Sexyy Red is only 26 years old and it feels like she’s just “arrived” in the past year. Throughout 2023, she was releasing music and collabs and working with a lot of major people (Drake, Nicki Minaj, etc). She also got a name-check in Kendrick Lamar’s “Euphoria.” You get the idea – after years of grinding, she’s arrived in a big way and reached the mainstream. It feels like the more famous she gets, the more she… supports Donald Trump publicly?
Over the weekend, Sexyy Red performed at the 2024 Roots Picnic Festival in Philadelphia. Her stage featured an absolutely enormous red hat with the words “Make American Sexyy Again,” although you could only see the word “sexyy” from a certain angle, so it just looked like she was performing in front of a big MAGA hat. The reactions were mixed, until people started doing a deeper dive into Sexyy Red’s political statements in recent years. Last year, she said this sh-t in an interview:

I think this tweet’s assessment is probably correct – Sexyy Red is getting paid to say this sh-t. Maybe that’s true of Amber Rose as well, because she seems to be uncharacteristically MAGA and pro-Trump all of a sudden. Are Amber Rose and Sexyy Red this election’s Kanye West?

I think she’s just MAGA period. Last year she sat down for a podcast interview and said she loved trump because of those ‘Trump checks.” She was referring to the stimulus checks he held up because he wanted his signature on the checks. He’s good at marketing himself and she doesn’t care enough about herself, community or country to care.

I’m just old and grumpy – but I’m so tired of people yelling about how sexy they are. It’s been the same since the dawn of time – it’s always the boobs and the booty and the pouty lips. And now it’s not objectifying, it’s reclaiming the sexy and proclaiming the sexy and omg just shut up already. Grumble, grumble, rant, rant.
Usually the more the artist goes on about how sexy they are, or the fewer clothes they wear, the less talented they actually are (IMO, and tbh I never heard of Sexxy Red until I saw this article)
I’m all for feeling confident in yourself, but if they spent as much time working on their vocals, they might have better career longevity.

Sexyy Red said she’s in love with money on a radio interview, so I firmly believe he is paying her. Same for Amber Rose, but I liked Amber for a really long time. No more.
