blue moon came out and left us both in awe. Justin suggested bringing our drinks down to the water. He popped back to the room, under the guise of getting us some towels, but was really collecting the ring. We were looking out at the water and the moon when he proposed. He said some of the most beautiful things. It was wonderful—we were both crying.”

The wedding was held at Hotel Esencia in Xpu Há, Mexico. The wedding weekend began on Thursday night with a bonfire on the beach. For the first event of the weekend, Nicole chose a classic slip dress by Victoria Beckham in a custom shade of pink. “It felt so light and elegant on the beach,” she says. “My stylist Thomas Carter Phillips pulled a funky pair of silver Manolo Blahnik heels which were perfect for photos, but I ended up barefoot in the sand for most of the night—a running theme!” Indeed, Nicole notes that one of the most unique things about Hotel Esencia is that you can be barefoot everywhere and anywhere. “We wanted a destination that felt private, romantic, and very relaxed,” she says. “The best part? We had a full moon for the entire weekend. It rose directly behind us on the beach on Thursday and felt very full circle from the proposal to now.”

The actual ceremony: The ceremony took place at 5 p.m. on Saturday just off the beach. “We had initially wanted to get married down by the water, but when we woke up on Saturday morning, the wind was incredibly strong and sand was whipping around,” Nicole explains. “We pulled the ceremony back into a tucked away cove. The ocean was still visible but we were protected under a canopy of palm trees.” Justin’s thoughts: “All I’ll say is, it was wonderful,” Justin remembers. “Ceremonies with vows are about the words contained within them. And they are better left un-described here. That being said, the officiant said some wonderful things, and my wife was just… well, incredibly touching. I was very moved.”

Nicole’s Victoria Beckham gown: “On a weekend upstate with some friends, Victoria Beckham sweetly asked what I was planning to wear,” the bride remembers. “Justin has known David [Beckham] for many years, and we met Victoria last summer. In December, we had a couples weekend upstate with David, Victoria, and our close friends Zanna and Rassi—their twins were our flower girls!” It was there that Victoria drilled down on Nicole’s wedding dress options, wanting to know all the details—and then at one point she just offered to design it for Nicole. “I showed her a few of my options and she suddenly, and hilariously, started describing what she envisioned for my gown—something more ethereal, flowy, and light for the sand, with tulle and soft flowers—it sounded like a dream.” “We weren’t quite sure if she was serious or not,” Justin admits. “But she absolutely was. A few weeks later, Nicole was in London for fittings.”

What Justin wore: Justin always knew he would wear Ralph Lauren for his big day. “I wanted to wear exactly the look that Ralph wears,” the actor explains. “His signature cream jacket, single button, white shirt, black bow tie, and black tuxedo pants. It was impeccable, but also infuriating because he wears that look better than anyone else can, certainly better than I do. I was very close to stripping my hair to silver in an effort to look as foxy as him. But there can be only one Ralph.” For the other evening’s events, Justin wore a combination of Saint Laurent and Thom Browne suits. “Thom Browne is just incredible,” he says. “And they’re the only suits that I can rock with a combat boot. Yes, I am the person that wears suits and boots to the beach.”

This is very sweet? I think she was very excited and she really had a vision for a relaxed wedding, and Justin loved everything about that vision. You can see from the photos that a lot of his friends came down to Mexico too – Ben Stiller, Jimmy Kimmel, Paul Rudd. Well, it was the first (real) wedding for both Justin and Nicole. Hopefully it’s their last!

Their relationship to the Beckhams is really interesting.
Victoria’s dress for Nicole was beautiful, and it does exactly what she described in those pictures. The fact that she personally took an interest is really sweet.
And I can’t help but remember there was a bit of a kerfuffle with her DIL over a wedding dress back in the day–notice VB designed that dress and it was ready for fittings a a few weeks.

The dress is lovely and the bride looked beautiful! My only quibble is the pre-wedding photos don’t have Justin showing any affection towards his bride-to-be. I’ve seen photos like this before where the woman is draped over the man and the man is looking stoic and while they’re beautiful photos the posing feels chilly.

    • Alicky says:

I predicted Kevin Costner’s divorce when all his wedding photos showed him with his hands in his pockets.

  3. Alicky says:

I suppose the article didn’t actually come out and say it was the first marriage for both, lol. I wonder why the pretense on Aniston and Theroux’s part that they were legally married at all.

    • Persephone says:

No criticism Alicky, but why it even important for anyone to criticize that they were “pretending” at being married? If it made them happy and didn’t harm anyone else, why do the rest of us even care? And why keep pointing it out in article after article?

      • Alicky says:

It’s not important, just odd. And surely there’s no more appropriate place to mention it than on a gossip site?

    • SarahCS says:

I think we’re all supposed to just gloss over that and forget that they made a thing out of it at the time! They could have said nah it was never official at any point but chose to skirt around that.

  4. JEM says:

I read part of the Vogue piece but couldn’t with how absolutely annoying she sounds. Pretentious but trying to sound like she isn’t?

  5. Libra says:

Her parents are lovely and appear quite young. VB wedding dress design is fabulous. Will it be part of her collection I wonder.?

  6. JDLS says:

I don’t want to age shame anyone, and I wish them well, but she looks SHOCKINGLY young. I feel like she and Alba Baptista are in the same boat, just reallly young looking compared to their husbands 😬

  7. Chaine says:

I”m sorry but those look like bride and her dad getting ready to walk her down the aisle kinda?? Not just their obviously variant ages but the composition and the way he is holding himself? *sigh* does she have anything in common with his friends… Paul Rudd and Ben Stiller and his wife are also a different generation from her. It would be like hanging out with your parents’ buddies all the time.
