We weren't holding our breath, but we were kind of hoping Nick and Jessica would get back together. Jessica wore her wedding ring around her neck for a while, and Nick told Rolling Stone that he still loved his wife of two years, but ultimately Jessica's immaturity and Nick's wild oats won out and now the two are officially divorced. The divorce was made final on June 30. No word yet as to the settlement amount. Jessica's dad tried to low-ball Nick into accepting a $1.5 million settlement, while Nick is said to have asked for a more realistic $8 million that he lowered to $5 million.
Nick is dating MTV VJ Vanessa Minnillo while Jessica may be with her co-star in the upcoming film "Employee of the Month," comedian Dane Cook. Cook was involved with someone else at the time of filming, but is now single and said to be getting cosy with Jessica.
This is sad news for Nick and Jessica fans, and should serve as a warning to all women who try to hold out before marriage and then get married young because they can't wait.

Nick Lachey hooked up with MTV VJ and former fling Vanessa Minnillo in Atlantic City after meeting up with her at a club on Sunday night. They left together and things must have heated up quickly for the pair, because they were then spotted in Mexico together according to PerezHilton:
Not only did they get freaky at the Borgota Hotel this weekend but they also just took a romantic getaway together to an exclusive resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
It is difficult to tell whether they were in Mexico first and planned to meet up at the club, or if they met in Atlantic City and promptly jetted off to the vacation spot. Either way, it looks like they're back together and that this means curtains for Nick's relationship with stylist Kim Kardashian.
Kardashian, who was linked to Nick after a romantic movie date on May 24th, has been seen out shopping and attending events with Paris Hilton. Her friendship with the flightly self-centered heiress couldn't have helped her relationship with Lachey, whose friends thought Kardshian's status as an outsider from the usual Hollywood circle was part of what made her attractive to Lachey. Kardashian's gorgeous looks couldn't have hurt, either.
This is also bad news for poor Jessica Simpson. She seems to have come to terms with the fact that it's over between her and Nick, because she may have approved of his relationship with Kardashian. Jessica reportedly sent her best friend and ex-assistant Cacee Cobb to check out Kardashian for her, and Cacee is said to have called Kim "nice." Nick and Jessica's divorce may be final on June 17th, and it looks like Nick is moving on with style.

Jessica Simpson has been seen out looking unhappy and disheveled, and people suggested that she's been seeing a therapist. Jessica has admitted to psychotherapy in the past, making it likely that she's getting professional help during a difficult divorce.
When she was photographed leaving a medical clinic on May 29th she may have been seeing a doctor, not a psychiatrist as was suggested. A source told Britain's OK magazine that Simpson underwent testing for a stomach ulcer. There is no word as to whether she suffered from an ulcer or was treated for it.
As Jessica and Nick get closer to reaching a settlement in their divorce Life and Style is reporting that Jessica has been calling Nick for long conversations late at night. She's been known to drink and dial, so this could be true:
The report claims that the pair are no longer fighting but spending late nights chatting on the phone and having tearful bedroom confessions about what went wrong.
L&S even consults Robert Butterworth a psychologist that tells the magazine that these types of last minute doubts are common. "People often file for divorce in a moment of anger then start remembering the good times as the reality of life without the other person sinks in, Butterworth tells the magazine.
The divorce could be final in just two weeks.
Nick and Jessica have gone back and forth trying to reach a divorce settlement, with Jessica most recently offering Nick an insulting $1.5 million, which he declined. He is entitled to half her earnings during their three year marriage, and she is said to have made $30 million last year.
If this report is true about Nick and Jessica talking frequently, Nick must realize that Jessica is letting her father Joe run the show as usual and is not responsible for trying to low-ball the divorce settlement.
Nick has moved on to a gorgeous new brunette, Kim Kardashian, while Jessica is single after being dumped by Maroon 5 frontman, Adam Levine. We think Nick feels for Jessica but that he's not going to get back together with her.
Here's Simpson at the CFDA fashion awards in NY last night. She seems happier, and it may be because she's hanging out with her hairdresser, Ken Paves, who is visible is in the background. She looks a lot like Eva Mendes with her hair up like that.
This is not news, but it does confirm that Kim Kardashian's eBay ID is *styleworld* (with asterisks around it) as we reported yesterday. She was seen out in the Christian Louboutin platform espadrilles, size 9, that she bought on eBay on April 24th for $445.00 plus $16.95 shipping.
Kim, 25, attended the "Entourage" LA premiere on 6/1 wearing the overpriced but discounted shoes. She was hanging out with Paris Hilton at the event. She is dating Nick Lachey and is the daughter of O.J. Simpson lawyer, Robert Kardashian.

