I take back what I said about Nicole Richie gaining a little bit a weight. She may have put on a few essential pounds a couple of weeks ago, but she looks like death warmed over again in these latest shots on the beach.
Keira Knightley is also taking the anorexic look a little too far. While she claims she's doesn't have the disorder, there's no way she's eating well if her chest looks like this.
Britain's Daily Mail reports that Nicole broke into tears and wailed "I have a disease" when a photographer told her to gain some weight. I really doubt that happened, but she is thinner than she was just a few weeks ago. The British rag sounds the alarm about the two young paparrazi-targets' weight:
With her ribcage protruding through her skin, the socialite and TV star had to hold up her American size 0 bikini which bagged around her wisp thin frame as she sunbathed on a beach in Malibu.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that a photographer called out telling her to "gain some weight." The ultra-skinny star replied: "I have a disease" before bursting into floods of tears...
And it seems Nicole is not the only celebrity with a worryingly thin frame at the moment.
Pirates of the Carribean star Keira Knightley, was spotted in central London on Friday exposing an emaciated ribcage.

People should dress to fit their body type and not try to deny that they're super-thin or carrying a few extra pounds. We call it a muffin top when chubby chicks try to wear tight jeans and short tops, and we need a suitable nickname for thin women showing off their concave chests. I was going to write something about Keira's "dead woman's chest," but figured that would be too cliche. Something about pancakes would be suitable, but it's not about flat chests as much as sunken sternums.
knightley wore a gold Gucci dress with a non-existent neckline to the premiere of "Pirates of the Caribbean 2" in London that highlighted her skeletal frame. She was absolutely shocked that people think she might be anorexic and said that oh, anorexia runs in her family but of course she doesn't have that problem:
She said she was surprised by any suggestion that she had an eating disorder.
"(The press) said to me yesterday `How does it feel to be called anorexic?' and I had no idea that I was," Knightley said. "I'm not saying there aren't people in the film industry that suffer from it, because I am sure that there are. But I'm quite sure I don't have it."
She handled the question well by saying that she's glad she helped stir up interest in the issue and that it's good that people are talking about it.
She's obviously in denial that she's so thin, and shouldn't be showing off her tiny body. Kate Bosworth must realize how she looks because she wore a tight but flattering dress to the "Superman Returns" premiere and didn't look like the stick that she is.
Knightley has tried to play off her thinness by saying that she doesn't diet or exercise and that she admires curves on women. She said in an interview with Elle magazine that she eats "bowls" of pasta and drinks plenty of wine:
Knightley went on to admire the curves of other actresses like Scarlett Johansson whose body is about a million miles away from Knightley’s slender frame and who she was photographed with nude for the front cover of Vanity Fair.
She added: "That kind of decadent flesh is absolutely beautiful. How sexy is that on a woman?"
"We had such a laugh. Scarlett's a sweetheart. I'm not completely comfortable with my body but I just thought, 'Fuck it'."
It is was true that Knightley is eating "bowls" of pasta it would show on her frame. It's also very telling that she says she's not comfortable with herself, and calls Johansson's hot body "decadent flesh." Johansson is fit with curves and is not chubby at all. If Knightley thought Johansson looked good she would call her hot or curvy but instead she uses a description that is more suited to a side of beef. She obviously has problems with normal-looking women and isn't going to gain weight until she faces reality.

Def Jam president Jay-Z, 36, lost 15 pounds thanks to a diet his girlfriend Beyonce, 24, put him on. He is said to be feasting on high protein meals and lots of vegetables and to have given up candy. Jay-Z's weight loss has people speculating that the famous couple may be planning to get married:
Former Destiny's Child star Beyonce reportedly suggested her burly boyfriend shed a few pounds after pointing out he is 30 pounds heavier than when they started dating in 2003.
The 36-year-old has taken her comments to heart - he has already shed 15 pounds, according to insiders.
Beyonce has been focussing on her figure and probably encouraged Jay-Z to lose weight as a result. We don't think it means that they're preparing for marriage.
Beyonce is not one to give nutritional advice. She said that she lost over 20 pounds for her Dreamgirls role by fasting and drinking spicy water for over a week, and that she gained some of the weight back by eating a lot of fried food.
The two have hit a rought patch lately, with reports that they were fighting at a playoff game, and that Beyonce is jealous of Jigga's very friendly working relationship with sexy singer Rhianna.
Jay-Z and Beyonce are pairing up again in the studio. They are collaborating on Beyonce's new album, to be released on her 25th birthday, September 4th. The pair had a big hit with Beyonce's 2003's single "Crazy in Love."

