Tina Fey wins the weekend with ‘Date Night’ & SNL

'Date Night' premiere ,New York city

Tina Fey and Steve Carell did battle with the Clash of the Titans this weekend, and by most accounts, the little romantic-comedy that could came out ahead. As of this morning, Date Night appears to have made $27.1 million in its debut weekend haul, while Clash of the Titans made $26.9 million. But those numbers could change. Even if there’s a million dollar discrepancy here or there, I’m sure Tina will get a large chunk of the credit, just because she has the kind of fan base who will actually leave the house to go support one of her projects.

In other Tina news, she rocked on Saturday Night Live this weekend. There were lots of hilarious Justin Bieber jokes and even one great sketch with the two of them. Tina also returned to the Update desk to give a “feminist” commentary on Jesse James’ first-publicized mistress, Bombshell McGee. And of course, Tina did another great Sarah Palin spoof. It’s been a year and half since Fey did Palin, so there was a lot of material to jam into one sketch. They made it work though:

This one was actually one of my favorites of the night. Tina as one of Tiger Woods mistresses, doing golf commentary at the Masters:

Here’s the one Tina did with The Bieb… I give them both credit for being so game, and I absolutely love whenever Tina dances:

    Go Tina!
SNL was awesome – it hasn’t been that good in a long time. Such a huge difference between an actor/actress up there reading cue cards vs. someone who has great comedic timing – and talent!

Tina was so good on SNL!!! Most of the time the show is mediocre at best, but this one was really funny.
As much as I like her and Steve Carell, the trailers for the movie looked kind of bad, but then I’ve heard it was good. Who knows. Anyway, that’s great for her, I always enjoy seeing her have success because she has the talent to justify it.

SNL was hilarious, i couln’t stop laughing with the Brownie-Husband ad. I live in Spain, but there’s an american supermarket on my way home and I stopped to buy a drink. And there they were, Duncan-Hines brownies…serendipity

Tina Fey is an awesome role model, she is famous because she’s funny, smart and talented, not because she slept with a famous dude and got huge fake boobs. She can juggle it all!

And The Bieber. That little lesbian is adorable. He was flirting with Tina Fey and the other cast girls. He’s probably going to be an asshole when he grows up, but for now it’s cute.

I loved Justin practically groping Tina during the end credits. That little boy is quit the perv… I bet he’s hitting the mommies just as much as the groupies. He is living a 16 year old boy’s dream.

    She was GREAT on SNL!
I am sick of the Palin stuff, though. I’m not a big fan of Palin or anything, but I have heard that a lot of people hate her based on these skits and nothing more. They’re obviously dummies, but that really turned me off.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing Date Night.

Tina as a Tiger Mistress was my favorite skit. SO funny!

PS. They should call that blonde wig “The Britney.”

I went and saw Date Night over the weekend…was absolutely HILARIOUS!! So good, was laughing the whole time 🙂 I agree, the trailers did not look that great, but the movie turned out awesome.

Went to Date Night on Saturday night… really good funny movie. Saw a review saying it may not have worked with different leads (Greg Kinnear and SJP) and have to agree – those two would have had this DOA but in the hands of Fey and Carell – awesome!!

Fey of course rocked SNL! As a former head writer she probably had a bit of input and it showed. Pity she didn’t share the entire Weekend Update but her bit was great anyway.

In everything I’ve seen the Bieb on, he always flirts with the older ladies! He actually made Chelsea Handler a little uncomfortable when he was on Chelsea Lately…and if you’ve watched that show, you know it takes quite a bit to ruffle her feathers. My 10 year old sister looooves him & he is definitely growing on me, I like his sass 🙂

  10. Jeri says:

Yeah! Don’t usually but I taped SNL for her performance & it was worth it!

  11. corine says:

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, her! She was wonderful on SNL. She’s smart, funny and SO talented.

To me, she’s the perfect antidote to Hollywood’s dumb, bleached blondes (like Aniston, etc) who use their looks (instead of talent) to win movie roles and shallow fans.

That Sarah Palin skit was exceptional!!! 🙂

Gonna be the alternative voice; Tina Fey is overrated – how about developing more comedic characters and Sarah Palin is such an easy target its like slapping a baby – go after a tougher target. Also, don’t you have to have some minimal musical talent to appear on SNL or are their standards slipping like their ratings. Everyone knows the Bieb is yet another manufactured no-talent pop tart. For God’s sake he can’t even sing live and seldom does it. THe good news is he’s 16 so he only has about 2 yrs to milk this before the next pop tart comes along. BTW, the tweens that may have tuned in to watch the Bieb won’t probably tune in this week, so SNL’s foray into the tween market is ultimately futile.