While I think it's cool that she's selling stuff online and not buying retail, she doesn't use any design in her seller items and just posts them plain with all upper case descriptions. Update: Kim's father, O.J. Simpson lawyer Robert Kardashian, passed away on October 1, 2003. Given that her father died recently, it is understandable that Kim calls him her hero and says that she would like to meet God. Apologies for saying that "at least she appreciates where her lifestyle comes from." It must be terrible to lose a parent like that, and we would not have made that joke if we were aware of it.

Jessica Simpson has reportedly offered Nick Lachey a laughable $1.5 million to settle their divorce amicably. She is said to have made $30 million last year alone, and Nick is legally entitled to half of her earnings during their marriage of over three years. It sounds like Jessica's father is pressuring her to try to get Nick to settle cheaply:
We're told that Simpson's reps believe that Lachey will fold because he does not want to make it appear that he is after her money. They also know that Lachey is still in love with his estranged wife and believe he does not have the stomach to square off with her in court.
Indeed, sources have confirmed to TMZ that Joe Simpson, Jessica's dad, has called Nick, urging him to take the settlement so the two can "end as friends." And other friends and reps of Jessica have contacted Nick, trying to pressure him into a settlement.
Sources say Nick will not ask for spousal support, but that he's not stupid enough to settle for such a low amount. Two weeks ago he was said to be seeking a relatively low $8 million settlement in an effort to get his hands on some quick cash and avoid losing his property. The National Enquirer reported that Nick lowered his settlement request to $5 million hoping that would be a reasonable sum for Jessica.
It seems like Nick is being reasonable and Jessica is being pressured by her family as usual to low-ball the settlement. TMZ quotes Jessica:

Meanwhile Jessica may have lost her best friend, hairdresser Ken Paves, to her scheming sister. She lost her other best friend, her assistant Cacee Cobb, less than a month ago. She has been seen out shopping unkempt and alone, and bought up a bunch of "Team Jessica" shirts at an LA Boutique. She is also said to be seeing a therapist to help cope wtih the depression from her divorce and to come to terms with her identity.
Nick, however, has a hot new girlfriend and a successful new album.

You've probably already heard that Nick Lachey took Kimberly Kardashian, the daughter of OJ SImpson lawyer Robert Kardashian, 25, out to see the DaVinci Code on May 24th. It seemed to be a serious date, and Lachey is said to be enamored with Kardashian.
The source says that "Kim couldn't care less about the Hollywood scene," but here she is partying it up with Paris Hilton and her best buddy Caroline D'Amore at Matt Leinart's NFL Draft Party at Pure on May 2nd. Nick Lachey was there too, and that may have been where the two met.
Nick and Kimberly were said to be holding hands and getting cuddly on their date:
That's cute and maybe things will work out for Lachey. He doesn't like being single, and it doesn't seem like he will be for long.

Star Magazine speculates that Nick may want out of the marriage quickly so that he'll be free to date Jessica's ex-assistant Cacee Cobb.
There doesn't seem to be much truth in reports that Nick and Cacee are an item, though. They were seen talking for a 1/2 hour at a club, but they're old friends. People quotes a source that denies that they're an item, and we're inclined to agree.
Nick recently said the he can't imagine not getting married again, but that just seems to be the type of guy he is, and he probably doesn't have anyone in mind. He was said to have flirted with plenty of women at his CD release party.
It seems like Nick's push to divorce Jessica is all about money.