In these new pictures of Nicole Richie on the beach in Malibu on Sunday she looks like she gained a little essential weight. She's still vastly too skinny, but you have to give the poor waif a little credit. She must have had a sandwich in the time between December and now, because there's a slight difference. It could be the fact that she's cleverly hiding her sternum beneath a scarf, but her stomach looks a little more filled out, and her legs are less skinny. It looks like a 5-7 pound weight gain. She isn't a normal weight by any measure though. Picking her apart probably won't help her face up to her problem, but we couldn't resisit.
According to one of Nicole's friends, her drastic weight loss was caused by an addiction to the over the counter weight loss drug hoodia.
She told Britain's More magazine that Nicole once told her: 'Hoodia makes you look hot in low-cut tops and backless dresses. It is good for me - the bushmen have sworn by it for hundreds of years and that's good enough for me.'
The troubled 24-year-old dropped from a US size 2 to a US size 0 in a matter of months following her brief split from Adam Goldstein last December and she recently confessed that she was too thin.
Nicole's friend sounds like she's covering up for her other addictions.

The NY Post is reporting that DJ AM and Nicole Richie broke up for the second time because Richie didn't gain weight and stop partying as AM requested:
This was said to be the reason they broke up the first time, so it's not surprising. Nicole Richie knew that she needed to gain some weight to save her relationship, and she still couldn't do it. That reveals how much of a problem she has. She needs to check herself into a clinic. If she gained 20 pounds she would look so much better, and she needs to do it for her health.
Sky News quotes Richie's dad as saying that she's planning a wedding that he will be more than happy to pay for. He must not have heard the breakup news:
He broke the good news to the Daily Mirror before he took to the stage at the Prince's Trust concert in London on the weekend.
Lionel, who's Nicole's adoptive father, said: "I told her: 'Honey, you do what you want and just send me the bill.
"I'm really happy that it's working out for her," said the 56-year-old former Commodores star.

Nicole Richie is an obvious perfectionist about her body. She starves herself thin, and has admitted wanting to change her nose:
This may be her way of letting the press know that she's about to undergo plastic surgery. Richie was photographed outside a plastic surgeon's office on May 9th.
She needs to see a therapist and work out her issues. From what I learned from the handful of college-level psychology courses I attended while nursing a hangover, Richie suffers from body dysmorphic disorder:

Sounds like a junior-high level assessment of friendship.
Nicole looks like she has gained a little bit of essential weight. In these pictures of her shilling for Sprint at the E3 convention on Wednesday she looks slightly more healthy. Maybe her confession to Vanity Fair about being too thin helped her to eat a little bit.
Everyone was speculating that Star Jones wasn't long for The View after straight-talking Rosie O'Donnell was handpicked by Barbara Walters to replace Meredith Vieira. It turns out that people were right, because Page Six is reporting that an insider has confirmed that Star will be exiting the show.
ABC will announce this week that the big-boned talking head is out at "The View," a source close to the inner workings of the late-morning gabfest tells Page Six. What network brass won't say is that she's being unceremoniously ousted at the direct behest of the show's grand dame Barbara Walters and the incoming Rosie O'Donnell.
"It was always Rosie's condition of joining the show, and Barbara agreed to those conditions from the outset," our source said. The network and Jones are now concocting a face-saving scenario in which Jones will be touted as moving on to pursue important new projects.
How Jones' star has fallen - just a few weeks ago, she had hoped to succeed Meredith Vieira as the moderator of the crew.
But Walters wasn't going to let that happen because "she hates her. Really can't stand her," a source told us last week. O'Donnell was recruited quickly after Vieira announced she was jumping to "Today."
Oprah's best friend, Gayle King, is said to be considered for Star's soon to be vacant post. We can't wait to see what crappy non-job Star gets next. She'll probably be out of work for a while until she breaks down and becomes the spokesperson for a diet or fitness-related product. She's already shilling payless shoes, and has no scruples about what she'll endorse to get free shit or cash.
Here she is with her husband at the The Playboy Club party on 5/5 hosted by the 2006 Playboy Playmate of The Year. At least she doesn't have to worry about him checking out the bunnies.
Liz Smith mentions in her column in the NY Post today that the photos that accompany Nicole Richie's interview in Vanity Fair were retouched to make her look healthy:
Nicole Richie became famous as soon as she started showing up for tons of events, and that just happened to coincide with her weight loss, probably because she had higher self esteem. While the ideal for slenderness in Hollywood is out of bounds and harmful to young women, I don't think that Richie's stardom can be attributed to her stick thin appearance. It is obviously unhealthy and not a good role model for anyone of course.
You can see the retouching in the photos below. In a picture of RIchie wearing underwear and kissing herself in the mirror, her butt looks a little too round to be real. Her face also looks less deathly.
The red string bracelet that Richie wears on her right wrist may not be a sign of anorexic pride that it can also stand for. (Some images are shown flipped, and the bracelet is really on her right hand.) It is from Kitson and is adorned with a gold hamsa, a protective jewish symbol. It's just, uh, a coincidence that anorexics also wear red string bracelets on their right wrists while Kabbalah followers wear them on their left wrists.
Richie admits in her Vanity Fair interview that she's too thin and that she's getting help from a doctor and a nutritionist.

Nicole Richie admits she's thin in an upcoming interview for Vanity Fair, and confesses that she has seen a doctor and a nutritionist about it:
About two weeks ago, Richie said she realized she was thin, but was nonchalant about it.
Richie wears a red string bracelet on her right hand, a symbol of anorexic pride. It seems like she's perfectly aware that she doesn't eat but is in denial about how severe it is and won't admit it outright to the press. At least she's trying to get help, but it's going to take a lot of hard work and therapy.
In related news, there is a picture of supposed coke residue after Nicole Richie left a bathroom stall, but the evidence is unconvincing and seems fabricated.
Here she is in La Quinta, CA at a Coachella Party. We realize that Taryn Manning is holding a little pipe in one of the pictures since everyone has pointed this out. They've also noticed that Nicole seems to have lost some her hair. Hair loss is a sign of anorexia.

Nicole Richie recently redesigned her engagement ring from AM from their first go-around, preserving the stone to use in a new setting. The couple is said to be making it official this July:
That sounds romantic, although we have to disagree that Nicole has put on weight. The couple broke up in December, 2005, and reconciled about two months ago.
Richie must be feeling particularly tender toward AM. He is recovering from "follow-up" work for his 2003 gastric bypass surgery, widely rumored to be plastic surgery to remove excess skin.

She is quoted in Britain's Star magazine as saying: "Am I thin? Yes, no doubt about it. I'll squeeze in a workout when I have time, but I don't do any cardio. I don't need to, I'm thin."

Kelly Osbourne attended the Denis Simachev fashion show in London yesterday. She hit a sour note with a chunky asymmetrical hairpiece and a fussy white cap sleeve blouse with a silly black neck tie.
Kelly has been lauded for her recent weight loss, which she says is getting her more attention from boys:
But she thinks her bad girl image is still part of the attraction: “They all just want to take me home to upset their mums because I have tattoos. They want to piss them off.”
She’s quite partial to bad boys herself though and has been linked to several rockstars and Sadie Frost’s ex, Jackson Scott: “I like bad boys. Mum goes mad.”
Osbourne was pictured with a "guest" at the fashion show, the man in a striped shirt shown below, but he may be just a guest at the show and not a guest of hers. They don't seem to be looking at each other and it's possible they were just sitting near each other.