Cacee Cobb, Jessica Simpson's closest friend and personal assistant for over two years, has moved on to other things. She celebrated her last day on the job May 7th:

People are saying that Cacee has hooked up with Nick Lachey, since she spent nearly a half hour talking to him at a club last week. They know each other well, and it doesn't seem like it means much.

Nick Lachey's new album "What's Left of Me" is a clear and heartbreaking exploration of his very public breakup from fellow singer Jessica Simpson. Critics are saying the music is decent pop, if a bit melodramatic and depressing:
If so, then Nick Lachey's new solo album, "What's Left of Me," could prove cathartic; If not, it might leave you a bit depressed...
The disc - a somber, soulful, angsty collection of 12 ballads - is a slickly produced, raw-nerved confessional of his heartbreak and an open letter to Simpson.
In "Shades of Blue," one of the album's best tracks, Lachey pines for a lost love, foolishly awaiting her return. He asks, "Why did you have to leave? Why did you have to set me free? Why did you have to go?" But he takes an angrier tone in "I Do it For You," expressing his wish to see her "bleed and see how it feels..."
Realizing that he must move on ("I don't want to waste another day stuck in the shadow of my mistakes"), the title track has Lachey telling a potential lover to make him "whole once again."
His brooding songs, sung in a clear tenor, span different stages of grief, sometimes within the same track - there's resentment, regret and acceptance in "I Can't Hate You Anymore" - until he reaches his "Resolution," pledging his commitment to let go. Finally.
Set to a pop soundtrack, his pain becomes palpable, raw, universal. His pain becomes ours.

The NY Daily News is reporting that Nick decided not to respond to former miss Kentucky Lizzie Arnold, who he was supposedly dating in January. She was said to have sent him several voice and text messages in a vain attempt to get in touch with him before the Kentucky Derby. He was busy with Petra Nemcova the next day, so why would he bother with a past hookup?

Jessica Simpson showed up at the ALMA awards yesterday with an orange dress, orange skin, and a new orange hairstyle. If Ken Paves is responsible, she should break up with him next. She seems to be suffering from Jennifer Love Hewitt spring fever and we hope she'll go back to her trademark blonde hair soon. What color is her new hairdo anyway? Jessica is said to be pissed off at her less talented sister, Ashlee, for copying her look and getting a nose job that makes her more closely resemble Jessica. Maybe she's trying to go for a more unique appearance. No one would want to copy this hairstyle, that's for sure.
We were all excited about the "secret" dinner meeting and supposed hotel trysts between Jessica and her estranged husband, Nick Lachey. That may all be a rumor, just like most of the news we report. Jessica's representative denies that there was a secret dinner, but admits that the former newlyweds still talk on the phone.
Jessica is also said to have cut all ties with Lachey, calling him "toxic" after his tell-all interview in Rolling Stone. In Jessica's book, that probably means she's not going to call him for a couple of days.
Update: Jessica was wearing a wig that's part of her upcoming line of hairpieces. Now that's a good excuse:
"It's a wig!" she told Kevin on the red carpet. "I put eyeshadow on the blonde to hide it."

Blunt may be a sensitive singer, but he's a complete dumb ass and iit would be a disaster if these two got together. While Nick was able to balance out Jessica's ditziness with common sense and a grounded personality, Blunt has no such redeeming qualities.

Paris was just linked with USC quarterback Matt Leinart after it was announced yesterday that she broke up with Stavros Niarchos. She's not wasting any time because she showed up at a party at Pure nightclub at Ceasar's Palace last night to celebrate Leinart's draft into the NFL. She even sang at the event.