Star Jones famously got a large portion of her sham wedding ceremony to Al Reynolds comped. Now she doesn't want to pay for stripping-focused exercise lessons, since she's not going to need them anyway:
Obviously Jones is up to her old tricks and thinks that her dim star power is enough to get her anything she wants. She should just be canned from The View already and become a spokesperson because she doesn't have many career options left.
By all accounts, Jones' return to the View after the health scare she suffered from breast lift surgery was unremarkable. Jones brought some falsies in for her co-hosts, saying she no longer needed them, and admitted that she did have a scare on the operating table. She continued to downplay the threat to her health though and insisted that she was "eating bacon and eggs" the next morning. Jones seemed to get along fine with Joy Behar after their snotty exchange on the phone over the air. The two must have been making a special effort.
Jones was honored by Dress for Success at the Marriot Marquis in NY last night. Dress for Success is a non-profit organization that provides secondhand business attire and interview tips to disadvantaged women. Jones must be considered a wonderful example for women afraid to ask for charity.

In the past few days we have heard that Kate Moss and Angelina Jolie are going to write autobiographies, and that Victoria Beckham and Nicole Richie are going to write style guides. As if we need another celebrity book, newly-slim Kelly Osbourne has vowed to pen her autobiography:
The 21-year-old, who has already been in rehab and had a string of failed romances with rock stars, told us: "I am definitely going to write an autobiography, so watch out for it".
Kelly also said she's not going to do a fitness video with her slimmed down brother, Jack, or get involved with Celebrity X Factor with her mom. At least books are easy to ignore.

Nicole Richie makes a feeble attempt to deflect well-deserved speculation about her weight by stating that she just loves fast food:
"I'm a big Taco Bell fan, a real fast-food eater. I don't have the highest standards when it comes to food.
"We eat dinner out every night because none of us cooks."
Richie is hounded by photographers everywhere she goes, and apart from this picture where she's uncomfortably eating a hotdog at a Knicks game, which she no doubt purged as soon as possible, there's little evidence that she enjoys fast food. Richie has been seen entering fast food establishments - and coming out with only beverages. She's undoubtedly fooling herself with these latest comments.
Here's Richie with some flattering hair extensions at the Prince show at Teddy's in Hollywood, CA yesterday. Paris also attended the show, but there's no word whether the two ex-friends met up. We would bet they were pointedly ignoring one another.
Richie's boyfriend, DJ AM, is in Miami for the popular Winter Music Conference, so not much can be inferred from the fact that he didn't go to the show with her.

Jennifer Garner is set to take it all off in a new erotic thriller. Her production company, Vandalia Films, is creating the picture, titled "Sabbatical," which will have a missing person plot with a twist:
In these pictures taken of Garner shopping in Santa Monica yesterday, she looks like she has slimmed down in preparation to go back to work. She has said that she is losing weight slowly instead of going on a radical diet in order to make sure that she and her nursing baby Violet, almost four months, are healthy.

"Lonesome Jim" featuring Liv Tyler, Casey Affleck, Mary Kay Place and Seymour Cassel permiered last night in NY. It is directed by Steve Buscemi. REM frontman Michael Stipe also made an appearance at the premiere.

Lonesome Jim is hailed as a solid and enjoyable indie film and has been called "a small gem."
Tyler was recently quoted slamming other actresses for acting like it's easy to shed the post-baby weight. Unfortunately, we have to agree with her. (The gym may have daycare, but that doesn't mean your kid will stay there the whole time without screaming for you.)
Despite what our friends at The Bastardly say, we think Tyler looks gorgeous.

Kelly Osbourne lost 35 pounds and she says it's due to cutting out "Jammie Dodgers," a type of jam-filled British cookie that's typically enjoyed with a cup of tea. We think it's more attributable to her new life in London living alone:
Rocker Ozzy's daughter was pictured in yesterday's Mirror after losing two and a half stone. The weight dropped off when singer Kelly, 21, ditched her biscuit habit and took up dancing. Her hair stylist Terry Longden said: "There was never just one packet in her dressing room - they left a case. Nobody was allowed to touch them. We knew better than to come between her and her Jammie Dodgers. I pinched one and she chased me down the tour bus."
Now she's living in London, away from the fattening delicacies offered by the family's chef in LA, her diet's healthier.
The girl probably can't cook a meal. Now that she has to fend for herself she probably isn't eating as much because it's too much work.