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey may be ready for a reconciliation. Mike Walker of the National Enquirer reports that they have been meeting up secretly at out-of-the-way hotels in the San Fernando Valley:
Gossip king Mike Walker... writes that the pair are meeting at discreet hotels in the Valley and.. that Jessica reportedly dished to a source:
"We still have our problems, but we're still very attached to each other." She continued, according to the source by adding "We still have the need for love and affection."
Walker bets that they'lll reconcile, and it looks that way to us, too! In his Rolling Stone interview, Lachey admitted that he's still very much in love with Simpson. Simpson has also been spotted wearing her wedding ring around her neck to remind her of happier times. Let's hope that Simpson has realized what she's been missing and that she'll grow up enough to weather the storms that come up in every long term relationship.
Meanwhile Lachey has blasted reports that Lindsay Lohan intends to get in his pants, saying he doesn't consider her worthy, and doesn't know anyone else who does, either!

Nick came off so thoughtful and was quite flattering to Jessica in his interview with Rolling Stone. The fact that he refused to dish any dirt on Jessica and her crazy family led Rolling Stone to double-cross Nick and sell the story without his permission to Us Weekly.

Jessica has been seen wearing her wedding ring around her neck to remind her of happier times, and Nick said in his Rolling Stone interview that he still loves his estranged wife. In a new interview in Rolling Stone Nick Lachey comes off as a real stand-up guy.
He says that he had trouble in his marriage with Jessica Simpson due to the way that they were typecast in their reality show "Newlyweds." Lachey suggests that their roles as the ditzy blonde and the good guy influenced the way they interacted off screen.
He also reveals that Jessica's decision to divorce was completely unexpeted and caught him off guard:
The two had just come from having dinner after the American Music Awards.
"The meal was really nice, actually," he says. "We had a good time."
After dinner, they stopped by a friend's house to pick up their dog, then headed for home. On the way, Simpson asked if Lachey was still coming back to Texas with her for the Thanksgiving holiday.
"We already had our plane tickets," he says. "So I didn't understand the question. I said, 'Of course.' And she said something about how we hadn't really been getting along and then said, 'I think I want a divorce.'
"That blindsided me," he confesses. "I basically said, 'Please, let's sleep on it.' But when we woke up the next day, Wednesday morning, she was still sure."
Nick cries when he talks about his marriage, saying he would have done anything to make it work:
He wipes his face, eyes to nose to chin.
"I'd marry her all over again," he says softly. "Because I still love her. It would be a lot easier to walk away if I didn't."
And then the tears start again.
He also says that he doesn't understand Joe Simpson, Jessica and Ashley's controlling father and manager, but does not blame him for his divorce, simply stating that Jessica "is a grown woman." He says that Joe never liked him and was "an influence" in his marriage, but that he did not cause their split.
Lachey refuses to address the rumors that Simpson cheated on him while they were married. He says that Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, whom Jessica dated up until a short while ago, approached him in a club to say that nothing happened between him and Jessica while they were married. Lachey says he believes him.
Despite reports to the contrary, he has refused to file for spousal support and says that he will not be suing Jessica for alimony!
And even more touching, he says he visited Jessica at her parents house and tried to win her back:
Lachey still has awkward conversations with Simpson on the phone every few days.
Lachey seems thoughful, gracious and introspective in the interview, refusing to blame Simpson for the divorce and never admitting her infidelity. Given his side of the story, it sounds to us like Simpson was too immature to deal with the normal problems in a long term relationship.
He is filming a new reality series for MTV that will focus on the making of his new album. After the responsible way he's dealing with his divorce in the press, his career is sure to benefit.

Jessica Simpson needs to work on getting her own identity. First she admits that she apes Angelina Jolie in everything she does - and poorly, we might add - and now she's copying her estranged husband, Nick Lachey, by chronicling her breakup pain in her new album:
"I think that with my music, you can't help but tell people a story about your life," Simpson said. "I believe that every artist, that's their artistry — it comes out of them naturally, through lyrics, through music, through instrumentation. So with this next record, you will see and hear a lot of things I've been going through. And if that can offer any inspiration to anybody else going through the same situations, so be it. That's why I'm here."
It makes sense that she would want to sing about her pain, but it's more likely that she heard what Nick's new album was all about and thought it sounded like a good idea.

People reports that Nick Lachey has gone out on a date with MTV VJ Vanessa Minnillo:
A source says Lachey, 32, and Minnillo, 25, were doing an R-rated bump-and-grind. “I saw tongues on skin,” says the source.
The next night, the pair dined with friends at Fiamma in SoHo then went on to hotel 60 Thompson.
The couple got close when Minnillo recently shot a part in Lachey's upcoming video.
That's good news for Lachey and we hope it turns into something serious. Star is reporting that Nick and Jessica got back together, but we doubt it. We think it's more like Jessica is bugging the shit out of Nick and he's taking it because he's a nice guy.
Well, Kristen Cavallari has burned up her 15 minutes. She can't even get into Mood, her favorite nightclub in LA, now that they're checking IDs after a recent bust. She probably wishes she had given Lachey more of a chance.

According to Life & Style Magazine, Simpson has been calling Lachey repeatedly to warn him that Kristin Cavalleri (who is now supposedly back with her ex) is using him:
But still sources say Nick has been taking Jessica's calls, but he's not really listening to her warnings, a pal tells the magazine. "Nick is sick of Jessica trying to call the shots in his love life," the source says. "He even told her that she can't have him back!"
This is not the first time we've heard that Jessica has called Nick after their split. In January she was said to be drunken dialing Nick and talking to him in a baby voice.
Jessica is presumed to be single after Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine dumped her by SMS three weeks ago.
She is currently in Albuquerque, NM filming "Employee of the Month." Here she is on March 26. Although Jessica has some friends with her including her best friend, CaCee Cobb, she may be lonely and wistful for what could have been.

Stacy Keibler of "Dancing with the Stars" says that she just "loves" Nick Lachey and wants to make sure the soon-to-be-divorced crooner is not lonely:
Extra TV reported on Thursday night that Nick (one of the most eligible bachelors in Hollywood) has picked up his own personal cupid: "Dancing with the Stars" stunner Stacy Keibler.
Keibler told designers Chip and Pepper that she's looking to make a love connection. "I'm trying to get Nick a good, quality girl," she said.
"I love him. I think he's a fantastic, great guy."
Lachey may have been hurt that Kristin Cavalleri was spotted making out with her ex this weekend while Lachey was away promoting his new single, as we reported yesterday. Lachey was said to have dated Cavalleri, although the Laguna Beach star denies it.
Lachey is also making headlines with the news that his new melancholy single was written on the very day that Jessica Simpson broke up with him:
It sounds like Lachey is a sensitive guy, and that he's getting his revenge by cashing in on his pain. Like most everyone, we're rooting for him and hope he gets the cash settlement he deserves in his divorce.

The article in Star speculates that Nick is not over Jessica and mentions that Nick's friends thought Cavallari was up to no good even before this incident. Still, we doubt that one failed rebound relationship will lead Nick and Jessica to reunite.

Nick Lachey was the host of Teen People's "20 Teens Who Will Change the World" event yesterday in New York. Teens honored included young "Lost" actor Malcolm David Kelly who is a youth mentor, Cody DeWitt, a 19 year-old filmmaker who documented his mother's battle with cancer, and Shannon Sullivan, a 14 year-old champion for Internet safety.
Lachey made a surprising move last month when he announced that he was concerned about teen safety online and was starting up a teens-only social networking community to compete with MySpace. Lachey may have just been lending his celebrity to help some of his childhood friends, who developed the site. It is called Yfly and is now online

Media Take Out claims to have the exclusive story that Nick Lachey fudged his separation date to get his hands on the additional million Jessica made in the interim:
But Nick may have fudged the truth. MediaTakeOut.com has learned that on November 23rd, Nick's publicist released an official statement announcing that the couple had separated. According to the November statement, exclusively obtained by MediaTakeOut.com, the couple announced that "after three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, [they] decided to part ways". The obvious inconsistency between this official statment and Nick's recent divorce response is troubling to those close to Jessica.
You have to give the guy credit for trying, though. It's not like he doesn't deserve the money for putting up with Jessica.
